MTG Salvation

I try to do a theme deck arround the idea of Orzhov. A world of chaos with technology of the 17th-18th century. On the council of Orzhov, they have to do sacrifice for the happyness of everybody and in there culture they have the possiblity to get back to life dead people for using them again. My deck turn arround this. Sacrificing creatures for extracting the full potencial of the creatures and reanimate them for using them again and again.
I expect a lot with Innistrad right now because the theme of this set turn arround something very similar than Orzhov. I didn't do place for the new cards but I will think about that when I will have the cards.


The deck was a multi-tactic deck base on long time game.

I want to abuse ETB/LTB and the ability to sac.



The synergie with all this card was really vast. With a little bit of imagination and mana you can do really good things.

Yeah!!! I'm a big fan of Orzhov. The style of card, the art, the ability. It's my best colors in the Ravnica block. The history behind Orzhov was really good.

The new Liliana was So-So. For the price it's not a card I will buy. If someone give it one or I open one I will trade it for it's full cost. I'm more interested for card like Bloodgift Demon.

Planeswalker - Liliana Mythic Rare 1BB
+1: Each player discards a card.
-2: Target player sacrifices a creature.
-6: Separate all permanents target player controls into two piles. That player sacrifices all permanents in the pile of his or her choice.

The cost was low this is nice but the ability has pretty low impact in a game

+1: It's a Rotting Rats without the creature... I don't see why you would like to discard your hand and if you want to use this for reanimate it's to slow. You can use better card for that and that will cost less mana.
-2: Chainer's Edict, Diabolic Edict, Cruel Edict. I prefer a Diabolic Edict in instant than this Liliana. Yeah, she can use 2 time the sacrifice ability if you -2, +1 and -2 but that take 3 turn and I never see a Planewalker stand more than 2 turns in the battlefield. I will prefer playing Consuming Vapors. For 3B you do two Chainer's Edict and you can some life. It's easier to play in multicolors deck because you didn't need two black mana.
-6: Curse of the Cabal effect that was harder to resolve than a real Curse of the Cabal. It's take 4 turns to use his last ability. If they didn't have answer for her i'm pretty sure you can win the game without her and the problem I see was you only target 1 opponents... I didn't like stopping a players like that because his game will be ruins and he will have to wait for the next game. I prefer using Curse of the Cabal than Liliana for this ability because with Curse people will sacrifice permanent for putting counter on it until you resolve it.

For all this ability and possibility on 1 cards Liliana Veil wasn't a bad planewalker on a reanimate deck because you can control and discard you big fatty. In a EDH deck where you will use all of his ability and you can protect her for aggro player she was excellent. I will not include her in my deck for two reasons. I will not spend money for her outside of under 10$ and I didn't have the protection for using her enough. They will die by aggro player because I didn't have enough blocker. That's why I will prefer running
Buried Alive and Entomb if I didn't have them in my hand or I found a really good strategie. When I have Land Tax out it's pretty easy to tutor every turn for 3 lands because I didn't have ramp. So after 1 or 2 turn I have more than 7 cards so I discard land If I didn't have interested creatures to reanimate in my hand or if I have Yosei, the Morning Star, Sheoldred, Whispering One or Butcher of Malakir, I discard it and reanimate it next turn.

In conclusion Liliana Veil can only be play in a defencive deck who use reanimation or madness. Otherwise It's a slot you lose IMO.

Thx. Welcome to the Orzhov color. Yeah Dawn of the Dead was a amazing card half of the time I prefer tutor for him because it's give haste to the creature I reanimate. If no creature interest me in my opponents graveyard I will 100% tutor for him otherwise it's a hard choice.

Sorry, I didn't update this list. Volrath's Stronghold is in my deck for long time. It's a amazing land for multiple use. Saving card from being remove of the game from your graveyard or get back creature for cast it.

Rune-Scarred Demon was a amazing creature but I just don't know what to cut for it. It's CMC give me the only option to cut a big creature so the cut his pretty hard. I will do some test to found what will be better to cut. Maybe Liliana Vess will be cut. I found her pretty high CMC for the getting card next turn.

Martyr's Bond CMC was to high. I try it and I found it's a death card because I have better thing to do with my mana. Grave Pact is easier to cast and I cannot sac other permanent then creature so Martyr's Bond loss is advantage.

Unburial Rites I try it some game but never found it interesting maybe I will try it a little bit more.

You can always cut necromancy for rune-scarred demon. You lose a reanimate slot and your average cmc goes up, but hey, you get to tutor a creature you want, and if you tutor up for a debtor's knell or a dawn of the dead, he'll come up every turn until someone RFG's him.

Also, martyr's bond may cost high, but it's another grave pact for you, in case your meta runs a fairly high enchantment hate.

I love Necromancy! I only have 2 instant reanimate into my deck Necromancy and Corpse Dance (I didn't count creature that can reanimate like Adarkar Valkyrie). Instant reanimate spell can be really interested because you can reanimate a creature from nowhere.
With 3CMC you can get it back with Sun Titan.
Entomb + Necromancy was a amazing mix for instant shenanigan.

Diabolic Intent was a amazing tutor 2CMC and didn't reveal what you search. But I have the same problem, if I cut Liliana Vess for the Demon what can I cut for Diabolic Intent... I didn't have lesser tutor in this deck and I didn't want to cut my number of creature. Maybe it's time to cut some Sac outlet :S
I have few option to cut: Ashnod's Altar and Spawning Pit. I found Ashnod's Altar pretty hard to use because a huge part of my deck require BW. I didn't need a huge amount of colorless. I will do some playtest with Diabolic Intent without Ashnod's Altar.

If anyone have idea for a creature I can cut for Reveillark.

I cut Twilight Sheperd for Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter. I found Twilight Sheperd didn't do what I want him to do so I cut it because it's a deadly card half of the time I draw it.
