Default Little boy Blue *this is not about me!*

So someone threw this on my desk at work yesterday and I was reading it and the more and more I read the more retarded I felt. I honestly never knew that crap like this could be printed. I mean I believe in the power of empathy and I'm willing to change my opinion on this issue if there's sufficient proof but WOW what random claims this thing makes.

So. Got ADD? Lucky. It means you're psychic What do you guys think?

Here's another site that talks about it.

oh man, the natural progression of new age is into psudo-science.
At least is a cheaper alternivite for kids then medication, better for there self-respect also. Instead of being told "you and your behavior are a problem" they are told "you are very special, you have powers"

Sheesh! I stopped reading when I got to: "He had embellished certain parts to make the story more exciting, he acknowledged, but the essence of the book was true. He called it allegorical nonfiction."

Im a decently open minded person. I believe that empathy exists and,on rare occasion, anyone can have a momentary insight that is near psychic, but this seems to reek of a scam.

I get an impression that a lot of these people are trying to fill a void. Of what? I don't know. Perhaps Dusk and Day can shed some light

All I know is, someone is going to write one hell of an anime off this ****.

The fact alone that he is called 'Dusk' immediately shows how untrue it is.

Or Yu-Gi-Oh.

"My kid is an Indigo. He waits inside a deck of cards, until someone plays him, and then he fights the opposing monster, unless he is playing Keiba, because then he would lose, because Keiba has Blue Eyes White Dragon, and there is no way in hell my son could kill that thing."

This borders on criminal neglect. These people should all undergo psychiatric evaluations. They're just a bunch of mentally brittle people taking advantage of a child's ignorance and desperation to fit in, and convincing him he has special powers when in fact what he has is potentially a serious, lifelong mental disorder.

Call me crazy but I think there is a bit of truth in it all. I mean we have known for a long time that kids with ADD tend to be smart and rather intuitive, so there is nothing new there. And leading a more agrarian lifestyle could very well help people with ADD - look back 200 years and do you see much complaints about kids with ADD-like symptoms? No.

However all the stuff about "indigo kids" being more evolved and what-not is a lot of b.s. if you ask me. Just because a person is really intuitive doesn't mean that they should be allowed to not pay attention in school. I myself am ADD, and I know first hand that sometimes the best way to learn isn't in the traditional American public school setting. I think the best way to deal with these kids is a combination of traditional and alternative medicine and teach kids in the way they learn best.

Since the environment is hostile toward those with mental disorders, wouldn't being an indigo make them unfit, and thus be selected against?

They clearly think evolution works like in X-Men.

I agree. This is corny as heck; as it has been filtered through ignorance. This very well could be possible, but when I think about the "I'm an avatar," Dusk said. "I can recognize the four elements of earth, wind, water and fire. The next avatar won't come for 100 years" part, I shunt it off and restrain myself from throwing up. C'mon, people, why are we always getting this weird nature/ spirituality stuff getting in the way of science? Okay, so this is pseudo-science, but if we can research it more unhindered by this rubbish, maybe it won't be pseudo-science. LIke, what does 100 years have to do with anything? First of all, 100 is a base-10 number, any universal number system is probably going to be a binary system. Second, why a year? That's once around the sun. Once around for this insignificant planet. But I digress. Whatever. That's just my opinion.

If there's something to be learned through the study of people with ADD I'm fine with it. I can accept that they have to learn through more unconventional methods and I'd even be willing to figure out what the best way to teach them was because I have always loved teaching people things. It'd be an interesting thing to step into the mind of someone who's constantly bouncing around. Maybe the world is too slow for people like that and right now human genetics make it impossible for them to go as fast as they need to. But the next level of evolution.... and I wasn't invited? Ugh. So not fair.

It all seems so silly lol.

I took the survey in www.theindigoevolution.com, and it turns out that "there is a very good chance that [ I ] would be considered an “Indigo”."

Actually, I'm mentally precocious.

In my case, I do have "above average" intellectual powers and speech (although I dislike calling myself "above average", as I believe no one is really above anyone else). I correspond to most of the description they give of the "indigo child", except that instead of some random and useless psychic powers, I have increased sense of humor and can do better reasonnements than Average People™.
The problem ? My sister is precocious too, and so is my mother, and so is her mother (and maybe my aunt, etc.). We are a happy Above Average Family™. Not a quote from a cartoon .

All they are doing is giving intellectual precociousness more merit than it is due. Please move along, nothing to see here :P.

It's significant because that is how it works on the nickelodean show. If the rest of the article had some evidence and/or thought put into it, that itself would make me disbelieve it. Too bad I didn't believe it in the first place. I mean, yes, many ADD and ADHD kids are smart, but this is BS. Plus, how can we see the "Blue Aura" around them? Is it only seen by a select few, or only seen by indigo chidren themselves?

This thing has as much scientific basis as Intellegent Design. I hate when people try to pass off guesses and crazy theories as true doctrine.

EDIT: Yeah.. I took that quiz too. The questions basically say that people that are willing to lie or have mental problems, or are smart are indigo children. It physically pained me to answer some of the questions, they were so obvious. If I wanted to be an indigo child, I could lie may way through it easy. As is, I have a high chance... but mostly because I was blessed with intellegence and don't like traditional teaching methods and school systems.

Is it just me, or is the whole Indigo phemonenon just an example of extreme narcissism. Just look at the pictures of the kid; he looks like the ultimate poseur psychic. And don't even get me started on the dad.

EDIT: the more I read into this, the more I realize my loathing of everything New Age.
