The Card Creation League is a monthly contest in which players compete over seven rounds. Each month has an overall theme and/or story, determined by that month's host.
Each round, the host will assign a card creation task to the players. This task may vary between teams or players.
The first three rounds are open to everyone who joined in the sign-up thread, which will be posted near the end of the previous month. After these rounds, the Top 8 players will move on to three single elimination rounds to determine a winner.
Rounds usually last three to four days for submissions and about two days for critiques, but the host has final say in making the schedule.
For the first three rounds, players are divided into teams. Four teams is standard, but there may be more or less depending on the number of players. Each team will review another team's cards during the critique period of that round.
Each player must submit a Top 3 ranking for the team he or she critiques at the end of each round. Each First Place is worth 3 points; Second Place is 2 points; and Third Place is 1 point.
Additionally, each player can receive up to 2 additional points per round. One point is given for posting a Top 3, and one point for providing critiques for that team's cards.
Suggested areas to critique include creativity, balance, printability, and relation to the overall theme or that player's previous cards.
Players who do not post a card or a Top 3 will be put on "probation." Top 3 violations for a round can be removed by posting or PMing the host with your Top 3 before the end of the next round. Any player that would receive a second violation is disqualified from further competition that month.
At the end of the first three rounds, the Top 8 players will be selected by points (usually the top 2 from each team). In the case of ties, there may be more than 8 players advancing. The host will determine matchups for single elimination. At the end of each elimination round, remaining players not in that matchup will choose a winner to advance. The host will break any ties.
The final round is determined by public poll.
Prior to Top 8, players have a chance of getting a total of 100 points toward their score each Scoring Round. Scores for each Round are determined by the following equation:
Total points of Player A in round N = 100 * X/Y, where:
X = Total number of Scoring Points (Judge Points + Additional Points from Top 3 & Critiques)
Y = Total number of Possible Points (3 * Number of Judges + Additional Points)
3 points are given for a First Place Top 3 finish, 2 points for a Second Place, and 1 point for a Third Place. 1 additional point is awarded if a Top 3 is submitted. 1 additional point is awarded if Critiques are given for all entries to be judged.
This way the grading is more streamlined in the fact that all rounds prior to Top 8 are graded equally, and there is no handicap for any team that has fewer judges.
Each player accumulates points from each Scoring Round until the end of Round 3.
The Narrative
Having managed to pull together a mostly corporeal form in this electronic wasteland, you come to a nagging realization. This is a CCL. There's only one winner each month. Okay, there was that one tie, but, still... you need to be prepared to take out the competition. Winning may be the only way to get back to your keyboard and real life.
Making sure you have a way to deal with the competition is your next priority. It's hard to say who you will face, but part of you is glad that you don't really know any of these people. You start to focus the energies that make up your body, and prepare to unleash a force that will blow away some of the potential competition.
The Challenge
Design an Uncommon Sorcery, within your chosen colors, that is capable of disabling, destroying, or removing from the battlefield one or more creatures. The card design should reflect your personality and/or play style, and must be comprised of at least one of your chosen colors.
Critiques
During this Round, critique the Round 0 submissions of the other people on your Team. Critiques/Top 3 should be listed below your entry for this Round.

With an explanation thing!
Apart from only being involved in multiplayer games, I have a very strong Johnny personality. However, even ridiculous combo decks need some form of protection, which is where sometimes a bit of a griefer side comes through in me. Enter the edict that forces you to lose your biggest threat!
Super-Ego Round 0 Critiques/TOP 3:
destinytrigger - Interesting avatar, but incredibly scary - my main problem here is that instant heavy decks can simply not do anything on their turn and gain a huge card advantage over time. Works well with your description though.
brasil_dude101 - Fun, although something about your avatar makes me feel it should have counted artifacts instead of lands. Good link to the description though.
CodGod - I like this ability, but two issues come up - firstly, it could be that the token isn't targetable; secondly, a 0/2 for three colors that has a mild version of shroud doesn't feel very mythic though. Works nicely with your description, and the colors are right, just needed a bit more oomph.
ParaSiempre - yipes, there's a crazy two-drop; Archon of Justice was nine mana and Magus of the Moat only a half-lock for a reason, you know. That aside, if it was at a higher cost, it would have made a great card. Flavor and name say it all, really.
Marr965 - Reach feels a bit out of place here, but the False Demise ability is really cool.
Maokun - Fun, although I'd say it was mono-blue. What's your justification for vigilance and your three colors?
schtingah - Hmm, a 1/1 with no abilities is a bit hard to force through, so I'm not sure it packs enough power to be mythic. Ability is still cool though. But that's just design - flavorwise, a great fit.
Pocketwatch - Dangerous, but fun ability. I'd be pretty impressed if you can take down a Battlegrowthed Grizzly Bear, but I guess it's making a point. Feels mythic, hits the flavor. Good job.

I tend to leave things for later. Whether that's because I feel that I'm not yet prepared for the task due to a lack of necessary skills or information, or because I'm simply being lazy and procrastinating, it's not odd to find me doing something due the next day when I've had a while to do it. I feel the above card represents this tendency and/or me well, since it basically either draws things out (procrastinates), or, if you are willing to wait, solves your problem.

Because someone asked. Within the context of Magic:
I feel red- and blue-flavored because I'm drawn to and entertained by the unnecessarily complicated, especially when a game devolves into the kind of crazy fun that stories are made of - there are a bajillion tokens on the board? Everytime I play a creature, a dozen different triggers go off? Someone just lost to a deck centered around One With Nothing? Sign me up! I care much less about winning often than I do about winning (or losing!) in interesting and different ways. I like to try new, less straightforward strategies rather than sticking to the same surefire ones all the time.
These two colors are tempered by white - I prefer multiplayer to duels, and more so than my other motivations, I care less about winning than I do about everyone having fun. I will help other players even when there's nothing in it for me if they're stuck in an annoying situation, and (red bleeding in a bit here) I'll take risky moves to break a stale game state even if it means leaving myself vulnerable. If one of my weird decks seems unfun for others to play against, I won't use it very often. I am definitely not a poor loser or winner (and I try not to give my opponents the opportunity to do either if they seem inclined to). Blue bleeds into the white part of me here - after a game I will try to offer what constructive advice or comments I can, and will eagerly take any another player has to give me. I have a vested interest in helping my opponents improve and improving myself, because when everyone is a better player, games become more challenging, interesting, and fun.
Okay, so I'm inside the CCL somehow. This isn't so bad, actually! I wonder what all these shiny bits do. Maybe I should poke around, see if anyone on the outside notices me... or if this has happened to anyone else. Though come to think of it... if I'm not alone in here, and this is the CCL, won't most others be looking for a fight..? I should have something prepared to dissuade any violence, just in case...

- Lioka, Grand Ambassadrix
Art: A council room filled with bureaucrats who, by their attire, are obviously from different nations; one of their number seems to be arguing heatedly about something and pointing an accusing finger at another. An impassive-looking council member stands between them.
NotoriousLynx: Battlemind's my favorite Psionic class, too (though Swordmage is my favorite Defender). -2/-0 would feel much more natural on a WU card, though it does feel very white in that it only punishes creatures if they attack.
Koopa: Ah, an avatar after my own heart. Love the flavor text, too. The way it can potentially backfire feels very UR.
Twilight Kiwi: Wow, pure genius! The most amazingly perfect card ever created in the CCL. Nay, in all the history of MTGS! Obviously whoever made this masterpiece is truly a paragon of card design, and all other competitors should just give up now and save themselves the trauma of having to compete against such creative clout. Name seems a bit familiar, though...
Prospero314: Lexiconnoisseur. I'm totally stealing that word. Clever that you translated a love of words into manipulating keywords. GWU is my favorite color combo to play, and I've made cards similar to this before, but the second ability is a great GWU effect that I haven't seen yet.
Dofustal: Very creative, a non-shapeshifting shapeshifter! I love this card, but it doesn't feel black to me at all. Should be WU or UG (or even GWU maybe).
Monkey Playing MTG: This is a sweet idea, but it needs to be toned down a bit. An Elf or the like on turn one, you on turn two, and turn three I can draw six cards (or four if I want to be able to cast some of the non-instants), or give my guys a bigger Overrun and swing for 10, with no further mana investment? And I can keep doing this every turn? Ouch.
Achren: So many cool cards in our group in my favorite color combos! Makes me wish I'd gone with GWU too. Lets you use your cards like Legos to build awesome permanents!
Phyrexian Editor: I once called myself of a linguivore, but see Prospero's comments above. This feels like it wants to cost at least 1 more, but it's a cool ability. I get the flavor, but I'm slightly disappointed the name ends up referring to being well-spoken rather than basing the mechanics on actual words like Prospero did.
The_Reign:Vindicate on a legendary stick. Nice, but kind of boring. With such a simple effect, there was plenty of room to build great flavor, and I wish you'd capitalized on that.
Benjammn: I like this card a lot, and it runs along the same lines as my own. I love how much more interactive it is than Rings of Brighthearth.

Crits:
As we've come to expect from GM (why oh why am I up against you?? :D), a very well designed card. The hybrid cost fits both the card and your description of yourself, and the ability works well, is templated well, and is definitely playable. This is a card I would see WotC printing, which is the highest praise I think I could give a card. Excellent job.
I like the idea of this card, and how it ties into you, but as you've written it, this card would never see print, ever. It's literally impossible to prove you aren't cheating when your reveal your type of card. Would be MUCH better with something like ".... upkeep, exile a card from your hand..." and use that to determine the card type. The list of abilities that happen if you guess correctly is somewhat haphazard.
A classic blue-white card, in that it encourages you to do nothing, and force others to do nothing as well. I hate it However, it's a pretty well designed thing, and I can see the tournament players in my area trying to fit this into their decks, since you'll be drawing an extra card on your turn, most of the time. I could see this getting printed, and it ties in with your description of yourself very well.
Another U/W mage, hooray! Splice huh? Good effort at making trying to make it work, and your templating is spot on, but I get the impression this guy is busted to hell and back. I think I'll pay U every time I cast an instant or sorcery to Unsummon, that'd be grand. Ewww. I think this would be hit with the nerfhammer pretty hard before it got printed. Ties into your personality OK I guess. A solid effort but not a star.
Discussions of the color pie aside, I'm a little confused about where this card would fit into a format. I don't think anyone would attack into it (in which case I guess it's doing it's job), or if they do it's because they have a trick of some kind. I'm also not sure why the card is white - again NOT talking about the philosophy but merely the bits printed on the card; there's nothing there that couldn't be represented by a U/G card. Not a huge fan of this one.
BRR don't have many 1/2's; they're far more likely to have 2/1's. Also, you're a Demon? Also also, you like to share your pain, but the cards ability transfers it to other creatures only, which isn't sharing so much as giving. This card is busted as hell and (somewhat obviously) is way too hard to kill in combat. You'd have to Go For the Throat or Path to Exile this guy, or ping him twice. Not a good card.
A very quirky card, which works for me on a lot of levels, and doesn't on others. What really strikes a chord with me is the hexproof while 3 cards in hand ability - to me it feels like the more knowledge I have (cards in hand) the better I am, which is a very blue concept and very well done. For some reason the tribal theme doesn't sit so well with me but I can't figure out why - after all blue and red both have extremely successful tribal decks (Merfolk and Goblins, obv). I do like this card though.
You apparently don't have a job Pretty much all humanoid creatures now have a Race/Class description, it's very odd to see a Human with no class attached to it. Also, I kind of see what you're doing with your mana cost (2 of each of three different colours), but that's WAY too complicated and WotC wouldn't every print different hybrid mana on the same card (I think). Your card is very much "build around me" but I fear that because of your mana cost it's a bit meh - I'd put it in GW, GB, and BGW decks that make tokens, but I'm still not sure about it. Deathtouch and Lifelink are plenty, you don't really need to add Trample as well, IMO

Planar Journey 1W
Sorcery (Uncommon)
Exile all creatures target player controls. At the beginning of the next end step, return those cards to the battlefield under their owners' control.
This combines a couple of things I really like; flicker effects, and taking back stuff that was stolen from you. It also breaks stalls; remove all your opponent's creatures and swing through for the win It also kills tokens, although that's more a side effect (that I intend to keep) than the main point of the spell. I could say "all non-token creatures" but that would make it pretty meh, IMO

TwilightSpark - I like this. Helps with counters and burn for sure. It dies to a sneeze though, and for 4 mana it's quite an investment. 3/5
Timothy, Mimeslayer - Honestly a bit too weak for legendary + mythic. No protection and the abilities are lackluster. Wording is a bit off. 2/5
Erimety - Decent, but certainly not deserving of mythic rarity. P/t doesn't make sense, since it's black and green. Better with sacrifice combos. 3/5
DeusofCalamity - It's kind of broken. 3 free draws (which you can do on your opponent's turn too, by the way, so 6 per turn cycle) is way too many, especially in older formats. Seems monoblue more than anything. Should be mythic for sure. 2/5
Krey - This could be a fun card, but ... all he can do is survive. A nigh-invulnerable 1/2, that's otherwise vanilla, is incredibly underwhelming for cmc 3. Definitely not a mythic. Wording is off on indestructible. 2/5
Jimmy Groove - Whew. I like it, but it seems overpowered. First strike does not belong on this card. Very high utility for its cost; basically a Time Stop on a stick. Not sure if wording is correct; "exile player" doesn't seem right, but neither does "remove from game." 3/5
Summon_Legend - Cool. Colors are appropriate for its ability. Somewhat hot-glue-gun feel to it. P/t is fine, but no rarity. 3/5
xX-TacOcat-Xx - Creatures can't attach to other things. Barring this, the "gets equip x" and "attach it to ~" abilities to not work well together. 1/5 for the rules error.

Creativity: Looter and pump in one. I like it.
Balance: Really good. Balanced for a legendary creature. Good job.
Printability: Two abilities that in no way complement each other.

Balance: Seems a bit overpowered, but within a decent range.
Printability: Well, germination was printed. I would say this would too.

Creativity: This is in no way a white or red card. The card in no way justifies it being those colors. Blue is fine and the card is cool.
Balance: Can be powerful, but has to be built around a little bit. Great job.
Printability: Not a white/red card. If that part was replaced by a blue symbol, then I can see it being printed.
Theme: Works, but you did not justify the colors through the card.

1/2
Creativity: Using blink as a regenerate effect is creative.
Balance: For the cost I can see it. Nice.
Printability: I would hate and love to see this printed. Hate because it is annoying. Love because it is cubeable.
Theme: Honestly, the only thing that I got from your description was "annoying". This certainly fits that well.
Krey Jammer, Faithful Soul :symwu::symwu::symwu:
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric (MR)
Hexproof (This creature can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.) 1W: Jammer, Faithful Soul has indestructible until end of turn.
1/2 The dark cannot destroy those whose faith shines bright enough.
Creativity: Combining two abilities that make a nigh un-killable creature. The fact that it is a cleric is great and the flavor text adds a lot.
Balance: The ultimate one man defense...at a cost. Very well done.
Printability: I would not be surprised to see a card very similar to this in innistrad. Wizards will want to explore hexproof some I am sure.
Theme: No description. Are you immortal or something? Anyways, this is basically a not important category till next round anyways. Then descriptions really aren't needed.
Jimmy Groove Groove DefiantUURR
Legendary Creature - Human Rogue Wizard (MR)
Flash, first strike
When Groove Defiant enters the battlefield, remove target player from the game until end of turn.(While a player isn't in the game, that player's permanents and spells are not controlled by anyone, and that player cannot spend mana, draw cards, play cards or abilities, or attack or be attacked. If a choice must be made by an absent player, it is made at random.)
3/3
Creativity: This is certianly "Un-" creative. I am unsure as to how to judge this. This certainly is not a regular card.
Balance: Horribly one sided. Not good. Kind of the definition of not fun.
Printability: Only in an Un- set. So it wouldn't.
Theme: Sure, why not. You are breaking the rules anyways.
Summon_Legend Thayer, Sovereign SummonerGUB Legendary Creature - Human Shaman

I say it is in the depths that some of the most fearsome beasts lurk."
2/1
Creativity: I love this cards ability. Combines some of the best aspects of G, U, and B.
Balance: Not really. Somewhat because it is three colored, but that ability is insane. At worst this is a Phyrexian arena that plays most what you draw at no cost.
Printability: Even if we get a wedge shard block this will not see print. Not at the cost...not with that ability.
Theme: I laughed so hard when I read your description. I'll give this one to you, the card matches.
xX-TacOcat-Xx Phares Zoran, Attainer3GW

2/2
Creativity: This design space has not been explored very much. This is a cool take on the equipment creature. Reminds me of licids.
Balance: Hard to say, but probably a touch underpowered. Maybe could reduce the cost by 1.
Printability: I could see wizards printing this. Not sure G was a good choice here though. Maybe U instead.
Theme: No actual description. Oh well, it won't matter in following rounds anyways. I would guess you like weapons.
@Doom Lich: Sorry. I'm trying a new judging format, so you needed to sign up during Round 0.

Cool pumper, but the ability cost is 1 too much for a mythic. Giant Growth factory would be cool. Maybe that's why you chose 2.

Whoa, now that's a djinn. I'm pretty sure it this was actually printed it would be quickly broken. I know I wouldn't want to be playing any creature strategy against it. It definitely passes the "sexy mythic" test.
The end of turn clause is unnecessary (creatures stop being attacking creatures when the attack step is over) and I don't see why blue white is giving things -2/-2. That's black's job.
Interesting. Your templating is a off (see Spellskite) and the card is cluttered for me. Why not: "Whenever a permanent or player becomes the target of a spell, you may pay 2. If you do, choose one - Change a target of that spell to you or Twilight Kiwi; or copy that spell and choose you or Twilight Kiwi as one of its targets." You lose a little functionality, but it makes the card a lot cleaner.
You've taken a design that we've all thought of at one time or another and put a cool spin on it. I'm not sure about the flavor connection, but I like the mechanics of the card quite a bit. And kudos for not falling into the trap of putting shroud on the list.
I get your given reason for the "other than" clause but I think it makes the card clunky. Why shouldn't our mask merchant be able to dress himself up? I love the concept, though, of a creature seeing a new guy come down and saying to someone else, "Don't you want to be like that guy? Here, I just happen to have a mask for sale..." I would definitely give the ability a mana activation cost, though.
Your card tells a great story. Unfortunately I think it's probably way too powerful. I can draw two each turn for next to no drawback, four if I'm not beating down, six if I don't have creatures or sorceries to play. I'm probably playing him turn three, and if they don't have removal drawing six cards turn four. It's a good idea, but it needs dialing back.
Why wouldn't I just play the card I've now exiled and can't play? I don't get why this card is good.
Nice pop culture reference. Your card is way overpowered, as I'm sure you know.
Well, I like the name. So you're wearing some slightly different Rings of Brighthearth. This could be killer in EDH, but I'm not sure I would want it in a duel. It definitely feels like a solid rare role-player rather than a kickass mythic.

Spellbind1UU
Instant {U}
Tap target creature. As long as Spellbind is in your graveyard, that creature doesn't untap during its controller's untap step. Since the moment the chilling tale had left Ben's lips, the guard couldn't keep it out of his head. Soon it was all he could think about.
When you say the sorcery must be in our colors, do you mean in *all* the colors we picked, or does it just have to not be any colors we didn't pick?
I would like to know this as well. Mainly so I don't disqualify myself from misinterpreting the colour requirements like I did last month.

Sorcery (U)
Exile target nonland permanent. Its controller gains life equal to its converted mana cost. “Lay down your weapons. Dispel your magic. Swear a vow of nonviolence and make amends for your wrongdoing.”
—Jacky, Antagonist of War
Gerrard's Mom: Mother of Gerrard wouldn't look out of place in an Un-set. I particularly like the flavor text and its subtle reference to the activated ability's restriction. Feels balanced.
Viperion: You're an interesting card. It doesn't have the Mythic Rare feel as required, but giving all creatures you control hexproof, as opposed to all other creatures (as is usually the case) makes it deceptively good. I would have liked more synergy between the two abilities, but the mechanics make sense when you explain your personality/playing style.
void_nothing: And I thought Goblin Game was a ruling/practical nightmare. Assuming you're keeping track by pen and paper, you would be scribbling non-stop when you have this card out. Now imagine multiple opponents in a multiplayer game. I understand the secretive nature of your card, but I think it would cause less headaches if you chose a card type at the beginning and then stuck with it, instead of continuously changing types whenever an opponent plays a spell. 3 damage seems overly strong for an ability that would trigger multiple times while this card's out. Maybe deal 1 damage and gain some life too? All in all, I applaud the uniqueness of your card.
Ikeda: I misread your card when I first read it, so I was like 'Woah, you can add the effects of any instant to the played spell for free??? Oh wait...'. Mark Rosewater did say at one point that he would allow the Splice mechanic to splice onto all instant spells if he could redo the mechanic again, so I like your non-sucky version of Splice on legs. This card is clearly insane however. The ability to pay to turn every instant or sorcery into a cantrip (assuming you have a Brainstorm or Opt in hand) is a control player's dream. Doing it multiple times every turn is completely unbalanced. I would love to see something like this printed but there's zero chance of that happening. Or R&D would make the creature cost 5WU or something.
Paradigm Eighty: Yeah, you're right, I'm not entirely feeling the whiteness of your card. But that's okay, that's really only a concern if the card was mono-white. I have no idea what an Infowarrior is, but it certainly sounds cool. It's a shame that the ability only triggers when you're blocking; I would have liked to have seen it trigger when you're attacking too. Apart from that, it's a good card.
MichMash: Your card is quite an odd one. The thing is, Ignus doesn't just take the damage and then deal the same to others, it redirects the damage altogether. That're more of a ability than a :symb::symr:. The concept of a 1/2 Demon is also rather strange. Based on your card, I'm scared of meeting you in real life.
Rimeshade: Oh come on, you're telling me you can't beat a 1/1 Squirrel in a fight? Anyway, I don't feel the rules text of your card feels entirely :symu::symr:. The tribal pumping ability is reminiscent of a white card, Shared Triumph and hexproof is more of a green/white keyword ability. The rationale behind your card is well-explained. But I would have liked to have seen abilities that were more inherently UR.
MagicBrains: I've got to say it - I'm not a big fan of mana costs that have three different types of hybrid mana. If it's a Chinese menu-style card like yours (where one ability from each colour are cobmined together), what it means is that someone could just play two colours (e.g. :symw::symb:) and still have access to off-colour abilities like trample. Having said that, I like how your card fills the niche of benefiting creature tokens. Okay, trample and lifelink aren't exactly useful for 1/1s and 2/2s, but deathtouch would certainly make all those Saprolings and Soldiers that much more deadly. I am, however, disappointed that no Pizza ability was included on your card.

Colours - Black because I am manipulative by nature. I'm not proud of it, but that's what it is. Blue because i enjoy creating stuff and solving puzzles (both in games and in real life) and red because i am emotional at times (It's also my favourite colour in magic). P/T - I'm a normal human being who doesn't work out so yeah...
Ability - In my decks I love having control while also having a bit of randomness thrown in.

I'm aware, but erratic. I'll make plans and think ahead, but frequently abandon those plans because of forgetfulness or a shift in interest, only to have those plans return, still mostly available, when something or someone reminds me. And when I don't have a plan at all, I quickly gather as much information as I can about whatever is going on around me at the time and run with a snap decision based on the moment.
As a magic player, I like to bide my time, conserving my resources and gathering information, until I have such an overwhelming advantage that I don't believe I can be stopped outside of the wildest of circumstances. My avatar reflects this, rewarding patience with new options and resources.
It's a Rare not a Mythic rare, also your graveyard contains sorcery and instant cards.
Coming in as soon as two mana this will give control decks a lot of fuel for doing what they normally do, which is wait the game out. I do like the mechanic of getting rewarded for waiting, in accordance to your personality/play style. I just feel that at its mana cost it might be a bit too good.
Ephraim, Apprentice Engineer :1mana::symu::symw:
Lengedary Creature - Human Artificer (M)
When Ephraim, Apprentice Engineer enters the battlefield, you may search your library for an artifact with converted mana cost equal to or less than the number of lands you control, and put into your hand. Then, shuffle your library. 1/3
I, Ephraim (not my first name), and orderly and curious. I am a calm, disciplined person, and I'm not a fan of general chaos. I always try to think before I act, and I like having set boundaries on things. I enjoy doing puzzles for entertainment, and I'm a good problem solver. I also enjoy learning about, dealing with, as well as fixing machinery. Lastly, I'm doing Engineering at my university.
Firstly, you search your library for an artifact card and also you put it into your hand. There's also no need for a comma in 'then shuffle your library'.
I like how its a creature, yet it feels more like a sorcery. Since all you really want to happen is the CIP effect. This does give nice options with bounce and other stuff. Hving the artifact go to your hand is good for the balance. It also reflects your personality well.

Why this card fits me: Colours: I'm very driven by my emotions, and by a desire to learn. I try to follow rules in general, but will break them if I feel they're wrong - sometimes going out of my way to do so. I try to understand why a rule is in place before I draw conclusions about it. I believe that rules are important and that life would be much worse if people have them, but I don't venerate rules just for them being rules - if a particular rule holds us back more than it helps, it should be discarded. And I think rules shouldn't be applied completely hard and fast, but mitigated by emotional compassion and intellectual understanding of the circumstances.
Ability: I like redirection effects and weird interactions, and I love cards which have one effect, but which is applied in multiple ways - in this case, against opponent's spells the ability functions like a psudo hexproof, while working as a token generation engine with your own spells (or at least the beneficial ones). I love enemy colour pairs, and the wedge combinations even more so. I like tokens which aren't just creatures, because they interact with a wider variety of other cards, and also the tokens made sense as artifacts because I'm a computer programmer with a keen interest in AI and robotics.
I feel this ability isn't out of place here - white has a good history of token producing, and redirection is red/blue. But It could also could work in :symr::symg::symu: - the other colour combination I think best fits me after :symr::symu::symw:. I do have times where I care less about what the rules are and more about just finding my place in the world as it is. So in that way I feel it's doubly fitting for me, as it fits in either of the two colour combinations I most identify with.
Also, I know I have a tendency to become evasive when I feel threatened, and try to shift blame and/or aggression away from myself as an almost automatic response at times - although I do try to force myself to accept and admit when I am in fact at fault. And the ability works with that, as well as the fact that when I'm in over my head, I often rely on calling on my friends to come help me out.
Power and Toughness: I don't like to fight, and in all honesty probably wouldn't be very good at it, but feel I can at least take a small amount of punishment. And yes if I had the ability, I'd have robots do the fighting for me
Firstly, Put a 1/1.
I like the card tough I feel it may be severely underpowered. Since the creature is a 0/2 no one has any reason to ever want to target it. With such a colour intensive mana cost I feel people would expect more bang for their buck. It does compare well to your personality.
Paras, Peace Ambassador :symw::symu:
Legendary Creature - Human Advisor (M)
Creatures your opponents control can't attack you or a planeswalker you control and their activated abilities can't be played. "I was sent here to ensure the end of hostilities."
2/2
To begin: their activated abilities can't be activated.
I feel this card is too strong. For a mere mana cost of 2 mana you can shut down your opponents creatures completely and you've tagged a decent sized body on top of that as well. In a control deck the low mana cost easily allows you to play this with counter mana open. I also feel that flavour wise and balance wise it would have made more sense if it shut down your creatures as well.
Philip, Wielder of Death :symu::symb:

Reach
:2mana::symbu::symbu:: When target creature enters a graveyard from the battlefield this turn, return it to play under your control. Activate this ability only at the beginning of the upkeep phase.

I have a crossbow. I like my crossbow. Fool's Demise is one of my favourite cards, and I'm planning to put together a black commander deck using Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet. As you can tell, I like stealing my opponent's stuff.
Firstly, no rarity is shown when it should be a Mythic rare. Also, When target creature is put into a graveyard this turn (no need for the from the battlefield here), return that card to the battlefield under your control. I would also change the second line to "Activate this ability only during the upkeep phase and only once each turn." which is what i think you were trying to accomplish. Your card also has two abilities instead of one.
I like the card, tough reach really isn't a black or blue ability. Power wise i think 4 mana is a good cost for the ability and it works excellently as a scare mechanic.
Oculus the Benevolent :1mana::symw::symu:
Legendary Creature - Human Monk {M}
: Flip a coin. If you win the flip, any number of target players each draw two cards. Otherwise, each player draws two cards.
1/3
Yeah, the card's a bit of a flop. However, it is the most concise description I can give of me - no matter what, I always seem to be helping (or trying to help) people understand stuff - tutoring, instructing in martial arts, helping a friend (and sometimes even a total stranger) cram for an exam...it also spills over into MTG - I haven't played a 1v1 game in almost two years, and more often than not I'll end up saying "your best move here is to kill me", even in situations where I'm about to win (politics and combo-deck-building are the two things I enjoy most in Magic, apart from card designing of course. Just lets the imagination run wild). What better way to portray that than "I help whoever I want, and worst case I help everybody?"
A nice multi player card. I like the concept of your card, it matches your personality well. However, coin flipping is red, card drawing is blue. The only reason your card is white is because it matches with your personality, but that is not good enough.
Maokun of a Thousand Skills :symg::symw::symu:

Vigilance
You play with your hand and the top card of your library revealed.
Maokun of a Thousand Skills has all activated abilities of permanents you control and permanent cards on your hand and top of library.

Firstly, your card has three abilities, which is too many. Also, permanent cards in your hand and on top of your library.
I like how the card has a built in drawback and how it shouts "build a cool deck around me!". This is a tough one to call on balance tough, since i don't really know all the activated abilities this could combo with, but i doubt there will be anything too broken.
Pocketwatch, the Savant :2mana::symu::symr::symg:
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
Whenever you cast a spell, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is that spell's converted mana cost. Reveal one of those cards and put it into your hand, then put the rest into your graveyard.

Card Explanation: Power/Toughness: I'm a pretty big guy who happens to be an endurance athlete and with some experience with manual labour. I'm not the strongest out there by a long shot, but if someone without martial arts training or a weapon picked a fight with me, they'd probably lose. I might get hurt as well, but that's the way it goes.
Colours: The freedom of red describes me well. I pretty much do my own thing and don't care much what others think, and my desires influence me strongly. However, I tend to be rather self-controlled and analytical, my blue side loving knowledge of all kinds and restraining my crazier red impulses. Green is more of how I perceive order and the world, which tempers both above colours.
Ability: I love effects that say "Build around me! Please!" They don't have to be that good, one of my favourite decks to build and to play with is my Kamigawa block spirit tribal, currently getting shifted from :symr::symg: to include more black and less red. You can mill yourself to death with the above card, or you can be careful and include effects that put your graveyard back into your library (Loaming Shaman?).
No rarity added, even tough it should be Mythic Rare.
A cool card. It gives you power, but at a cost. Which is how it should be. It's priced highly, but with an effect as powerfull as this i think thats the correct thing to do.

I believe in the pursuit of knowledge for the betterment of society and fully intend on doing so in whatever electrical engineering job I land or company I start. Therefore, I mostly align myself with WU since they represent the knowledge and improvement of civilzation together. As for the actual card, one of my favorite cards is Rings of Brighthearth as the amount of cards it interacts with is astounding. Being a WU card though, the card should really only interacts with the abilities of artifacts and enchantments (see Stoneforge Mystic and Academy Researchers) and not creatures or lands so I decided to limit it to those types. However, I also expanded to whenever any player activates it so you can benefit from other's "improvements".
So I need some Magic to ward of the beasties that would harm me in this realm of the CCL....I guess I'll make a nice mixture of magics from my colors.....yes...
Mystifying Gaze -- 4:symuw::symuw:
Sorcery (U)
Return target permanent to its owner's hand, then tap another target permanent, then exile another target permanent and return that card to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step.
My avatar is :symuw:, so the three primary ways that these colors share creature removal is by tapping, bouncing, and blink effects (see Minister of Impediments, Turn to Mist, and Worldpurge). I love versatility in both Magic and real life, and combining all of the aspects of removal into one decently powerful uncommon is exactly the type of card I love to use in limited. This can remove three opponents creatures from combat or can remove two creatures and give you a next ETB effect like Skinrender or save two creatures under two different Arrests.....the possibilities are endless.
Very chaotic card, but definitely on the powerful side as you add more players. Every spell getting a mini-Radiate can and will get very messy especially at CMC3. Saying that you like chaos....I'm not sure if you knew how much this card has.
I definitely like this one...since our reasoning to go was nearly the same. A pretty balanced card if I do say so, although I'm not so sure if it belongs in the W part of the pie. Usually P/T reduction is (see Agony Warp and Merrow Grimeblotter).
While your explanation is great, I would have loved to see something about why you chose USA for your colors. Is it the colors that you felt makes sense for your avatar's abilities or something different? Anyways, great card. I love how you explored the space of changing up the typeline that most copy spell effects have (You may choose new targets etc.).
Yeah, like Kiwi's, an explanation for the colors of your avatar would have been appreciated. I kinda see it more than his (W = taking away abilities ala Linvala, U = copying abilities, G = ....?), but explaining it would be better. As for the card, I like how you can use it offensively and defensively.
I definitely like the story behind yours the best and the abilities match the colors very well. Nicely done.
It's a pretty powerful card.....a control deck drawing 5 cards a turn by skipping combat and one main phase for 3 mana is actually just broken. I'd at least change it to all main phases because if you are going to skip combat, you are going to skip a main phase too since you don't need it.
You probably could have included imprint in the typeline, but an interesting card nonetheless. I would complain again about the lack of story behind the colors but at least you recognize it.
While a little of backstory would have been nice, I definitely like the design of the card. It is pretty narrow but still powerful at the same time. Nothing I would change at all.
See Visara the Dreadful to see how broke your card is. Not saying it is bad, but it needs some kind of drawback or be more expensive to either activate or cast to be less powerful.
TOP 3
1. Dofustal, I think you captured the essence of the request the best out of all the others on Team Ego and you created a card that accurately captured you and your colors.
2. Phyrexian Editor, you were a very close second. I understand that you were trying to create your story with just your card, but it left me wanting to know more about you....
3. Twilight Kiwi, aside from not explaining your color choice to my satisfaction, your card accurately reflected your personality and priorities and was an interesting design as well.

Enlightening Flame deals 3 damage to target creature or player. If U was spent to cast Enlightening Flame, draw a card. As the beast burned, Codex felt a spark of ingenuity.
Twilight Kiwi: I really like the card, though it seems a bit confusing at first towards the end and I had to reread it a couple of times. I feel like you sacrificed what would have been brilliant simplicity for a flashy complicated ability. That said, I don't see why it's white since copying and redirect have always been in RU. I understand that YOU are white but that doesn't show in the card and this is a card creation contest afterall. Still the card is good.
Phyrexian Editor: Another good card! Feels like a mass Sower of Temptation and I already love that card. That said, I feel your creature should be a little stronger (2/2 perhaps) and maybe do something a little more to make it feel Mythic. Sure mass stealing creatures is cool, but so is delivering the wrath of god himself and Day of Judgment is only a rare. It feels like its missing that extra *humph*. Also, why are you JUST a human? Surely if you are the master of language you would fit into another creature type, Advisor perhaps?
Benjammn: The card is fine in itself but its very uneventful. You just stapled another card to your card, made it more fragile, and more narrow. It's balanced but just lacks originality and that Mythic-y feel.
Koopa: Hot damn that card is awesome! Free Forks for everyone! And it's balanced by it's own ability because even if you try to do something burn someone or combo out they can just combo you back! Johnny would love this and the EDH fans would cheer! Oh and the flavor text... brilliant.
MonkeyPlayingMTG: While cool, your card is 100% busted. Imagine if I drop this guy turn 3 and he survives until my next turn, I get to untap, let's say skip all 3 phases, draw 6 cards, then draw another card for my turn. That's insane. I could even do something like skip my 1st main and battlephase and just draw 4 AND STILL HAVE A PHASE TO DO THINGS!!!! Great idea, broken as hell.
Dofustal: Your card is interesting in that it turns someone into a Renegade Doppleganger. That said, this card feels blue and nothing more (though the flavor does do something I suppose). The card is very cool though and very interesting. Nice job.
NotoriousLynx: Cool card. The Psyioic counter seems really cool and is very flavorful. However, the -2/-2 doesn't seem very W or U. Sure white does the whole "I gotcha if youz be attackings", but never at -2/-2, at least to my knowledge. Still not a bad card by anymeans.
Prospero: I really really like this card. If you somehow got this guy next to Akroma... geez... He does feel a little lacking in the stats are though. Sure, having flying, firststrike, lifelink, deathtouch, haste, and trample is cool, but having it on a 1/x is not. Still, very very cool idea and its fits the colors perfectly.
Achren: The card is cool, once I understand it, but seems really complicated and frankly underwhelming in most situations. I also don't think it is green, though UW is fine. I almost want it to be black with Necrotic Ooze being printed but I don't think thats right either. Fair card, just feels awkward.
I Am Reign: I Am Pretty Damn Broken is more like it. There is a reason people play Karakas/Mangara in Legacy and its to have a constant Vindicate that is slower than this guy. Wow. Also, where is the flavor text!! You would have a whole damn card to print flavor text one.

DeusofCalamity - I am not a fan of having full mana and split mana in a casting cost, just seems inelegant. The ability is good though. 8/10
shadowfuryix - I really feel this should be other creatures you control, cause as it is right now, it feels way too powerful, even for a mythic. 6/10

Jimmy Groove - Interesting ability, I just don't feel like the two keywords really fit with the EtB ability. 7/10
Summon_Legend - I like this card, the colors and the ability are hard enough to get off to justify the awesomeness of the effect. 9/10

TwilightSpark -Very nice ability. Very nice flavor text. For a mythic rare it could had cost 1 less to cast. Timothy, Mimeslayer - Very interesting ability. The flavor of the card is almost there. The card does not looks a lot like a mythic rare. Eremity - Very nice abiliy. The ability really feels mythic. In green and black you could get a lot of wolves really fast. Flavor text is ok. 0 power seems a bit of a letdown, a 1 power should had been ok. DeusofCalamity - Very nice ability. I can see a bit of artifact love in white but not so in red. Nice flavor text. shadowfuryix - The ability seems a bit broken. Creatures with enters the battlefield effects would be very powerful in a deck with this card. Krey - That's me!!! Jimmy Groove - Very innovative effect there, really worthy of mythic rarity. Summon_Legend - Very interesting ability, really fits in mythic. The life loss really prevents it from beign too broken. Would have expected to put the other cards in your graveyard instead. xX-TacOcat-Xx - The idea that you have for the card is very interesting, even when the words to put it into a card fails to do so.

NotoriousLynx - Neat ability, but I don't think the card works as written (At least, not the way you want it to work). I think you need it to be, "Whenever a creature attacks, it gets -2/-2 until end of turn for each phionic counter on it."
TwilightKiwi - Hmmm... interesting. It's certainly quite powerful, and I don't think I'd use the protection abilities too often, mostly I would use the copying ability. Feels like a cross between Riku of Two Reflections and spellskite.
Koopa - That... that's pretty cool! Dangerous, but cool. Balanced, and feels mythic. Good job.
Prospero314 - Concerted Effort on a creature. Okay. I like the second ability, and its synergy with the first.
Dofustal - The name's a bit generic, and I think the colors are off (Black doesn't get creature-copy, green and blue do) but I like the ability a lot.
Archen - It should be "...from the exiled card." Also, was this meant to end at end of turn? If not, its stronger, but not overpowered. If yes, its a bit weaker. In no way busted.
Phyrexian Editor - Really cool idea. I like this a lot, and it isn't broken. It probably could have been 3, but at 2 it's fine.
The Reign - Reminds me of almost every assassin-ish creature in the game, closest to Avatar of Woe. Vindicate on a stick is mythic-level power, but boring as a card.
Benjammn - So you basically copied rings of brighthearth onto a creature? Cool render, but unoriginal. Good card though.
Monkey Playing MTG - WOW WHAT AN AMAZINGLY AWESOME CARD PERFECT IN EVERY WAY THIS DESERVES #1 Oh wait...curse you rules! Ignore that

You, sir, have just won the internet. Congratulations.
Holder of Masks2UB
Legendary Creature - Human Rogue (M)
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, target creature, other than ~, becomes a copy of that creature. A man persuasive enough to change others, but still cannot change himself.
0/2
I feel both the ability and the colors fit me. Sometimes I want to change myself, but I just find that I am unable to. Yet, I can sort of persuade others to try new things and such, so I decided to combine the ideas. Also, I don't get into fights, so a 0/2 makes a bit more sense than actually being able to hurt something.
Round 1 Sorcery
Ignorant Glance3UB
Sorcery (U)
Target Player sacrifices a creature.
Draw cards equal to its converted mana cost. "If they slow you down, move along without them." -Holder of Masks
This is another thing I tend to do. When I get angry at someone I don't go straight up and tell them. I end up just ignoring them and belittling them in my head. The not being completely forward with someone is definitely a blue trait I believe, and then belittling others is black, which is why I decided to use both colors with this card.
You shall be critiqued!
I would first off like to say I feel very bad about doing this since it feels like I'm judging you guys, but I would like to say I'm not trying to judge you guys as a person. I am judging what information you presented on your card and if your explanation fits. Sorry if I seem very criticizing. NotoriousLynx
I really like your explanation, but the -/- counters don't really fit W. I do think the self sacrificing thing is very UW, so next time maybe fit that with your card?
Koopa
Scary card, very much a game changer. I do wish you would explain more about yourself with the card than who you are. Tell me why you like some controlled chaos (and if you do, by the way, I'd have to say the same thing about my room). Nice job, though.
Twilight Kiwi
This card was a little confusing to me at first, but after reading your comments I understood why you wanted to make a card like this, and it definitely fit you. Your color choices also fit well with your explanation, the only color I did not see all of you in was U, but U made the card work so, a job well done.
Prospero314
I really liked your story about who you were, I found it quite funny actually. The thing I had a problem with though were the colors, U fit, definitely, but I felt the other colors were there for specifically the card. I couldn't tell you what colors you are though, so just a small explanation of the colors would have been appreciated.
Dofustal
Can't judge myself, but if you clicked this spoiler you get +1 on my points to your awesomeness
Monkey Playing MTG
Your color choices for your card definitely fit your explanation, the thing I don't like though is the fact that on the card you can skip any amount of those phases. Reducing them down to just skipping one would definitely suffice. The looks of it right now seem to be broken though.
Achren
I thought the card's ability was a little confusing, I mean, could I exile a mountain in my card and put its ability on an island? Even if you think the ability should be mono U at least tell us why you think that you are the colors you chose. Then maybe we'll see the other colors represented in yourself.
Phyrexian Editor
Very UW ability, I really like it, only problem I have is, why are you UW?
The_Reign
I feel as if your card should have two abilities, and have to pay some mana for both. A tap destroy for 4 mana is considerably cheap. Especially when it can dodge doomblade so easily. The removal definitely fits your explanation of yourself though. I wish to know about you more than just on the battlefield though.
Benjammn
I very much enjoyed your explanation of why you were those colors and why you made the card. I was going to say that copying seems very RU, but after researching a bit more, I see that there are several of solo U cards. Also the explanation of enchantment and artifact helped boost your W side. Well done.
Top 3
Number 1:Benjammn, nice job, the reasoning behind your choice definitely helped, along with how you made the ability specific to UW well done. Number 2:Twilight Kiwi, if it wasn't for the card seeming to be confusing to me at first, I truly believe you would have taken the number 1 spot from Benjammn. Congrats, though. Number 3:Prospero314, Cool ability, nice story about who you are, just next time, connect the colors wtih a story a little more. You ended up in the top 3 though, so nice.

TwilightSpark - Nice. I like it. Probably not MR.
Timothy, Mimeslayer - Similar to Edric from the Commander decks, but I like it. Simple, and too the point. It's definitely not mythic worthy, however.
Eremity - From the sound of your personality, I would say you are more WG, and the ability on your card is probably WG as well. I could see BG however. Can you actually stand up against a bear? This is probably not mythic rare, but definitely rare.
shadowfuryix - Ok, i can see that. (responce to your explanation) Definitely mythic, seeing as it recurs itself if it dies, and the ability is free. Probably should have said "other creatures", or put a cost on the activation.
Krey - Nitpick: "is indestructible". You have one too many abilities, and this probably isn't mythic feeling.
Jimmy Groove - Two words: "Rules Nightmare". Nice flavor to it, though. You have three abilities.
Summon_Legend - Cool. Nice little card, that I would definitely play in a shaman deck. I would hate to whiff on this, though.
xX-TacOcat-Xx - So it's a repeatable Bludgeon Brawl for creatures. Kinda. It's kind of funny on the flavor. The guy physicall picking somone up by the legs, and using him/her as a weapon. lol

Round 0: Be Yourself

Crits in progress.

1/3

Art: A council room filled with bureaucrats who, by their attire, are obviously from different nations; one of their number seems to be arguing heatedly about something and pointing an accusing finger at another. An impassive-looking council member stands between them.
The_Reign: Vindicate on a legendary stick. Nice, but kind of boring. With such a simple effect, there was plenty of room to build great flavor, and I wish you'd capitalized on that.
Benjammn: I like this card a lot, and it runs along the same lines as my own. I love how much more interactive it is than Rings of Brighthearth.

Balance: For the cost I can see it. Nice.

The dark cannot destroy those whose faith shines bright enough.

At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, secretly choose a card type. Whenever that player casts a spell this turn, reveal the last chosen type.

Coming in as soon as two mana this will give control decks a lot of fuel for doing what they normally do, which is wait the game out. I do like the mechanic of getting rewarded for waiting, in accordance to your personality/play style. I just feel that at its mana cost it might be a bit too good.
Lengedary Creature - Human Artificer (M)
When Ephraim, Apprentice Engineer enters the battlefield, you may search your library for an artifact with converted mana cost equal to or less than the number of lands you control, and put into your hand. Then, shuffle your library.

I like how its a creature, yet it feels more like a sorcery. Since all you really want to happen is the CIP effect. This does give nice options with bounce and other stuff. Hving the artifact go to your hand is good for the balance. It also reflects your personality well.
Creature - Human Avatar (M)
Whenever CodGod becomes the target of a spell or ability, put an 1/1 colourless Construct artifact creature token onto the battlefield, and change a target of that spell or ability to that creature.

Why this card fits me:
Colours: I'm very driven by my emotions, and by a desire to learn.
And yes if I had the ability, I'd have robots do the fighting for me
I like the card tough I feel it may be severely underpowered. Since the creature is a 0/2 no one has any reason to ever want to target it. With such a colour intensive mana cost I feel people would expect more bang for their buck. It does compare well to your personality.
Legendary Creature - Human Advisor (M)
Creatures your opponents control can't attack you or a planeswalker you control and their activated abilities can't be played.
"I was sent here to ensure the end of hostilities."
2/2
I feel this card is too strong. For a mere mana cost of 2 mana you can shut down your opponents creatures completely and you've tagged a decent sized body on top of that as well. In a control deck the low mana cost easily allows you to play this with counter mana open. I also feel that flavour wise and balance wise it would have made more sense if it shut down your creatures as well.
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
Reach

Fool's Demise is one of my favourite cards, and I'm planning to put together a black commander deck using Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet. As you can tell, I like stealing my opponent's stuff.
I like the card, tough reach really isn't a black or blue ability. Power wise i think 4 mana is a good cost for the ability and it works excellently as a scare mechanic.
Legendary Creature - Human Monk {M}
: Flip a coin. If you win the flip, any number of target players each draw two cards. Otherwise, each player draws two cards.

Legendary Creature - Human Rogue (M)
Vigilance
You play with your hand and the top card of your library revealed.
Maokun of a Thousand Skills has all activated abilities of permanents you control and permanent cards on your hand and top of library.

I like how the card has a built in drawback and how it shouts "build a cool deck around me!". This is a tough one to call on balance tough, since i don't really know all the activated abilities this could combo with, but i doubt there will be anything too broken.
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
Whenever you cast a spell, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is that spell's converted mana cost. Reveal one of those cards and put it into your hand, then put the rest into your graveyard.

Card Explanation:
Power/Toughness: I'm a pretty big guy who happens to be an endurance athlete and with some experience with manual labour.
A cool card. It gives you power, but at a cost. Which is how it should be. It's priced highly, but with an effect as powerfull as this i think thats the correct thing to do.

Enlightening Flame 2R
Instant (U)

"I'm sorry, but you'll just have to come back later."

The guy physicall picking somone up by the legs, and using him/her as a weapon. lol

Take a mechanic from the pre-mirrodin era, and a mechanic after the mirrodin era, and create a card that flavorfully melds both mechanics.
