What do people think of Nether Void? According to cube comparison result thread, it look like only 24 cube runs it. I run it in my cube and I don't think I'm cutting it anytime soon, if ever. Is it just a dead horse card?
depends on what you are running in black to support it. If your 360 is hard core into sui black, its one house of a card up there with winter orb or an Armageddon. If you are playing the card because you love it, by all means continue. Most cubes can make use of the card, and it can even make B/W aggro work (which with a nether void in the deck is quite the deck).
As for me, my sweet nothing cards are havengul lich and yawgmoth's bargain. Havengul lich is my favorite creature in all of magic, its in my cube, taking up a slot in U/B b/c I want it to :). As for yawgmoth's bargain, I have a signed/artist altered japanese foil bargain...my favorite card I own... I run it :).

Card is very interesting, Insane with cards like Thrun, and Great Sable Stag.
Its more of a cost thing for most people. I personally do not have room.
Also could you put an example card image in the OP for reference? Its a nice patern we have going in other threads and I love symmetry
I don't like it. I would imagine it slows the game down too much.
That's not the point exactly. It should optimally be played like a black Armageddon. If you can establish a clear board advantage, dropping a Nether Void "seals the deal" as it were. Imagine playing 1-drop 2-drop, 3-drop into Nether Void against a control deck before they can stabilize and bring out their big guns (or wrath as it may be).
Like Juju said, Nether Void is black's Armageddon. I would run it in every cube supporting black aggro, even 360.
And like Armageddon, it doesn't slow down the game at all, instead it usually just finishes games - mostly you just need to show it and shuffle up for the next game.
I only recently added Nether Void. In the one draft it was in, a player ran it in BG midrange/ramp. He'd accelerate into an early nasty creature and then drop the void to protect it. And it was pretty dirty with Garruk Wildspeaker because it really meant that his opponent's spells cost 3 more while his only cost 1 more.
Based on that one performance, I expect very good things but I also expect it to go unused in some drafts. I'm fine with that.
I used to run it as a proxy to support B/x aggro and it was very good. One of the things I liked was that, unlike Armageddon, it would also be effective against my opponent having fast artifact Mana. If my opponent kept a hand with mox, signet, land, Nether Void would arguably be better than Armageddon.

Done.
For me, it's pretty much what a lot of other people say. It's like Armageddon for black. And it's the main reason for many of my players to go black aggro if they manage to get this card. That's enough of a reason for me to keep it at 360.
This is the exact reason I don't play it. It costs a lot to acquire and I don't see myself having that kind of spending money for cube for a long time. Maybe if they print a couple of terrible sets with nothing worth getting in them I will devote the money I would have put towards those sets to getting a Nether Void? I would assume it is the same reason a lot of other people don't play it.

It's a reserve list card, it's unlikely to lose value and once you have one, you have it for ever!
I put very low priority on getting new cards from new sets. Wait for them to rotate. I waited for Jace 2.0 to get banned, and Vengevine to rotate before getting them, and my wallet thanked me. I wish I could say the same for Baneslayer Angel.
It's been a part of black's theme since the very beginning, land destruction is very flavorful in black, and appropriate.
And its presence would actually increase the quality of the LD in red.
I agree with this entirely. I think it's perfectly appropriate for Black. I don't run Black mana denial currently, and I have to sit back and ask myself "why"? I guess in general maybe the question is how much mana denial do you need? Red, Green and Black all have plenty of options.
That said, the reason I don't play Nether Void currently is because of cost. However, it's on my list and I'd certainly like to add it as another Armageddon. Of course, if I can afford that then I can almost afford Ravages of War. These are cards that I would run if I had them, but right now I'm embarking on a quest to obtain the dual lands. An expensive quest indeed.
We played void for a long time, but it is much tougher for black based decks to get board advantage on turn four than white ones. This could be mitigated, if it were easier to abuse the void. As is, uncounterable spells, manlands, and the occasional outlier (like Bloodghast) are about all that do the trick.

Also equipment works well with Nether Void. I don't think it being black is much of a strike against the card, as it is highly splashable. The consensus is that pure black decks are a bit rubbish in cube, but aggro decks featuring black alongside another colour can be very strong. We play B/R and W/B aggro pretty regularly.
Nether Void is a card I have always loved, the art and effect are gruesome.
We used to play it but was real bad. Black is still lacking in the aggro department. I'm going to try it again with the addition of Pox, Smallpox, and readdition of Sinkhole. Rakdos Crackler, Shred Freak, and not to mention Pack Rats are all great additions to the Void strategy. I think in a matter of time, as black gets better aggro tools, it'll see more play in cubes.

I've had this in my cube since forever and it is still a staple at 320. Black has the lowest curve in my cube, and some of the most efficient creatures at the lower costs, so it's very easy to get ahead by turn 4 or 5 and maybe even afford removal for anything an opponent squeezes through it.
Sorry for the necro, but with the increase in quality black one drops in the past couple years, it seems like Nether Void becomes even more of a 360 staple. Thoughts?

I think you're right. Black aggro is in a really good spot to benefit from a slightly worse Armageddon, and I'm always excited to try cards I used to run way back in the day (we played this in my old 540 ~3 years ago).
Also, I don't think you have to apologize for the necro, that's what the threads are here for.
I've had this card in my cube for a long while. As mentioned, it's great in black aggro as a pseudo-Armageddon, but like Armageddon, if there's board parity or if you're behind already, it's a terrible card rotting in hand. It doesn't provide inevitability like Sulfuric Vortex, but it has virtually locked up a game under the right circumstances. I'm not I would consider it for 360, but I don't run a cube that small.
