Genesis Wave have return and this time...going to be different. Alot of cards are gone. Hope can make a wave hit
I have some deck ideas to play with Genesis Wave. Not the best but can make it better
There was GU Genesis Wave thread but foiled. Phyrexian Metamorph don't work well with Genesis Wave but you have to copy the creature or artifact that is on BATTLEFIELD. That works but if nothing to copy...it dies
Here is the new best mana/land card to make your Genesis Wave. Make your list and test it.
The basic premise here is to go “One Drop, Three Drop, Explode”, thus the goofy name. You want to drop a mana dork, then drop one of your three drops (Hopefully its Llanowar Elves into Elvish Archdruid, but Avacyn's Pilgrim into Palladium Myr still provides an explosive start). Your end-state is to build a ton of mana through mana dorks, tap them all, play Village Bell-Ringer, untap (with mana floating, hopefully), tap them all again, then play a ginormous Genesis Wave.
This wave should hit at least one Village Bell-Ringer and, if you don't already have one, a Mentor of the Meek. Then you can continue “going off” and drop a ton of guys on the board. At this point, you can try winning this turn if you have enough elves without summoning sickness that can attack with a couple of Ezuri ultimates or just wait a turn and attack.
It's definitely a Glass Cannon deck, though, so use it with caution!
Im still upset about my GU deck not being what I thought it could be lol.
But today, I was actually working on a GR Wave deck. I love the idea of waving into Urabrask and any titans. Without question, he needs to be in any RG Wave deck.
Just a rough first draft, but I think this could be really interesting. T1 Birds, T2 Shrine, T3 Emissary (chump block or Altar's Reap to get his land), T4 Wave, x=6? I think this could be interesting, at least.
The G/R Wave deck w/ Urabrask is also interesting, especially in a meta dominated by Wolf-Run. Start playing Forests and Mountains, and they'll hold back removal for threats that won't come.

I know lol Get angry...make it work! lol You can do it! I would love to hear some ideas you got. Like Jurassic Park...Life will find a way lol
I like the idea of Urabrask the Hidden. I am gonna change it. Thoughts on this?
Been good against all non-burn decks. It single-handedly sets you up for a T4 Titan if you draw the lands. I just felt like some draw power would be good in the deck to hit my Genesis Waves. From what I've played, they've been better for me than for my opponents nearly all the time, unless they can take really advantage of the mana, other than just dumping a couple more threats onto the board. Good synergy with Massacre Wurm and the Curse too (they get to apply more threats to the board, but they're all weakened/ going to get squished).
Might end up cutting it though.
I can see that. I wonder if running both the Shrines and Rites would be too much. Looks like I've got some testing to do.

Acidic slimes and frost titans in wave are awesome. you wave and blow up all their stuff or tap it out then beat them down the turn after.
Indeed! It is good stuff to bring LD force. It used to be Polymorph deck so I thought...why not use Genesis Wave. I added lil flavor to bring Phyrexian Metamorph to join the LD force. Bring your ideas to make it better.
For the G/U version, I think Snapcaster Mage as a 2 or 3-of may be really good here. That way, hitting non-permanents with the Wave isn't the end of the world. Flashbacking a Genesis Wave with a Shrine on the board is pretty sweet, as well as getting back counterspells or sideboarded artifact hate. So the blue package for the deck would look something like

The problem with Snappy is that we usually want to tap out for a wave, leaving no mana left to use his ability. Sure, you could get lucky and flip the exact amount and colour of lands, but I wouldn't count on it.
Also, here is my current list, but I think Mana leak will need to be added soon:

I think I'd want to tap out against, say, a RDW or something, but I don't think I would against a Solar Flare or U/B control deck. I'd much rather have mana open to counter. So I take 2 off the X value of the wave; I'd rather have a slightly smaller wave go through than try for a bigger wave and have it be shot down.

Well, if you don't wave to the max then you won't get value. It's tough to ramp in the new standard now that cultivate, overgrown barrier have left, so waving for min. 6 is much harder to do.

Not with Shrine of Boundless Growth. Even though that could be O-Ringed, etc, it allows for a growth of X=6 on turn 4, and bigger each turn thereafter.

Really? I always thought that card was trash. Have you playtested it?

Only goldfishing so far, I was testing a different deck for states this past weekend. I should be able to actually test this more later this week, though. But, in theory:
T1: Forest, BoP
T2: Forest, Shrine
T3: Island, Viridian Emissary w/ Leak mana open (2 charge on Shrine)
T4: Forest, Shrine=3, Pop the shrine, Genesis Wave for X=5 (6 if you chump w/ Emissary)
And that's with only 1 green spell being cast w/ a Shrine out before casting Wave. I'm also thinking about Caravan Vigil (possibly) as another way to get land into your hand and power up the shrine. It would work well with Rites of Flourishing, which is another possibility.
I really have a lot of testing to do.

I understand that. If we wave for less than 6, we couldn't cast our Titans from it. I was merely positing a situation. If we take that scenario and play a Birds or a Llanowar Elves instead of the Emissary, then we'll have the 6 on turn 4.

True only if you get stuck a bit. I need 9 manas to get the Wave going but 12 manas I say in my gut...GG for sure. Palladium Myr can help out speed up the Wave. 25 lands is alot but you can try 26 lands if that works

In either version (G/B or G/U), we should be able to get more advantage out of Rites than our opponent. That being said, against control, I can't see us wanting them to draw even more cards and accelerate into their bombs as quickly as we can. It's definitely worth testing though.
What other tempo permanents are out there right now besides Frost Titan and Acidic Slime? Some that come to mind right now are Aether Adept and Tumble Magnet, but I can't see either of those doing us much good.

What about RG ramp with Warstorm Surge? It makes your Genesis Wave lethal as hell. You can even use some funky creatures like Phyrexian Hydra for easy win. Also, UG builds were usually done around Frost Titan and Acidic Slime disruption - many decks of current standard have serious problems with mana bases, so it can be really hard for them.
Interesting idea with Warstorm. Got a list idea for RG? Agree...UG LD can be good and give a lock along with Mindslaver. Good time!

Mindslaver, Volition Reins, Ratchet Bomb. There gotta be some goodies somewhere
Mindslaver's a possibility, and Volition Reins was already a lock in the MB for me. I think Ratchet Bomb would be more of a sideboard card; sure it wrecks tokens, but I don't know if we'd use it against anything else in particular, aside from Tempered Steel.
I really like Garruk, Primal Hunter here, so you can refill your hand after a large Wave to keep the pressure on. Wormcoils are also nice, of course, but Revoke Existence is being played in a lot of sideboards. That's not an argument against it, per say, but it's something to keep in mind. This is something people won't be expecting, so having an unexpected threat keeps the advantage in our court. I'll see what I can find for other tempo/land destruction permanents we could play around with.
