I had to be convinced to include this guy originally, as I didn't really understand the roles he could play in different decks. As I started to play with him more, I really got to like him. However, I was trying to fit some new colorless cards into my cube today and was looking to see what other people ran, and noticed that only 11 cubes on eidolon's list were still running this guy.
What are people's thoughts on him? I really like him in aggro decks, especially since I don't have many pump effects anymore in the cube (Briarhorn and Stonewood Invocation and the like all got cut) so it's not like he's ruining your chance to play combat tricks. He's a pretty good body that can go in every color's aggro deck, and I really like that flexibility when it comes to deckbuilding time.
I recognize that he's getting outclassed as creature power creep continues to happen, so maybe I'm just holding on a little longer than I should. Is it time to retire this guy, or are people still enjoying running him?
At this point, I think that he's merely an acceptable body that is playable and offers a little bit of wrath protection in exchange for making you do your plays precombat. The body is fairly unexciting for me, and giving up even the prospect of representing tricks is awkward.
Then again, I haven't played a cube with this guy in it, so I'm 100% gut on this one.
It's such a shame too, he was the only card from prophecy in my cube, and now he's done... Even saviors has a card in my cube! Prophecy was a butt set.

I don't think it has been good enough for a long time. Creatures are just too good and efficient now.
If you are looking for a Prophecy card, you can also explore Avatar of Woe as an alternative (again, outclassed by black finishers printed recently, but still non-terrible).

Or you can look into Withdraw or Rhystic Lightning. I like them more than the Avatar and Idol if you must include a Prophecy card.

From my experience, Withdraw is by far the superior card. Bouncing your own guy is sometimes fine, and bouncing two aggro dudes is pretty insane. I like things like Volcanic Hammer much more than the lightning.
He was pretty good as a 3 mana 3/3 (with a relatively small drawback) that could evade sorcery speed removal, but a lot like Loxodon Warhammer, Scars of Mirrodin block just killed this guy's viability in cube, as artifact/colorless sections are just too tight now for the turtle.

this is why I cut him. He seems a good deal worse than Cathodion
