First - I own both cards, and have play tested both.
I am running a RB Vampire Control deck, homebrew against the local meta (affinity, jund, death and taxes, rogue). I am running the following in my removal package:
I currently have 2 gatekeeper of malakir as 2 of my 3 drops against turn 2 goyfs, knight of the reliquaries, etc. I have liliana of the veil that I could run in that spot. I have been swaping between the two, and can not decide on this slot.
I run very few creatures (only bloodghast) in the 2 drop slot, so normally liliana comes in with no protection, and I use her -2 ability, so on the turn she comes it is functionally a gatekeeper. Gatekeeper can attack, or block a creature next turn, liliana just dies. So what is better in this deck?
Thanks!

Gatekeeper, hands down. With vamps, you need cards, always! You can't pump Liliana without losing a card. Gatekeeper gives you legs, as well.
This is true. I wonder if a Dual laiden R/B Vamp deck is viable? Kinda like burn
with better bodies.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
But I would rather have a Highborn burning out an opponent. Olivia Voldaren would also make for a nice top of curve.

If you are playing Vampires: Gatekeeper, 'nuff said. (Well, it's a Vampire, Stromkirk Captain loves him...)
If you are playing Jund: Liliana OTV--triple black is hard to hit, and Liliana always finds a way to disrupt the opponent somehow. She's the face of Rock-style planeswalkers--she's rather like Ajani Vengeant for cheap, and she's a great way to stabilize. If she makes opponents sac creatures, she either turns into a Fog or she can make opponents sac multiple creatures.
If you can support the triple black: I dunno; Liliana OTV does something disruptive against control while Gatekeeper is just a bear...
Liliana is less dead against combo though. Although I'm assuming BR vamps doesn't have a great combo matchup anyway, so maybe Gatekeeper is better at getting percentages off other matchups? Tough choice.

Liliana isn't exactly backbreaking against combo, either. At least with gatekeeper you have a grizzly bear with random value, on top of a relevant creature type for nocturnus or a captain.
