Remand This card is too good to be ignored. I run them in the mainboard and its saved my but many times in the games I have played.
1) It can be a storm engine in its own right. Don't have Pyromancer Ascension or Past in Flames? Doesn't matter. Play a few rituals, some probes or cantrips, maybe even a Manamorphose. After that play your Grapeshot and then remand it back to your hand. You still get all of the copies and you get to cast Grapeshot a second time for the kill!
2) Need a way to slow down the clock against those pesky burn decks? Or how about getting tempo against other decks? Just play Remand!
3) Counter-spells got you down? Need to protect your engine for one turn? Remand has your back for that critical turn.
4) Mind break? Please... Remand straight up invalidates it. Cast your win-con, they cast Mindbreak Trap. What are you gonna do? Cast remand returning your Grapeshot. Let there trap resolve, and then just replay your Grapeshot after thier Mindbreak has resolved.
5) with to active Ascension you can use remand to create loops.
Okay... I love this card obviously, but what has your experience been with it?

I believe it to be a mandatory card for for this deck for all the reasons you stated + 1 reason more: you can win counter wars by targeting your own counters and reusing them OR bringing the originally countered card back to your hand.
It just feels so good whenever you play it, and so.... dirty
I'm not a fan. Too often I need remand to be a ritual or cantrip. Unfortunately it's going to cost about 4 mana to just cycle remand with one of your own spells. If you run 4 ascension, maybe this is a good 1-2 of.

Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
Check out the following screenshots from the mirror -- you tell me - is remand awesome? This was a game that was unwinnable otherwise. My opponent was about to go off in the mirror, but I was able to manamorphose into remand, and then turn around and play ascension and win this game!
Seriously though, it's an extremely important part of the deck. Simply countering their turn two play when you are on the play is awesome, having protection against mindbreak trap is also very good, and of course, the play the OP mentioned, where you remand your own spell to increase your storm count and kill them.
Overall, it's just a really strong card that should be played in every version of this deck.
also, the dude on the remand art looks like he's casting hip hop or something.
tl;dr Huntmaster will see play in sideboard, rarely mainboard, and if you disagree, sig this and feel free to rub it in my face when the time comes. 'Cause I want him to be maindeckable.
As I found out not too long ago, when you have two active ascensions in play, remand reads "1U: Return the spell you cast, but not its copies, to your hand. Draw 2 cards. Buyback 0," because you use the first copy to return Remand to your hand and the second copy to return your spell (or your opponent's i GUESS) to your hand.

Had semenulative upkeep before it was fashionable. Look what you forced me to do, Wizards! IT DIDN'T HAVE TO GO DOWN LIKE THIS!

Like I said, I can only go by my own experience, which is now 18 years. Kind of disheartening when you think you know something and you find out that you're a notch below a low grade moron.
Since Epic Experiment came out, there's another interaction with it. If you Experiment, and flip over a Remand and Experiment, you can use Remand to return the flipped Experiment to your hand. This is useful for post-SB games where you'd have taken out Past in Flames to avoid grave hate - instead of letting the Experiment hit the bin, where you'd have no chance of using it again, you put it in your hand instead.
Anyone think this is a good idea for the sideboard? It's a good utility spell that happens to have synergies with your two wincons (Experiment and Grapeshot).
Problem is I don't have room in the list for it, nor do own a copy.
You could very easily build a controlish swath storm deck with 8 counters if you wanted, but most people choose to just try and combo as fast as possible.
I think it is more a matter of personal taste than quality of the deck.
