I recently came into some Frost Titans and wanted to put them to use. It seems they are one of the least used titans in the game at the moment, but a great pairing for Gideon Jura's -2 ability.
Anyway, here's an idea I had.
The deck revolves around using Frost Titan and Sun Titan to pummel my opponent. Green is there for the mana ramp. I've kept the CMC of most other cards low to compensate for the high cost of the Titans. Also, I want to be sure I have lots of targets for Sun Titan's ability.
Phantasmal Image is my utility card in this deck. I can clone the Emissary for additional mana, or clone a titan (prefferably Sun Titan) in the late game. If the Image gets killed, no big deal. Sun Titan will bring him back later.
There are two things I stil have issue with in this deck.
#1: It's only running 22 lands. With the six titans and two copies of Gideon Jura I know it should be 24 instead, but then I'd need to cut two spells. I'd hate to give up a Ponder or a Vapor Snag to get the other two land in.
#2: The sideboard. Autumn's Veil is a no-brainer as is Ghost Quarter, but what else would be good to include here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Quarter should probably actually be MB. Titans aren't mana intensive, so you will be fine. Bant titans is fun, but you will definitely need more than 22 lands, closer to 24-25. With the BoP and Emissary, I would go with 24. Also, I just read your point one... I am going to leave this up representing me being an idiot not reading everything before posting...
Anyway, second point would be that Negate isn't your best option for counter. With so many creature heavy decks in this meta, you probably should be running Mana Leak, because once you hit 6 mana, you should be golden anyways.
I'm still not 100% on the sideboard. I've got two more card slots to fill in it and don't know what else to include.
Back from the Brink is one card I thought of adding, although paying its mana cost and then having to pay the mana cost of a titan makes the card prohibative.
Postmortem Lunge is another idea. I could use it on a titan or a Phantasmal Image (provided there is something fat to copy) to get in a quick amount of damage.
Thanks for the suggestions, Duesalpha. Yea, Mimic Vat looks like it would tear up here. Maybe it gets a spot in the sideboard? Don't know about putting it in the main, but I can test it out that's for sure. Now I just need to get ahold of a few copies...
And you're right, Disperse is probably the better option until it rotates out.
By RDW, do you mean all-out aggro smashing into my lifepoints? If, so I'm thinking I can bounce/counter/chump block most of the attacks with the Emmisary, Image and Birds whille I ramp up. I can also use the Images and the Metamorphs in my sideboard to mirror what's out and try to hold out until my deck can swing back. Plus there's the Day of Judgement for board wipe too.
What other tactics do you suggest against RDW? Off the top of my head I can think of including Celestial Purge in my SB. It's a cheap way to rid myself of any red permanents. It would also deal with Chandra's Phoenix quite nicely.
This reply should probably be its own post, but seeing as how its an evolution of my previous titan deck I'm going to keep it here.
Every now and again I go back and read How to Build Better Decks. In it, one of the rules it states is to always have a plan B. Bant Titans, while fun, has no solid backup plan.
With that in mind, I propose a R/U/G variant of this same deck idea. The plan B here is to rain fire from the skies and burn what the titans can't crush underfoot.
If you're really set in running 8 titans you'll want more ramp than 4 rampants and 4 birds imo or they'll just be clogging up your hand. I'd also run 26 lands, if not 27, for the same reason. For ramp I'd either add solemns or add llanowars and sphere of the suns, which would give a decentish shot at 3rd turn titans, which could be sweet. Acidic slimed could be solido too, ramp into slime into frosty seems hard to beat. Also if you really prefer rug just for the burn option then run devils play or snapcasters and brimstones.
If you're not married to playing 8 six drops if try something more controlling. I posted a bant list somewhere the other day, its been really good so far, I'll track it down when I'm not on my iPhone.
Actually Dscherli, I'd prefer to stick with titans. I dig your Bant build, but in the end I'm reconsidering and really looking to R/U/G for the added burn option it gives me.
And Acidic Slime is a great idea! It didn't even cross my mind. Here's the latest build I will playtest with my group tonight.
This build gives me a fair amount of flexibility. I can switch from a burn variant to a control variant or something in between rather easily. The only problem I can see now is card draw. If I swap out cards to make the deck more controlling, I'm going to want cards like Ponder and Think Twice to keep my hand stocked. However, I don't know what to cut to add these cards (or if I should add them at all).

It's not as "fun" as Bant I think, but much less vulnerable to disruption, since you have the direct damage to fall back on.
