Purpose should be obvious. Please don't suggest splashing black, because I've already seen those decks and that simply isn't my intended win condition here. Otherwise, comments and suggestions are welcome.
I'd consider putting in a Ichorwellspring + Throne of Geth package. Also, I find 3 Clasps is the best in a deck wanting to proliferate since you want to draw it every game, but you don't really want 2 since you rarely can activate 2.
Absolutely need Everflowing Chalice so that you can actually utilize cards like Keening Stone and Contagion Engine.
Finally, 16 lands is insanely low. 24 minimum. 22 if you're running 4 chalice, but even that is pushing it. You're going to get mana screwed all day the way you are currently setup. Since you're running Hedron Crab, if you've got fetchlands kicking around, I'd run 4 to 6 of them. 4 Tectonic Edge is nice too to buy you some time vs Control decks.
I have to agree with gamer here (by the way, nice foamy avatar XD). You need more lands, one less Clasp, and chalices. The Wellspring + Throne package does a decent job too, no lie.
I suggest you drop the Anatomists, Sages, and Silver Myr. Now, here's why:
Anatomists: This deck is a stall deck, but chances are you won't see too much opposition, and in your worst case scenario you'll beat them with Contagion Engine. Just let yourself take a few hits. Anatomist is slow and Contagion Clasp is far superior.
Sages: Voltaic Key accomplishes the same thing, but it's better. Just saying.
Silver Myr: The Grand Architects want blue creatures, plus if you throw in Everflowing Chalice you'll have far better ramp options than Silver Myr. Don't get me wrong, I have MAD love for the Myr guys, but this playset is just taking up space.
Consider Archive Trap as a sideboard option, as well as Traumatize. Both can be very powerful lead-ups to Grindclock. Also, yes, Coretapper is awesome. He's good. And do you see that lightning? DO YOU? Coretapper is the coolest foil I've ever seen
Prototype Portal - Because the only thing better than grind clock is of course an infinite number of grindclocks all grinding together to their own times!*note noticing that you're not actually running the grindclocks and I was misled by the name, substitute stone for clock and enjoy*
Painter's Servant - Well yes...because grinding everything at one time is beautiful Keening Stone - For when you've only got some of their deck in the grave yard, and you'd like to double it Voltaic Key - Because you should never grind/keen only once per copy
....why was it saying Grindstone? Fixed and put some edits in.
I'm still not sold on Ichor Wellspring + Throne of Geth because there isn't much else in the deck I can see myself sacing to the Throne. Unless I put in Core Prowlers, which I'm also considering.
Also, I still think I lack control, since I pretty much only have four counterspells. Maybe stuff like Boomerang. And I'm also worried about not drawing Grindclock. (Muddle the Mixture, perhaps?)
(Must we really drop Sages? I like the prospect of untapping Grindclock twice or thrice a turn...)
As has been said, Painter's ervant/Grindstone is one of the simplest and most efficient win combos in the game. There's whole decks built around just tutoring up those two cards for a--
Oh, wait, you're not running Grindstone? Good, because grindstone decks are unfun anyway.
That said, more than once I've seen people throw in a single copy of an "anti-mill" card just to cover their rears from decks like this one (The most popular is obviously Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or one of his two siblings, but Gaea's Blessing, etc also work). If you're not splashing black, unless there's a blue equivalent of Extirpate/Sadistic Sacrament that I'm not thinking of, you can mill until the cows come home but you won't mill those players to death.
I guess I could throw in Nihil Spellbomb or Relic of Progenitus against such cards, but it'd pretty much nullify Keening Stone. Thankfully, I can probably time the use of such effects correctly.
I'm thinking something as simple as Muddle the Mixture for fetching Grindclock, since it's pretty much Fabricate that still has use after the clock is out.
Any suggestions which cards are necessary before I put up a final decklist?
I assume the Chancellor is there for the free mill 7 at the start? I haven't played with the Chancellors yet, but I would personally run all four to max the chances of starting with one. I could see you hitting enough mana to actually play one, though. /shrug, my two cents.
