Ever since I dismantled my ineffectual Sliver Queen blink deck, I've been missing it (or at least the concept). I've been staying away from Rasputin simply because of idea idea of not playing green in a blink deck seems dreadful, but...screw it. I have a WU skeleton now thanks to my Isperia deck, and I have most of the other cards from Queen, so it's a straightforward matter to switch everything over and make this.
The list as it stands is seriously all-in on the blinking, so I'd be curious to hear other Rasputin players' opinions on whether it will be able to stand up. Particularly, what does everyone feel about bounce effects? I've left off Curio, Shard, Leviathan and the like for now, but suspect they're probably good enough to include.
I actually play astral slide and a bunch of cycling cards in mine. I like how the wall and scrivener can always get a cycling card into my hand. I didn't aim to build it as a competitive deck either, but playing all the runes of protection and replenish so I can justify Serra sanctum has t been bad.

I'm really bad at EDH (magic in general but bear with me) but why use Rasputin Dream Weaver as the General?
Also, just out of curiousity, is your title a refrence to anything?

Yeah, I'd love to have Slide going here just for the sake of it, but it takes too many slots.

Absurd amounts of mana. Assuming you still have the six used to cast him, you have thirteen mana on your next turn! Hence the four random fatties in addition to all the blink. And he fits nicely into blink because blinking him restocks his supply of stored mana.

To not know Russia's greatest love machine is a sin, my friend.
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.
Any reason for the lack of Nim Deathmantle? Are you avoiding the combos or would that not work so well in your group?
Simple reason: I did not do a full trawl for cards for this list. I just searched for blinkers and blinkables, then performed a Rathi overlay onto my Isperia list. Seems like a more reliable Mirror Entity combo than the classic. What's something random I can take out?

That would make perfect sense. Also, you mentioned something about justifiying no green? Does green do blink too?

Twilight Shepherd out. I tried her but it never worked - blink actually makes her worse.
Turn into Mist out. It's a relatively weak one-shot. Add Blasting Station to combo with Nim Deathmantle and Rasputin.
Planar Guide flopped a lot too. He would take my dudes away as well as their Primeval Titans, Sun Titans, Sundering Titans, Titan Titans. If he just yanked your dudes, it would be great.
I also run World Purge which is such garbage but it seems to do more damage than any other spell in the deck. Usually I bounce one of the Eldrazi or just Ghostway everyone and with Rasputin-mana I play Purge. Games often end with me and my Ulamog on an empty table staring and the other players.
I actually know the song from this version as well, but I would feel bad linking to the cover because that would suggest I don't know the original. Turisas annoy me - they're one of the bazillion folk metal bands who I would love listening to if the vocalist didn't feel the need to growl all the time. Eluveitie, Equilibrium, Finntroll, Wintersun, etc, etc.

What makes you say that? I generally found her to be pretty decent in Queen.

I'd feel bad about not running every one-shot blink. Except Voyager Staff for some reason. I don't know. Just indulge me on this one. Station is too crappy by itself for me to want to include it.

I have many memories of it being very good in Queen, but logically you seem to be right. I'll get back to you on this one.

Man, how could I forget about this one? I ran it in my Venser, the Sojourner deck (don't ask), and it was really sick. Use Venser to blink himself, Worldpurge, almost guaranteed ultimate. Good call.
For now, let's go -Shepherd, -Nevermaker, +Deathmantle, +Worldpurge. Fair?
I disagree about slide taking a lot of slots as 5 cycling spots are land and a 6th is eternal dragon which is just good any way. You could very easily lose your "ramp" spots for a few more cyclers and play solemn as your ramp spell.

Still seems like a lot of disadvantage for one card.
Anyway, I've finally got this deck together, so hopefully I'll have plenty of opportunities to test it out in the near future. The first thing that needs some attention is the mana base, because the lands are ported directly from Isperia at the moment. Giving it a brief look, Mistveil Plains just doesn't fit here, and Prahv is a bit on the mana-hungry side. There are no obvious nonbasics I can find that should be in here and aren't yet, although Arcane Laboratory isn't terrible given that Rasputin is now a Wizard. So for now, let's go:
and see how it goes. I could probably do with a few more basics, and cutting a land wouldn't really do much damage, but let's see how the testing goes first.
Viper I swear I am not stalking your posts/Decks...
i run a recursion package in my Rasputin that when it fires off is great. i think it may be watering down my deck though. I also run all sorts Windborn Muse, Ghostly Prison, Norn's Annex, etc... Silent Arbiter has been nuts in this deck before. Trying to keep people off my back until I have some blink worthy shenanigans.. the only thin I don't like is the way the deck is now its not even midrange, more long term and I would like to take advantage of Rasputin's potential to be explosive...
Thanks for posting your deck will be keeping an eye on it.
I used to have a Rasputin deck on MTGO, which had a bit larger emphasis on playing big-mana stuff than you currently have, in addition to the blinking of course. It was far, far from optimized, and I no longer have the decklist, but one thing I made use of was Spine of Ish Sah. It has the magic casting cost that lets you drop it immediately after casting Rasputin, and has natural synergy with the blink effects that can target any permanent type.
Not using Tawnos's Coffin ?
It's bit slow so that the creature comes back on your next turn, but I think it is one of the best reusable "comes onto battlefield" enablers.
Just some idea's - I run rasputin and love the deck, I have it 100% foiled out now except for Tundra and Moat (maybe some day...), but here are some cards I have a ton of fun with =)
Deadeye Navigator - just super-blink and completely bonkers
Riptide Lab - this card is great, as I have a wizard subtheme (and of course, Rasputin is a wizard)
Sunblast Angel - blink on attack step is fun
Omniscience - Kinda a 'win more' card, but its fun w/ leyline and magus of the future out =)
Angel of Serenity - its an amazing super O-ring that you can bounce with triggers on the stack to make pesky creatures go away forever =)
Crystal Shard - I use it more to bounce my own dudes in response to ***'s or removal, but it can be used in a pinch
Vedalken Dismisser - This guy is not amazing, but if I can stack blink effects it makes sad opponents as they know they are going to draw critters for a while =)
Diluvian Primordial - Cast a bunch of spells on ETB? Blink fun times ahead!

I would probably lose Proteus Staff, Nevermaker, or Vedalken Orrery.
Sorcery speed kills the staff. It's far too slow.
Nevermaker is good on paper but... that's about it.
Orrerry is just worse than Leyline. I think one effect is enough.

Absolutely disagree, the card is absurd. Try it.
That's pretty much what I recall from Sliver Queen as well. Probably.
I'd like to keep both in for now to see how good they are in this deck. You're probably right though.
Tempting! Forgot all about the infamous Sundial. By my count, ten of my blinkers work with it, of which two are repeatable. Hmm.
What makes you say that? I generally found her to be pretty decent in Queen.
