Finally decided to make another deck, and sadly again it's Mono colored but it's green so I'm alright with that. Green is my favorite color in magic, I love having Mana and lot's of it.
For the deck I wanted to do a theme like I did with my monoblue deck Ixidor, Reality Sculptor, so for the deck I decided that it was either going to be Snakes or Shaman's. Snakes for the reason well I mean it's snakes, there's already a few good legendary snakes that give pumps to my creatures; plus the one that allows me to draw a card when dmg is done, and shaman's for Sachi. She allows me to tap my shamans for GG which is kind of nuts.
Well toiling with the decision on which to build I finally made up two list, oen which isn't finish and the one you'll see below; I haven't test played the deck yet which is driving me nuts but I want some opinions and suggestions from other people. I feel like the deck might explode out of no where or bide its time but honestly I feel that the deck is going to have to be super aggressive.
I feel that as someone that normally play green that I should be running a Terastodon, or something like Acidic Slime, also I can't help but think I don't really have another win condition except for just pure damage. I know of Triumph of the Hordes but I don't like winning with infect in a deck not dedicated to pure infect seems cheap to me. I do however think that maybe Overrun should be in the deck or some other worldly grant of Trample, and other pumps besides my Legendary Snake creatures and the Coat of Arms.
I also feel that Doubling Season doesn't have much of a purpose, the original build was the just make snake tokens but now most of the deck doesn't do that anymore. So take it out or leave it in?
I need some suggestions cause I'm going to be play this deck by the end of this week, most likely on Friday or Saturday. Any hidden Mono Green gems anyone knows about?
Too bad about the hybrid mana rule - Snakeform would be nice for flavor at least.
Probably drop the Doubling Season without much in the way of token makers or counters. Chameleon Colossus is a nice snake.
Yeah I could see dropping the Season for the Colossus I forgot about him for some odd reason. Anything else that could possibly make this EDH a threat.
So changed out Doubling Season for Chameleon Colossus seems better since I'm not so dedicated to making a bunch of tokens even though I can. Which also makes me want to put it back in.
But for now I think I will roll with this so tell me what you think, and yes I know its a snake deck but some other stuff to help the deck would be nice.
Vitalize, maybe it's a bit weak I could always take it out, it's just another way to turn an all out attack into a good defense when somewhere declares an attack.
Death Hood Cobra, yes he's good I'm not sure if he goes in the deck, but I'll try him out since I have some laying around.
Orochi Hatchery I dislike, it was in the build originally but I took it out due to one, the Double XX casting cost and that it cost 5 to tap, yes I'm playing ramp green but I'm looking to get the most from the cards. I might try it again, but I'll have to play around with the card and see how well it works.
Are all good, you probably already know about them. I like them cause they give your deck utility: some removal, tutoring, and ways to get back Seshiro if he gets tucked.
Seed the Land seems like it could give your opponents creatures to block and prevent you from drawing cards. Idk.
Fauna Shaman- She could go in the deck if I find room for her, she is a creature tutor, but she's still a creature herself; Survival of the Fittest seems to be better.
Eye of Ugin- I don't want a land that's not going to produce mana, and I don't care for spending 7 man to go find a card.
Genesis- He could go into the deck, just a point of putting him in if he can fit, I personally don't like him, but I know he's useful.
Tectonic Edge- LD I get it. Might put in, might get a Dust Bowl as well.
Duplicant- Yay Creature removal, I can cut something for him.
Oblivion Stone- I can't believe I don't have this in there yet...
Worldly Tutor- Already in the deck
Tooth and Nail- Don't see much of a purpose for this card in the deck, but I'll ask about it, I know it's good I run it in my other deck.
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre- I think Kozzy goes over Ulamog in this deck just for the card draw.
Adaptive Automaton- I understand it's another pump but I already get enough from my artifacts and my creatures, I think this doesn't belong.
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth- Need to put him in to recycle the deck.
And I understand when you say that about seed the land, I'm kind of hoping to be able to get over there creatures, I don't know maybe you're right and maybe not I think for the first build I'm going to try the card out see how well it helps and hinders me.
It was in the deck it just didn't make the cut, too much mana to make 1 token.
Thanks for the ideas and some of the mistakes I made lol
But thinking it through now really should add in Brawn, I mean there's kind of a good fair amount of graveyard hate in my play group, but I might be able to get around it, maybe not. having all my big snakes have trample is a very good thing, and I might drop a Land down and go to 33, to add in the O-Stone.
