So I got flamed 4 months ago when I posted about Choke.
How about now??? Gee there might be like a trillion islands being played. In fact a deck that has won at least 5 PTQ's to my knowledge runs 17 islands. So one would think this is solid sideboard material.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
When people use filter lands, early bird lands, and the m10 duals then what is the point of choke? If you are playing against a pure fae deck or something then I may suggest ratchet bomb as it can be used against affinity as well.

Seriously though, Fae are doing alright for themselves, but no need to go for specific hate just for them.
From the affinity stand point, I'm happy to bring in a couple of Whipflare to open things up/pressure them and a couple of Ancient Grudge since they lean heavily on Vedalken Shackles to beat us.
lsv was running 2 in his board for meleria pod, sided it in against UWR delver, and won games because of it, sure will it stop all the lands from untapping, no but even if 2/3 of their lands are affected its usually enough.
I've seen it in action a few times. It's pretty nasty, but you can play around it. Of course, if you try hard enough you can really play around most hate.

What's most dangerous about Choke is that it's essentially a 2-drop, since it's in the same color as strong 1-mana acceleration. For a turn 2 play to shut down even just 2 lands, that's disruption and card advantage rolled into one convenient package.
Another thing to think about is that you can EoT Boil and untap into Choke...you don't just have to pick one of the two. A split is even more annoying, with the 1-2 punch possibility.
Additionally, if a control deck is going to play a bunch of filters and fastlands, it's going to get wrecked by a resolved Blood Moon. If a deck can find a way to play Boil/Choke alongside Blood Moon, it will be absolutely brutal against control. What are they going to do, rely on artifact mana to cast their spells? Ancient Grudge is on-color. All it would take is a reprint of Enchantress's Presence or a similar type of draw engine for a green/red deck, and Prison is suddenly a very real archetype in this format.
There are a lot of very annoying lock pieces and hate cards, when you really look deep into this format. It's more than just Blood Moon and Rule of Law--there are some very untapped cards like Choke and I think we'll be seeing them show up more as the metagame becomes more and more sophisticated. It will take time, though.
I ran it in the board of melira pod and its very good against delver decks, most blue based combo, and of course as mentioned fae.
Choke doesnt have to be the end all be all. 3 mana for a triple or quadra stone rain (even double) is still insane even if they get to keep some of their mana sources. Wake of Destruction costs 6 and has a lesser effect than choke most of the time, as an example of how powerful this kind of effect should be. Most of the time they are just cold to the card to, decks can function on all colorless mana, but they cannot function on no mana at all.
Dont forget it stops all the blue shock lands as well which is why its so versatile.

I really wish they would reprint a color hate cycle like Chill or Warmth.
