This deck is designed around killing your opponents with your General. As Soramaro power/toughness is equal to the number of cards in your hand, the deck is centered on drawing cards.
Since I wanted to keep the deck friendly, there is only one counter spell,Overwhelming Intellect since it allows card draw.
To protect the General, I have a suite of bounce spells and another suite of shroud spells and artifacts to go along with the Lightning Greaves.
I have only tried this out once at my LGS, but it was startlingly effective. I plan on trying it out more to make sure it is consistent, but with all of the card draw, there are many chances to get the spells you need.
In fact, I pulled out Kira, Great Glass-Spinner because it seemed to powerful an effect when you can one hit kill, giving your group only three rounds to get rid of Soramaro.
Would suggest a Silent Arbiter + Maze of Ith combo to help defend yourself against creatures. Also given the amount of card drawing in your deck + the amount of wanton destruction in EDH, maybe some graveyard-back-into-library recursion might be in order. Mnemonic Nexus?
EDIT: While Meishin, the Mind Cage might seem like an obvious include, I would advise against it. People won't be able to accomplish a lot with it on the table and killing you is an easy solution.
I would suggest Aeon Chronicler, seeing as it's another mini-Soramaro with built in card draw capability. Another beater for when your hand is GIGANTIC.
If you want to make the deck super friendly, try out Howling Mine and Font of Mythos. You'll be helping everybody, but yourself most of all.
Thank you all for the great ideas! I have an Aeon Chronicler on order from SCG and I will be digging through my cards to pull all of these cards you guys recommended. I have since played against others a few times and have noticed that the low cost bounce spells aren't pulling their weight as much as the multi-bounce spells.
Since I always have enough land, I am also going to run with one less and see how it goes.
