Vish Kal quickly became one of my favorite generals the first time he saw play in my Karador deck. I immediately pulled him out and put him at the helm of his own deck. It's not exactly a finely-tuned game-ending machine, but I like tokens and I like nigh-unstoppable 40/40 flying fatties, and Vish Kal provides.
You might like this deck if:
1. You like tokens.
2. You like sniping every creature you don't control off the board.
3. You like having >100 life.
You might not like this deck if:
1. You need to win every single time.
2. Your enemies always tutor and save tucks for generals.
3. You like combos.
Strategy: Usually, I stall and throw up walls of minions and lifegain until I can either overrun everyone or end someone with general damage. There's lots of fun tricks and synergies in there, but the only real combo is Sanguine Bond + Blood Tribute + A Vampire (although Beacon of Immortality can work if you have more life than them).
Notable Cards Well of Lost Dreams: No one seems to notice how many extra cards this nets me. With this and a lifelinker or a Pristine Talisman, you will have cards for days.
Rings of Brighthearth: Makes everything better. These things go in everything with a decent number of activated abilities. Especially nice to have around if you're low on creatures to feed to VK; a 2/2 zombie can be used to kill an 8/8 if you have 4 mana.
Blade of the Bloodchief: Crazy ridiculous fun, especially if you're up against another token deck.
Fiend Hunter: Might seem a bit weak, but he's saved my behind a few times. I only put him in there because if you sacrifice him before the exile ability resolves, whatever it is never gets a chance to come back. Handy for Eldrazi.
Cards that didn't make it Bloodlord of Vaasgoth: Seemed like a good idea at first, but I'm a pretty defensive player, and I don't think I ever bothered to cast him.
Some critique would be nice, but I'm Casual 4 Life, so I probably won't listen.
Changes:
-Cradle of Vitality +Mobilization The Cradle has mostly only been useful when laying down beats with big lifelinkers, i.e. when I'm already ahead in the game. So it's out for reusable token generation.
Mobilization definitely needs to go in. I've often lamented the lack of permanent, noncreature token producers outside of green, and my friends often forget to pack answers to enchantments. Knight-Captain of Eos might find its way in eventually as well.
It might be fun to redo this deck to have a soldier theme. I briefly considered a vampire tribal theme, but most don't mesh well with the deck's style. I never thought to look for another tribe. For now, though, I like the sheer variety of tokens I end up with. I can make angels, soldiers, kor soldiers, vampires, zombies, avatars, faerie rogues, cats, pegasi, and the odd germ or horror.
The dark and terrible oppression offered by Vish Kal is an equal opportunity employer.
Heck, what flavor tokens can B/W make the I can't? this is worth looking in to. A lot.
