MTG Salvation

Been wanting to do a Druid tribal deck for a long time. I'll be slowly trying to build it since I'm on a budget. I decided to go with Seton on this one to see if I could ramp quickly.

Quite a few of the cards were removed from other decks. I merged my Rhys, the Redeemed and Teneb, the Harvester and made a Ghave deck. I had leftover pieces and traded some cards around.

I'll take ideas that aren't budget so that if I ever get a chance and this works out well, I can make the deck better.

So if anyone wants to offer some input, that'd be great before I actually get the rest of the cards within the following weeks.

Swapped Thelonite Druid for Norwood Priestess Getting the fatties in for cheap is just too good.
Nantuko Vigilante for Citanul Woodreaders Trying to increase the card draw.
Basalt Monolith for Lignify The mana rock isn't really needed and Lignify seems like decent removal.
Ley Druid for it's better counterpart Krosan Restorer
Farhaven Elf for Arbor Elf Need to get Seton in faster and Farhaven conflicts with Seton T3.
Expedition Map for Nantuko Tracer Testing to see if I really need Gaea's Cradle that much.
Cultivate for Regal Force Card draw is awesome.

What about Glimpse of Nature?

I haven't tried. I'll test it out first. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hmm. I have played a varient of this deck before - i'd say Mana Reflection, Horn of Greed and Oracle Mul Daya are good plays too.

Also, like elves, it has a infinite draw engine - Cloudstone Curio and any other two 1cc druid drops + either gilt-leaf archdruid or glimpse. Throw a mana reflection in and you'll have infinite mana too. I like to do that and end with a Squall Line. Lol!!

That said, I prefer playing Druid Lyrist compared to Changeling Titan. I think there are quite a few other druids you're not playing too - Heritage Druid for example. Gatherer might give you more options than I can throw out. Another card to consider would be Nature's Will

I've got the Mana Reflection already in the ramp section. Let me try some of the other cards. What are you using Druid Lyrist to do?

Also, how have you done against other mono-green decks? Like an Omnath or Azusa?

Against mono green, this is just a killer. You throw things out fast enough to overwhelm them while they are setting up. Downside is, your guys aren't spectacularly huge, so it'll be like ant bites - that's where the drawing factor comes in. You need to hit a COA, Eldrazi Monument or Beastmaster Ascension ASAP for them to hit hard and finish your opponent before they take over the game.

Too many a time I have went on to throw half my deck out, only to find that I can't hit my finishers (Baru, Kamahl, Monument, COA, Beastmaster) so card draw or tutoring is very, very important to take advantage of this deck's explosiveness. If done right, it is as fast, if not faster, than the Ezuri decks out there. Only difference is that Ezuri brings the finisher with him, whilst Seton brings a very solid mana base.

As for Druid Lyrist, he's an enchantment removal. Perfect for removing stuff like Solitary Confinement, Moat, Ghostly Prison etc. A huge plus is that he's another 1 drop, so he can be cast real easily and could be part of the cloudstone combo that I'm talking about too.

Also, i kinda missed this card out, but crop rotation is a fairly good card here for you to fetch your cradle out.

Ok, I'll try that out. I already have crop rotation in there before too. It's in the Mana Ramping section. I'll need to test Cloudstone Curio. What turn are you usually averaging your kills? Also, what would you suggest removing for the cards mentioned?

I've been using this current list. It's been working wonders. Many of the people I've recently come across don't know what to respond to especially when I'm just throwing out little druids with ok abilities. I tend to run into Genesis Wave a lot and from the Genesis Wave I come across Eternal Witness. Sometimes I'll have Eternal Witness in my hand and just Genesis Wave again in the same turn to either combo at or swing for something ridiculously large. This deck, by far, is my favorite. I would never have expected it to do so well and ramp so fast.

Cloudstone Curio, Gilt-Leaf Archdruid, Umbral Mantle, and Genesis Wave are awesome.

He is in my decklist under the Mana Ramp section. He's been one of my favorites early game as well.

Cool, I was wondering what I needed to remove for squall line. I'm more used to using the card types as headings than using functionality categories.

What do you think about cards like Recycle here?

Its a very interesting card, but I'm not sure I want to drop down to 2 cards incase I don't have what I need to combo out. Ill try testing it out though since I can't fully think about a situation where I need everything in my hand.

Yeah, that's my worry since card advantage is kind of big in mono-green.

Ritual of Subdual, you can lock opponents out of their land and use your druids to gen your green mana could be a really nice lockout.

I'll run through some rotations with both suggested cards. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to cut for them?

Hmm, that could work. I'll have to see how recycle goes this weekend.

Primordial Sage is also another interesting idea. I don't like the large mana cost, but it also doesn't force you to discard.

It's the same mana cost as Recycle. I thought about it too. I just wasn't too sure on it.
