Blargh I can't get the deck's columns to stop left-justifying themselves.
The idea of this deck is to cast Korlash as soon as possible, grow him nice 'n big, throw key equipments on him (Voltron style), suppress opponents' development with board sweepers, and go to town. Commander damage goes a long way towards winning the game, and sometimes can lock in the game with bombs like huge Exsanguinates, Massacre Wurm, and Wound Reflection
Pathrazer of Ulamog - if the Annihilator doesn't cause some pain, the inability to be effectively chumped will
Bloodchief Ascension - activates quickly and becomes a monstrous force on the board for 1 mana, that still often manages to fly under the radar
Tainted Strike - makes Korlash a one-swing killer in many cases. or any other creature that's handy! however, it's the only infect-granting card in the deck, so I try to make it count
Vampiric Link - part of Korlash's epic voltron. gains wads of life from the commander, or possibly neutralizes my opponents' biggest guy
Smallpox - interestingly, is very effective against opposing voltron-style decks, and can tear up the board early if I start with enough Swamps
Armillary Sphere - digs for more Swamps. it's one of the only basic land card tutors available to me in mono-black
Trailblazer's Boots - in Commander, nonbasic landwalk tends to equal unblockable
Obsidian Battle-Axe - auto-equips to Korlash. just a beautiful piece of equipment
Journeyer's Kite - digs for Swamps with extra late-game mana, thinning a deck and ensuring I keep consistent land drops
Whispersilk Cloak - voltron piece, sometimes better than Lightning Greaves
Sadistic Sacrament - heck, I'm the guy who likes to kick games off with my Sharuum deck by Extracting a card from my most threatening opponent. the Sacrament is wonderful unkicked, but a milling monstrosity on turn ten. your best answers to my deck? gone, sucka.
Phyrexian Arena - the life loss is negligible, and extra card draw is the nuts
Infest - takes care of token hordes which are relatively common in my meta
Wound Reflection - an all-star card: it effects all opponents regardless of who deals the damage. this ends games, but can only safely be smacked down in the late-late game
Caged Sun - in EDH, you can never have enough mana. this artifact sees to it you will be well-supplied without also helping your opponents, and even gives all your creatures a decent buff
Life's Finale - more in the same vein as Sadistic Sacrament. wipes the battlefield, then violates an opponent by permanently removing three of his best threats
Repay in Kind - I've never profitably cast this clunky expensive card, but I keep it in because it seems like it could be very situationally good
Phthisis - it doesn't always destroy a creature (DSC), but hardcast, without anyone suspecting it, it's a pro. it also functions as a powerful deterrent if suspended
Plague Wind - kills their guys but not mine. straightforward mass removal.
Suffer the Past - hoses common graveyard strategies and/or simply punishes players late in the game
Consume Spirit - a last-ditch mana funnel to kill an opponent
Exsanguinate - perhaps the second-most important kill card in this deck's arsenal; everybody hates you after this, but with the life buffer you gain and the life everyone else loses--usually killing someone anyway--you can often go on to win with Korlash

Cabal Coffers would like to have a word with you. I understand it takes from your avalible power to Korlash but its not a big deal it is worth the mana production.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
With that in place, you can actually run non-basics. Petrified Field will return blowed-up Coffers back to your hand. Shizo, Death's Storehouse will make Korlash unblockable lots of times. There's so many more options you have if you play Urbrog.
EDIT: Wayfarer's Bauble could be added. It ramps you forward a swamp and has the potential to turn a turn 4 Korlash into a turn 3.
EDIT: Armillary Sphere could probably also be considered. It gives you 2 more lands to drop.
EDIT: Kagemaro, First to Suffer is an amazing creature for this type of deck. He can usually sacrifice to kill the small utility guys and token armies but he leaves your commander alone. It gives you the option of having a beater and a creature for rez tactics as well while still serving some of the small -/- abilities.
Also, for Pathfinder's ramp suggestions, the guys you should cut are your dinky one and two drops. Let's not kid ourselves- You are supposed to be winning with Korlash or with a big-azz Exsanguinate. Those guys will do nothing for you to that end and you are going to HATE to be topdecking them when your opponents are playing with Dragons and Titans.
Wow, thanks guys!
I used to run Urborg and some nonbasics but other players benefited from it too much. I guess there wouldn't be much harm in running a few nonbasics without the Tomb though. I've been looking to trade for a Coffers for a while, probably just need to bite the bullet and buy one.
so the immediate changes I'm making are:
-Marsh Casualties, +Obsidian Battle-Axe (totally forgot Korlash is a warrior too, herp derp)
-Virulent Swipe, +Tainted Strike
-Deathgreeter, +Armillary Sphere
with some new equipment, including Fireshrieker, O-Naginata, Sword of Vengeance, and Loxy Warhammer hopefully in the near future.

Cut Contagion Engine as well. It is just wayyy tooo slow.
Toss in a Obsidian Battle-Axe, it auto equips to Korlash and gives him haste. It is very very good.
cut Infest
