This thread is a re-do of the infamous Round 88 of the Poetry Running Contest where no one voted! (Well, Guilan voted; but after "failure to vote" penalties, basically no one won.)
I've promised Sam111111 a while back that I would get around to re-doing this round but never got around to doing it; so now, I'm making good on my promise. These old poems are coming out of the freezer and we'll decide a winner once and for all.
Because many of these contestants are no longer active, I would like to appeal to the good graces of the PRC community to help us decide a winner.
There will be no "probation" penalty for failure to vote this round, only one vote deducted from the entry.
Remember to adhere to the "Honor Code" when voting.
While it is understood there is no absolute means to monitor the intent of a vote, we ask each PRC participant to exercise integrity when voting out of respect for the contest:
- Please give each poetry submission an equal opportunity in attaining your vote.
- Please read, or at least skim, all the entries before voting.
- Please do not vote for your friends just because they're your friends.
The Poetry Running Contest puts good faith in its participants to act in an honorable manner.
Have fun!
**Interested, new participants should submit their poems here.
Madding made a weird peace, VERY unlike what he usually does. Actually, he couldn't possibly be more un-Madding. His usual pieces are one to two stanzas, with each line consisting of maybe 5 words at most. This was a piece of prose that deliberately lacked structure- and I loved it. The imagery was beautiful, it kept me wanting to know more. I felt remorse and spite towards the main character, both growing as the piece went on. But most of all:
I felt bad for the horse.
Dihydration Monoxide I liked for the opposite reasons. Do I know what it was about? I'm pretty sure it was oxygen, or carbon monoxide, or some such. I don't know. I do know it was simple and powerful. Also, successfully rhyming Epitaph with Strife? Damn.
I did lay out my heart and inner thoughts in that poem...a hidden message that can relate to all, I do love the power of words.
I'm sure glad after a 1 1/2 years later the lost will be remembered,
S.M.

Dihydrogen Monoxide = H2O = water
I loved the imagery in multiple poems for this round, most of all Madding and Minion of Boredom.

I noticed the poem was very passionate. I felt like your Poem about Eyes was just much stronger than the one you actually submitted. If I'm not mistaken; it's about the perceived judgements of others- especially for things they probably don't notice. Insecurity and a bit of Vanity are things I can relate with.
