Here's another general-themed deck for me. Can I get by without him? Yes. Is he good? Yup. I originally had a BUNCH of mana-doublers/number-of-Forest-reliant cards but ended up with TOO many. I cut all that and focused on drawing cards.
I wonder, though, if I have too much "everyone can/does draw cards," which helps Big M but hurts me (in theory) and should instead have more "only benefits me" card draw. I cannot really search out enchantments or artifacts, so I don't know if I should rely on them OR some of these cards or engines below.
If i were you I wouldn't be too concerned about giving other people cards. I've been playing a "bear hug" Multani deck for a couple of years now and it has definitely earned the respect of my playgroup. Green is king when it comes to mana production, so you should have the best capacity to play out the extra cards you are drawing. Shroud is such a huge ability for a creature as big as Multani, especially when combined with a haste enabler, Akroma's Memorial being my favorite. Shroud means your opponents' spot removal is useless, haste means that Multani is virtually Wrath proof, and green means you probably have expendable creatures to dodge Edict effects. I've come to find that Evacuation and Cryptic Command are pretty much the only type of cards that slow him down. The deck routinely produces somewhere in excess of 150 mana, draws practically the entire deck, and attacks for enough damage to require the exponent function of a calculator to determine it.
Here's a link to my specific deck. Hope this provides you some pointers.
@Risk: Over a year ago I started working on this deck, and you might know that I had a Vig deck that I modeled after yours....and then I saw you had a Multani deck, too. I did want to make sure it wasn't too much like yours, but, as always, I value all your input. That's the answer I wanted. I think I just need to find the right balance and synergy in the deck.
@bub: For handsize, I was shooting for more permanents to enable consistent drawing (as opposed to one-off spells) because I want to get more out of Genesis Wave and Creeping Renaissance.
None of those creatures have evasion or protection, but I like P.Crawler and will test it out until I have all the cards I actually have listed. "Can I get more from a 5cmc creature?" is the question I'm at with the Crawler.
I like Rain of Thorns from among those cards because it takes out so much, but when I want spot removal in this format...I gotta have instants. Risk makes it sound like I should be able to power out the card at any point in time (because of mana availability), and I should be able to find a way to tutor it.
I'm considering an Edric deck with all the evasive weenie creatures I always wanted to use...Treetop Rangers was one of my favorite cards long ago.
I see. Rain of Thorns is also one of my favorites, but the best card I think has got to be Beast Within, and Relic Crush is good at instant speed too.
A lot of my handsize stuff, especially the draw is U. You could try Empyrial Plate. And the link to my Edric deck is finally in my sig if you wanna check that out, it's probably got some stuff you could use. Keep in mind my deck is GU and has a strong landfall theme.

As someone who has seen this deck in action, yes I can say this deck is beast. It is truly a phenomenal sight to see.
My current thought is: more permanants (no ramp spells), more draw/mana for everyone (Rites/Heartbeat), and more treefolk (they take care of everything!).

Another concern is, since I have not tried this deck out yet, whether I should have cards that allow me to shuffle my graveyard back into my deck.

Current EDH Decks:
G Multani, Maro-Sorcerer
B Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed
GU Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
For handsize you could try,
I also don't know how you don't have these:
And general spot removal for green is limited:
Rootgrapple compared to these cards seems like a worse choice.
