This guy, Tombstalker, is playable in Legacy by playing a bunch of spells/cantrips and dropping him for 2-3 mana. Is he playable in anything in Modern? Why or why not?

Delver is so much easier to deal with. 1 mana no grave removal and all that goes with it. However they fit well together in the same deck. Biggest issue with Tombstalker is if he gets bounced. Good card but with the printing of Delver he is no longer the best choice.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
The other issue with him is that a lot of black decks are playing Bob, and he's just an aweful flip without Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain, or Top to fix your stack.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
why go through hoops when you can just pay 1G and get a slightly smaller beater that is half as much of a liability? Even the nuts draw has him coming out about turn 4 with protection, although by turn 4 you could have already lost the game while you durdled cantrip cards. believe it or not modern is much faster than legacy. Control decks start with their backs against the wall.

In life all we can do is try to make things better. Sitting lost in old ways and fearing change only makes us outdated and ignorant.
Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.

Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.
There's also the fact that Tombstalker and Snapcaster Mage often compete for the same resources. Exiling instants and sorceries from your graveyard does not make 'Stalker happy.
Playing a Tombstalker may allow you to shrink a Tarmogoyf. There was a Legacy MBC variant in 2010 that hated on Zoo and Reanimator, which were then both very popular:
If one were to play BR colors for Rise//Fall, Lightning Bolt and Terminate, one might be able to port this to Modern. Bonus points if you splash blue and go T2 Evoke Shriekmaw, T3 play Gatekeeper of Malakir, T4 play Rise, return to your hand Shriekmaw from the 'yard and Gatekeeper from the battlefield and start the shenaningans again. It's probably too cute though.
or you could just splash green and play goyf. Also snapcaster isn't best friends with delve.
