Definitely not. If I was more into really technical tech death I could help more, but I'm sure if you just look up bands influenced by necrophagist or what not and look around a bit you'll find a lot more.

Just stopping by to mention some awesome new releases I've really gotten into lately, which are definitely worth checking out. These are The Weight of Oceans by In Mourning (progressive melodic death metal), Phoenix Rising by Before the Dawn (dark/melodic death metal), Tragic Idol by Paradise Lost (gothic/doom metal) and Alpha Noir/Omega White by Moonspell (gothic/death metal).

I just listened to the entire new Burzum album. It shouldn't be out for another month or so but the Chinese interwebs seem to have gotten to have gotten their hands on it and it's streaming for free on a website none of you can sign in to or even understand if you could. Anyways, seems like Varg doesn't like singing anymore as he spends a great amount of time just speaking over the ambient post-black stuff he's come to be known for.
I liked the album anyways, for what it is. And I'm glad I can't understand whatever it is he's articulating as I'm sure that would affect how I felt about it. I'm sure it's all quite eloquent and thinly vieled patriotic hate rhetoric anways. Would I buy this album if I had the opportunity? Probably not, mostly becuase I'm opposed to Varg as a near complete waste of flesh. But he paints some pretty audio landscapes and has an almost honorable (if not naive) vision of what his hertigage means or what life was like in those idialized times before Norway lost its pagan heritage. If you were fan of Belus and have no misgivings in financing a website that promotes hate speach then this album is for you. If you are of the prior but not that later, find it by other means. If you are still waiting for Hvis Lyset Tar Oss Part II, save you money and/or your time. |

The lyrics to Umskiptar are all an old Norse poem from the Poetic Edda called "Voluspaa", so I don't think it's hate filled at all. I find his lyrics usually don't reflect his beliefs so much (*disclaimer* I'm probably wrong). Disappointed about the speaking though, I'd hoped it would be growls. I do like his clean voice too. |

They're based on winter, Lord of the Rings, folklore, and mythology. As nutty as Varg is, he has, on several occasions, vehemently denied that his lyrics should be interpreted as racial hate, homophobia, white supremacy...and that he does not inject those views into crafting his music. Not a single person in their right mind does, and should ever, expect this.

As I suspected, I'm really enjoying Deathrow's Deception Ignored, so glad I found it. Surely my favorite technical thrash album (not counting Voivod as tech thrash - they're certainly not as technical as this), and I do love prog sensibilities in everything.
Been doing a little more digging in black metal recently, happy to have found Mjölnir and Furze in particular. |

Rest in Peace, Steeve Hurdle:
For those that don't know, he played with Gorguts on Obscura, and he's the reason why that album is completely unhinged. http://www.coopfuneraireestrie.com/a...e-hurdle-4689/ It's been a rough year for metal |
