I love it when they drop cool stuff like this mid-week, when you'd least expect it. Only 4 days to vote though, which is good; streamlining, baby
I included, as you see, a poll there to get a feel for which one's winning of the 10. (past YMTC threads on 1 and 2 have stuck around in the Mill, so i think this is an acceptable place...don't hang me If I'm wrong heh)
I'll edit in my thoughts on each after I get this thing up...
edit: OK thoughts(note that I'm a nazi for creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, so that'll ske wmy views on a certain direction ) :
Art 1-Little fishy dude. Not a whole lot of room for experimentation ability-wise here, but decent.
Art 2-Hairy man. Like the first one, not a lot of room for creativity mechanics-wise here, it'll end up being a green beater of some sort one way or another.
Art 3-Booom. As much as we'd love to make a big boom effect, it'd probably get nerfed one way or another, and the art isn't all that nice looking IMO, its like a bad Hildebrandt piece. I say refrain your inner Timmy and vote for a more flexible art, but the Timmy voters of the world probably tend to have deaf ears
Art 4- Now this I like. Its...odd. And it also happens to look powerful, while being subtle. Lot of felxibility, and the nicest work art-wise of them all.
Art 5-Dust lady. Hokori, Dust Drinker and Sandskin kind of come to mind here. Good white cards used to be in short supply, and this could lead to any number of powerful White abilities, so I wouldn't mind this one, albeit I wouldn't push for it.
Art 6-Nice contrast of colors and juxtaposition and all that. He also looks like a mighty fellow, which is always good.
Art 7-Its a treefolk. With stuff coming down in the back. Its a very nice piece of art, but I feel its a bit limiting.
Art 8-Anythign that make sme think of Urza's Block art is a good thing. Also could be virtually anything ability-wise, which is nice. A little too pedestrian for me, though.
Art 9- Anything that makes you go "WTF?!" when you first look at it is something I could love :). Nice and bizarre. I have no idea what the hell is going on there, and to me, that's a good thing. Make for some off-the-wall submissions on the abilities, that's for sure. Every person can intrepret this differently, which will spur diversity...
Art 10-Has "Spike" written all over it, as much as 9 screams "Johnny" and 3 bellows "TIMMYYYY!!" A high quality piece of art, and has the nice felxibility of being either a spell or a creature.
My vote, as you can probably tell, is going to either 9 or 4. The more diverse the submissions, the better chance we'll get an ability that rocks, and thus a cool, memorable card, and arts 9 and 4 I feel will spur the most out-of-the-box submissions. *Vote 9 or 4!*
that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
I chose 5 because it seems like it would offer a lot of flexibility. It could be a creature, an instant or a socrery. It could be white, black, maybe even green. Plus it just looks the best
Although numbers 7 and 10 are pretty good too. I wouldn't mind if 3, 4, 5, 7, or 10 wins

I went with 4, it seemed like some kind of glyph of a never-before seen god or something. It kind of gave me the feeling of some impending doom coming to get the beholder of such a forbidden spectacle....
...in short, creepy.

I know the perfect guy for the third faction:
"When you show up to the Mirrodin Besieged Prerelease, you'll be asked to choose a faction: Mirran, Phyrexian, or Jaded A-Hole" Aaron Forsythe, on Twitter
Everything changes, nothing remains without a change - Buddha
I voted 3 for BOOOM factor here, but in the actual vote, I picked 4. It's simple and unlike anything we've seen. #3 reminded me way too much of Obliterate.
It is obvious which one they want us to pick (#3) - that is obviously a mass destruction spell, and they can cop out completely by having us create one.
I voted five because it can be any type of permentant beyond a artifact or land. Plus it's superb. I liked the tree as well because it can lead to new abilities for it is protecting a small plant from blue fire.
anyone else think that #6 was drawn with markers. It gives off a childish feeling. I just dont like #5 because it just seems blah...#9 is just...i dontk know, the monkeys shoulders mess with me. i might vote for it just because i love monkeys.
its either 2, 4 or 7 because they seem like art that would actually get printed on a card (5 i could see too) 2 and 7 are limited so ill say 4...but still those monkeys.
I really like #5. It by far the best art. It also has the most flexiblity. It could be a sorcery, Instant, or Creature. In it's current form it could be black or white, but Wizards has colored adjusted cards in the past (Check out Goblin Charbelcher http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/arcana/466).
Art #5 along with #4 and #10 give the greatest opportunity for color adjustment.
I voted 5 because I just love the whole feel of the art...its just beautiful, plus i like white and that helps..
My second choice would have been 9 because it is so freaking wierd.

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
I voted #5, with #4 being my runner-up. Is it just me, or could #5 end up as the Lady of Frost, and go into Saviors? In any case, it just looks freakin' cool, and capable of not only any spell type, but most of the colors, as well (White, Black, or Red, easily. MAYBE blue or green, but that's pushing it. Definately not an artifact, but that's not saying much).
Honestly, if we end up with #9, I will probably not buy from the set unless it has a truly kicking ability (or if the rest of the set is absurdly good, as well). WTF is all well and good, but this crosses a fine line.

Some wonder why I carry 8 decks on me. The answer? I get tired of being boarded against in casual games, and 90% of the players I meet can't beat a jank deck I made to be tokens for a serious one.
When I look at these pieces, I don't just look for what appeals to me. Seeing as how the art can determine where the card can go, it would be appropriate to choose something that doesn't just appeal to the eye, but also has a wide interpretation of what the card can represent.
My interpretations:
#1: A creature, or even possibly a creature enchantment. Could go either way, but it definitely looks black.
#2: A creature. More specifically, a green ape (or even a yeti???) with two extra arms. Fairly straightforward.
#3: This one screams red or red/black sorcery a la obliterate. Once again, fairly straightforward.
#4: This is where it gets interesting. This is most definately going to be red, but this can be seen as either an instant, sorcery, or even an enchantment.
#5: Here we go. I can see this being on a creature, instant, sorcery, or creature enchantment, and could be either black or white, but mostly leaning towards white.
#6: This one is a little more difficult to interpret. It could be either a black or artifact creature, or even equipment, if you see it as a suit of armor rather than an actual creature.
#7: I could see this being on a color hoser for either blue or green, most likely instants for either color, unless it would be a creature along the lines of Spellbane Centaur.
#8: Black or blue/black creature, or a black instant along the lines of essence drain, only with more flair to it.
#9: Reminds me of that character from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, and as such, puts me in the mind of a black creature, probably with either an assassin ability or even (ugh) plainswalk.
#10: I honestly don't know with this one. Could be DD or even an enchantment, but due to the cyclops character it would almost exclusively have to be red.
There, that having all been said, I voted #5 for flexibility of interpretation and aesthetic appeal.

There are some nice choices available. I like #6 but I feel that the art is going to dictate the rest of the cards abilities. As mentioned before #2 can not be anything but a green fatty.
I really like #4 and #8 for there pure flexibility.
i'm a sucker for a pretty face and #5 (i've named it Dream Weaver) gets the nod from me for that reason.
as noted earlier in this thread... do the appropriate color touching to make it work for whatever color the card ends up being (Dream Weaver... blue?).
i'm very excited about this round of "you make the card"...
The only pieces I like are #4, #5 and #8, because the rest feel much too subpar to be put onto a card. I voted for #5 because it's the best, and my favorite. It's perty.
I too voted for #5. It's easily the most professional in appearance, IMHO. #4 is my runner up...it's odd and could almost be anything, but it looks nice. I thought #7 and #8 were pretty good too, but didn't really care for any of the others.
voted 5... time to put White back in the game! (was her or 8... would make a nice blue or black spell...)

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"
2/2
Well, unless there are enough "I'm going to vote 9 cuz it looks weird" people out there, it should be pretty obvious which piece will be selected.
Of course I'm talking about 5. As much as I'd like to see the tree guy win (it's almost like he's dying but is sheltering the smaller plant from whatever is going down around him, kinda cool) I can accept that we'll probably be seeing 5 on a card.....now if we could just get this YMTC 3 thing over with so we can actually get it printed before Odyssey block rotates out of extended....
I voted 7, cause I like Treefolk and flaming blue things. It's like Treefolk meets blue Stone Rain meets Forbidden Orchard. Also, the treefolk's human-like features, and bark texture looked way too cool.
I liked #4 and damn...maybe I should have voted for that instead...it's in my colours but it looked a bit too plain to me.
Nothing about 5 really really appealed to me that much.
I didn't like 1, 6 or 10 at all, 2 looks too straightforward, and 8 and 9 are a bit creepy.
If 3 gets chosen, it better have a damn good ability to go with that art!
3, 5, and 7 are really nice looking and I'd love to design a card around them. I went with 5 because it looks so well drawn. I guess that shouldn't have been my main criteria, but oh well! I'd prefer to do a MALE figure instead - why are all creatures in Magic girls these days? Even the fierce ninjas and fox warriors in this block are women. When in history did women become the fighters? Oh well.
5 is good because it doesnt have to be a creature. It could also be a sorcery, instant, or enchantment.
