Not really that great in board now that punishing fire is gone. Several of the decks that use the yard have all been banned or are not good enough for modern. If things change on the ban list significantly then we will see what happens.

In life all we can do is try to make things better. Sitting lost in old ways and fearing change only makes us outdated and ignorant.
Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.
Albert Einstein
Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.
The best thing it can do is nab a Flashback spell (Teachings or whatever is Snapback'd).
Outside of that, getting something that you know is in their hand is always useful but not enough of a reason to be boarded in. It's usually not right to randomly extract cards with no graveyard utility though and getting Martyr or Melira is pretty bad. It's negative Card Advantage and the deck can still win.
You CAN, however, extract Finks in response to the Persist trigger which is enough of a reason to use it against Melira Pod.
Most of the cards that you will want to use this on will have already been effective by the time they hit the graveyard, so unless you're running discard, I do not like it. If you ARE running discard, use Extirpate, instead.
No...it is AWESOME!!! So much better than Extirpate!
(come on guys...when NPH came out I could not stop pulling the fracken things, so I have like 12 in a storage facility that I cannot get at (and 8 in my trade binder) and I would love to unload them while they are worth a few bucks. Unfortunately it will be a few months before I can get at them, so if you would please use this card like crazy in winning decks, I would be most appreciative.)
I'd say mass-graveyard removal is better right now, unless you're running tons of spot discard effects.
Relic of Progenitus can neuter past in flames, whereas extirpate requires it to be in the graveyard prior to going off, so they still get to reuse all the spells in their graveyard after the first time it's cast. Relic is also better against gifts decks, living end strategies, or any other strategy that uses multiple cards from their grave.

I'm thinking this is a great sideboard card in the format. I'm trying to make a list of all the decks that you can shut down with this card:
Martyr Proc: Extract Martyr and this deck is completely neutered.
Melira Pod: Extract Melira and the deck is completely neutered (I think?)
UR Storm: Extract past in flames? I would say to extract the win-con but it's difficult to get that in the graveyard to begin with.
Zoo: not really useful
Affinity: not really useful
Teachings: extract teachings? or their win-con
BRG Loam Control (Assault - Loam) BRG
W Mono White Control (Martyr - Proc) W
