It's a shame there's no 5-color Spirit legend. All five Kirin/Baku/Hondens/Dragons/Myojin/Patrons with Thief of Hope/Glitterfang/Frost Kami/Bile Kami/etc would be epic.

I agree. I know I'd play 5 color in a heartbeat if there was a general for it.

Urabrask, the Hidden is a good haste enabler but taps your opponents stuff which can be bad.
The problem with this general is having no way to untap permanents you steal.
Urabrask would have made the cut if it wasn't for the tapping bit.
It doesn't matter too much if I can't untap what I steal, as long as I can sacrifice it. It'd be better if I could untap it though
After getting some serious testing done with this deck tonight I don't see why everybody seems to think the whole spirit and arcane thing is bad. This deck held it's own against everything that was thrown at it
I've always found the spirit/arcane (most the concept of arcane and splicing) to be very interesting and something I hope they revisit so Kamigawa isn't so parasitic. It seems like a lot of potential that is simply hindered by the lack of cards to fit in.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Weiss Schwarz Sets
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.
Chaos Partners
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Iona, Kirishima, Kongou.
Dangan Ronpa: Asahina, Togami.
Freezing: Vibration: Chiffon, Satelizer.
Vanguard Clans Favoured
Angel Feather, Dark Irregulars, Genesis, Neonecter, Pale Moon, Shadow Paladins, Tachikaze.

I agree. I came back at Kamigawa after a long break and I've been amused with the spirit and arcane thing since. I'd love to see another Kamigawa block just to see more of this stuff

It seems a very tight list, I like it. It would be fun winning with a mechanic that people really underestimate.
It seems to annoy people for some reason. Probably because the mechanics of the deck are underrated.

Ya know, I really like Charmbreaker Devils for this. Could be fun. Maybe the new Chandra, too.
Both seem like great suggestions. When I've played the deck a bit more if I determine any weak links I'll look at these 2 for replacements
Some of the spirit/arcane cards seem like they are only here because of the type. perhaps some of them could be removed for better spells that have less synergy with the general.
These are also great suggestions. I'll look into spots for them as well.

To a certain degree you're right, For the deck to work properly it needs to have not only a high number of spirit and arcane spells but also diversity across the casting costs. I've tried to pick the best options to account for that but have ended up having to run some cards that seem subpar.
That being said there are some hidden gems in here too. For example, I wrecked a Uril player with Aura Barbs yesterday
i really like the deck idea. looks like a lot of fun to play.
the sweep spell looks like great defense against armageddon effects, as well as synergy with your myojin....
I can't really argue with any of these suggestions. I like the idea of having a few options up My sleeve. When I've done more testing I'm sure some of this will make it in.

I haven't had a chance to that yet but I'm due to play with My regular group tomorrow and hope to get that trick off there
and the crucible combo. crucible seems like a no- brainer for the myojin as well. not to mention with crucible you could run mouth of ronom for recurrable colorless damage....
on another note, if you are looking for additional sac outlets, you might try altar of dementia, diamond valley (if you play online, as the costof a paper one is rather prohibitive....), and keldon necropolis (also colorless damage). kher keep can turn into a rather effective engine for clamp as well.
being a huge fan of the spirit/arcane mechanic from kamigawa block, I really want this deck to do well. you may have inspired me to try to build this myself.....THANKS!!!!
Of the cards I suggested, what I really see you using is maybe the
[cards]greater stone spirit (for the defensive pump, and the ability to grant firebreathing)
The problem I see with Him is that He's a 6 drop. He's competing for a spot with things like Ryusei, Patron of the Akki etc..
Quote from ash and fire »
lavaborn muse (for the mana cost, the extra damage is a bonus
He very nearly made the 1st draft of the deck. The only reason He didn't was I found a foil Shinen of Fury's Fire to put in that spot

This is a cardboard deck. I may still get the Diamond Valley though. I don't mind spending the money on good stuff. The others I'm not so sure about. I've got the 4 mana doublers to think about so I've gotta keep the mountain count high

Wow! That's really cool. I'll look for 1 next weekend when I'm at the card shop
yeah, its a better option than 120 plus on a diamond valley.
also, bazaar trader seems like its worth a look....
I'd have no problem with shelling out the money for the Diamond Valley if it were the right choice for the deck. City of Shadows is better by a huge margin.
Bazaar Trader is interesting but if I'm adding more non spirit/arcane stuff I really need to look at recursion 1st. I'm actually thinking about testing Past in Flames
past in flames seems good for this purpose. though it may completely negate the value/necessity of elixir.
as for the greater stone spirit, I think its far more versatile than patron, and at 6 mana you need at least one more 6 drop. you are going to want one every time someone drops a sphinx/titan.....
on another note, having a way to get lands into play would be a great benefit to you. to this end I would reccomend explorer's scope you are allready running two ways to manipulate the top of your library, and with the cheap one drop critters you run, especially glitterfang the acceleration this provides you would find indespensable. I run it in all my red decks and its a house.

Not really, Elixir is still My only recursion for creatures.

I agree. The only reason the patron made the cut 1st is that He's more aggressive and I needed some bigger bodies, I guess an argument could be made for running both though so I'll test it if I can find it. We don't see much in the way of titans in My play group, mostly just Sun Titan which isn't too bad and I've only seen 2 sphinxes at our table.

I'm already getting ahead on the land count with Thawing Glaciers
true, but glaciers is one card, and you have no tutors for it. plus its mega slow as it takes a land drop. scope is a one drop and rewards you for doing what a red deck does, attack. if you have a one drop creature, and scope on turn 2 you could have 3 lands, and on turn 3 you could end with 5. there is an enormous difference between that and glaciers. I think it more than merits a look. while there is a bit of randomness to the card itself, ball and top eliminate it completely, and its not just basic land, you can drop glaciers or any nonbasic with it.

These are all valid points but for the moment Thawing Glaciers seems to be doing the job. Mana hasn't really been an issue so far but if it becomes 1 I'll try the Explorer's Scope but I'm not worried about it for now.
Past in Flames and City of Shadows have made their way in to the deck now. I'll post how they do after the next edh session.

some good non-kamigawa spirits that could help. also, mono red needs help in other departments, I agree charmbreaker devils could help. If you have a crucible of worlds, buried ruin and haunted fengraf would be awesome additions to your land base.
