+1 to sorin being B/W
It does look a bit weird now that you mention it, but he's a vampire. He's got the strength to wield that sword however he sees most badass.

Speaking of Sorins Sword, might that be the Bloodletter Raben was hunting?

Absolutely love the Sorin art and the playmat art. I will be picking up a set of those sorin sleeves and most likely one of those playmats. Love the flavor of this set already, and hopefully it holds up to Innistrad, one of the best sets in recent memory.

I drooled at the playmat. I usually pick one card from a set to collect and that one seems perfect for me. I hope it's a nifty vampire with a weird ability!

Also, I'm totally buying that playmat and I don't even know what playmats are for!

i wish they'd stop with that computer generated garbage. it looks awful. i would never buy those sleeves.

the art on the box feels really generic and completely uninteresting. is it supposed to be liliana? some random goth chick with a big snake? either way the shadowing is terrible.

kind of curious as to what the card on the playmat will do, but since they never choose anything powerful or even iconic to go on a playmat, its probably interesting (not great) art from a crappy card that no one will use outside of maybe limited.

I really tend to agree with anti-computer art sentiments and yours is no different. Do I appreciate the use of computers to create art? Yes, but I would love if the medium didn't dominate the art on most Magic card sets presently. Please, wizards, give us more of a variety than CG-ed artwork.

This. A step into the right direction.

Things that kept me from buying Playmats are
1. The Numbers as Lifecounters
2. Akward Borders
3. Logos / Setname
->So ANYTHING that covers the art.

right? i mean, the way steve argyle uses the computer to create art is pretty alright. its overly stylized and very generic, but it doesn't look... bad. enhancing art with the computer is great, it makes it pretty generic sometimes, but sometimes it works pretty well to make something stand out more. lately though this stuff is just... terrible. that promo art with nissa and sorin fighting eldrazi was some of the worst ever, and this new sorin art is almost on par with that abomination.

drew tucker's water color atrocities during fallen empires may not have been for everyone... but at least it had some style and uniqueness. i'm not saying it was by any means good, but i'd take that over this unmemorable trash.

That mat is insane. Sleeves/Deckbox are fine, Innistrad's were better.

So, okay. I just took a look at the Michael Komarck Sorin artwork again... Yeah, that piece is so much better than the art on these sleeves.

So Magic is catering to Gothic Lolita fans now, eh? It's only a matter of time before vampires sparkle.

I wonder if you're right!

My take on the art: Sorin is too symmetrical, his features are pinched, and his sword is incredibly awkward even if he is leaning it on his shoulder.

The snakecharmer has the best art by far, but why are 9 out of 10 women in Magic always a 9 on the 10 scale and covered in skimpy, impractical gogo gear? (My shirt can hardly contain my boobs and it doesn't connect to my sleeves, but you can see my shoulders! Isn't that sexy lol?)

The vampiress in the third art suffers from more unnatural symmetry and something I like to call squishboob: the artist conforms the figure's breasts to the clothing rather than the clothing to the breasts. Uncomfortable.

Now I'd like to see what the Ultra Pro Dark Ascension binder looks like. That's what I always look forward to.

I know someone who's going to love that Sorin artwork. And while I don't really like the art on the playmat, I dig the cleanness of it as a whole. The art takes up the whole darn mat, while the logos and copyright stuff all stuck in corners. It's a mat I'd be happy to play on, despite that I dislike the art.

Don't really care about the deckbox. I just use the ones from the Event Decks.
