If you have ever looked at nearly any Sharuum list before now, this one may not be of much use to you in getting ideas. If you wish to look at straight combo Sharuum go here. bitterroot's list is well tuned and had a huge influence on this deck. Also, this article has some fun, non-combo stuff going down.
Please feel free to comment or leave constructive criticism. I still feel there's a bit to much draw and tutor for a non combo deck but I couldn't begin to start cutting. But maybe it could stay too. Any thoughts or suggestions besides "Put theze cOmB0z bak, bro" are much appreciated. Happy building, or somesuch.
Bump. Also HUGE update to the list. It's not just a mindless copy and paste of every other Sharuum combo deck out there. New direction is non-combo aggro control/fun stuff I've wanted to try out. Still need help figuring out what to cut for more permanent control and maybe a few more counters. Any help is Appreciated.
Arcane Denial is plain bad. letting an opponent draw cards can really backfire on you. Faerie Trickery is better. Cryptic Command and Hinder are also good options for the deck, although Cryptic is a bit pricey.
I don't think tunnel vision is very good here. It only really works with Spell Crumple.
Shimmer Myr, Unwinding Clock, Mycosynth Golem and Ethersworn Adjudicator are also really good. Myr, Clock, Golem, Transmuter, and Sphinx Summoner together are ridiculous (I have done this many times.) The Adjudicator is just a really good card, when he doesn't just immediately die.
The Sharuum list in my sig is similarly focused. You can check that for ideas.
I'll start by saying thanks for the imput and concern. It is much appreciated.
On Arcane Denial. This card is actually plain good. In 60 card formats it's terrible but EDH is not a format where your opponent has a gigantic chance to draw into another threat. Usually they will just draw into lands or spells that would've been good at the beginning of the game but are now dead. Yes, there is a chance that they will get something good but it's the price to pay for a cheap, cantripping, splashable counter.
Tunnel Vision was a part of the combo iteration of this list to find Bitter Ordeal and usually you'd mill the last piece of Sharuum combo. Now I'm testing it as a seudo, one-shot Hermit Druid for this deck. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet so no reports.
Finally, your suggestions are quite good. However, I've been wanting to pull out some of the random good stuff I've thrown in for more control-oriented cards. The Adjucator has been a thought that I'm still tinkering with.
Thanks again and I hope my card choices make a bit more sense now.
@iandowdy Giving your opponents cards is almost always a bad idea. It will either give them something else they need or at least get them closer to something they need. I cannot think of a time where I would run Denial. There are so many better options.
@psilocybianth Wurmcoil, Duplicant, Sad Robot, Forgemaster, and, Myr Retriever. I would think the Robot and Myr are very low on the list of things to grab though.
@ psilocybianth Still testing the new iteration and wanted to try the Eye. It is normally going for Wurmcoil, Battlesphere, or Duplicant as togorian said. I need to find a Proteus Staff. It would let turn my Duplicant into other stuff then I could Eye it up again. Got the idea from another non combo deck I was checking out although I forgot which one. Expensive, yes. Funny if you pull it off, absolutely.
Also, if looking at lists is getting tiring, here's a video of the list http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omZ0C3lk0qc&feature=related .
