I think a comprehensive list would go along way. It would help returning players, new players and players to know what to trade for or look out for.
I'll be updating this as more cards enter and change in the meta.
In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
cards that imho must go out of the list, beacuse they don't see play
in black out duress and damnation
in white out rule of law
in green out garruk
in mud batterskull
Really? Each of those cards sees play in a variety of decks.

Might be a little nitpicky here, but doesn't Birthing Pod count as a green permanent and not MUD?
If you're including SB cards like Thorn of Amethyst, you also should add other SB cards like Kataki, War's Wage and Ancient Grudge for current Tier 1 decks like Affinity.

All of those are seeing play regularly.
BUG runs Duress and Damnation. Ajani Control and Mono-W control both run Rule of Law. Some RUG lists are running Garruk os some variation, so is Elves. Caw Blade as well as some Esper Control decks are running Batterskull. All of these decks are competitive, and see frequent play. They are not Pro decks, because most Pro's do not even build their own decks.
Man, that green list is embarrassingly short. Lotus cobra, eternal witness, and (possibly) beast within should be on there. Also tribal elves is a deck too, so all those cards could go on there: nettle sentinel, hierarch druid, etc. Also, you should list out specifically all the land cards, because some of the scars lands and manlands, and other utility lands are not actually staples. Lavaclaw reaches, for example.

I don't know about batterskull, but all the others are played pretty often. I can't believe you are saying Damnation does not see play.
Green- Vengevine, and Obstinate Baloth.
In the last couple of weeks I have seen several instances of Jace Beleren and Garruk Wildspeaker played. Regardless they are tried an true cards that any Modern builder ought to have in their toolbox.
Updated again. Loads of cards added, and divided by type now too!
Also as to people saying for things to come off/on, and debating staples, I'm upkeeping this to help make a overall general list of cards that come to mind when deck building. In other words, if it has power level to warrant play and is a logical answer to decks problems, it can pop on this list. Meaning a card that might be niche, but are powerful/general enough to be on the list.
Example of what could be on this list:
Ancient grudge = kills artifacts
Tarmogofy = good creature
cryptic command = good counter
Jund Charm = niche but good.
Examples of what shouldnt be on the list.
Turn to Slag = kills artifacts but is way situational
Quirion Dryad = good creature if used right or built into
Unified Will = good counter when things go right.
Lavalanche = niche and way more narrow.
Oh, my mistake. Speaking of loam, is life from the loam on there?
Also: dryad arbor and horizon canopy if they haven't already been added.
And I definitely agree with jace beleren. He's not really a staple in any decks, but you'd want to keep some around for possible deck ideas.
