Hey guys. This U/G deck focuses on landing a Mayor and just countering and or killing everything. Almost EVERY CARD has flash so this is entirely draw go oriented. The swords always have a target which is nice and Deceiver exarch does very well at killing and blocking humans, not to mention the Beast Within token. Here is the list.
The SB mental missteps come in against humans and RDW. Trinket mage is for fetching Nihil Spellbomb against Solar Flare and provides another sword body. Perilous Myr and Emissary are there for speed-bumping aggro.
THE QUESTIONS ON MY MIND ARE
-Where can I fit in Ponder? Im sick of drawing land and needing a counterspell or something to put a sword on. Replace Think Twice with Ponder?
-Should I play Dismember instead of Beast Within? Yeah it only hits creatures...and costs 4 life....but it doesn't give them a token I can block right? I like using Beast Within because it can hit my own dudes to get bigger.
The idea of abusing a flipped mayor is a sound one especially with counterback up. I would really thingabout upping the land count and dropping a couple exarchs

He has a really low mana curve, 24 lands should be more than enough.
I don't think you should drop Beast Within. It's too flexible, being able to answer any permament, even being able to target your own land EOT to gain a 3/3 body. My blue/green deck runs 2 beast within/2 dismember. I like having both.
If you want more of the "wolf" theme, sword of body and mind is the best in this deck, being able to put wolf tokens in play.
I would drop think twice and play 3 ponder. You have enough card advantage in this deck with garruk, mayor of avabruck, and snapcaster mage.
I also can't help but think overrun is nutz in this deck. Flood the board with tokens and doods, turn 6 or 7, drop overrun and win.
clone effects are very powerful with mayor, since if you clone him it will never flip back. And it will make the token immediately.
Something to be aware of is that gutshot is going to see a bit of play, considering the number of powerful x/1's and illusions out there. (it was also in several top32 SCG lists) I love mayor and want to play him, since he wins the game on his own flipped... but I really worry about making a noninteractive t2 play.

I have to agree on U/G/r as where it's at.. Red has some good thing it can bring to the table like.. Arc trail.. For one.. Will post a list when im at my comp to illustrate my idea
I've actually decided not to go with red. It just seems unnecessary, as Daybreak Ranger doesn't really generate the tempo necessary for a control deck. That said, I've altered it a bit to make it rather sword-centric. Invisible Stalker seems like a good creature in this kind of deck.
The deck is obviously sub-optimal. I'm personally not a huge fan of curiosity, and tree of redemption seems less than great. I'm considering more dissipates, ponder, and maybe even make a wish. thoughts?
I Have been testing a list similar to yours Cedric except I replaced snapcaster mage with grim lavamancer since it's better against mono red and has better synergy with my wolves. I also really like garruk in this deck as he can just flood the field with wolves.
Here's what Ive got.

Land 24
4 copperline gorge
4 hinterland harbor
4 sulfur falls
4 forest
4 mountain
4 island
Creatures 13
2 phantasmal image
4 grim lavamancer
3 daybreak ranger
4 mayor of avabruck

I've been working on something similar, but it has been difficult. First off, I've decided that I really, really miss terramorhpic expanse. Here's my list
So there are some obvious differences between this and some of the other lists others have mentioned. I really like Garruk 2.0 rather than 3.0, but I will admit that the extra G commitment does stink sometimes. However, once you play him it becomes a dire situation for an opponent without a large board position featuring several or evasive creatures.
The general strategy is to drop skinshifter or mayor early and then sit back and develop into garruk or the sphinx. I'm a little counter lite, and I'd like to support more, but this build can't really support UU, so no dissipate. That having been said, the counters I'm using usually work pretty well.
I also think its worth discussing my situation with birds. Basically, I run the two GSZ's as 2cc birds unless I don't need the mana. I just hate drawing extra birds in the late game.

Snapcaster needs a few spots. Yeah it flips your guys. But what is better. A flipped mayor or a game loss? Counter that bomb or knock out that planeswalker. Use as a 2 if IR something.
I like snappy, but I don't really think I run enough targets (seven counters and the dismembers) to make the inclusion worth it. I have considered it, especially if I decide to run rampant growth, which I have considered.
@Goblin--how have the vipers worked out in your build?

Viper is exactly what I may start to steer away from actually. The idea is o either drop a t2 Mayor or flash creature and just counter everything and maybe equip the dude eventually. It;s so draw go that I pretty much just wanted to CRAM all the flash creatures in standard in it. The problem though is that there is not much removal in these colors, so Viper fits that role as well. I may veer away from the Draw-go aspect a bit and make it more UG control. Hopefully Dark Ascension will bring us good stuff for U/G

I really like this deck. I spent a little while messing around with a G/W humans build, and I didn't like the humans aspect that much, I just fell in love with Mayor of Avabruck. I found myself riding more wins through him and Garruk Relentless than most of the rest of the cards in the deck. Also draw-go has always been one of my favorite deck styles. Will definitely be testing this one out.
Hmm, I like the emissary and vigil, getting the numbers right seems tough though. I still don't think that I want to run red, but I could be convinced.

I want to run 4 Mayor, 4 GSZ, and 4 Leak. I'm really not sure what should fill out those other slots.
I also kind of want to talk about Full Moon’s Rise and Moonmist. Obviously I can tell they are nothing amazing though I don't think they are as bad as a first glance would have you believe. FMR allows you bring on the beats slightly more aggressively while also giving you an on-board out similar to Glen Elendra Archmage and Dauntless Escort. I don't think it's as strong- but somewhat comparable. Moonmist makes aggressive strategies easier to fight while also providing the much needed flip against decks that can easily cast 1-2 spells each turn.
I cut the cackling because I felt I needed more creatures so I put in sorcery-speed clones instead. I don't think that this current build has a good matchup verse anything so I'm not really sold on it, but again, it is untested.

Cackling Counterpart might be good. It clones a flipped mayor on their turn, and the clone can't ever flip back.
EDIT: Also, Sundial of the infinite looks to be amusing tech.
