Hello, and welcome to my new primer featuring Wort, the Raidmother. Before, we get to the good stuff I would like to introduce myself and the discuss how I managed to end up with Wort.
A little bit about me
As you can see I go by the name of Cossack. I was originally a Yu-Gi-Oh! player. To be honest, I've tried playing MTG before. I bought an old starter deck and some packs during the Kamigawa cycle and I remembered my favorite card was Ryusei the Falling Star just because of the cool art it had. I stopped playing because I was getting confused with the rules and went back to Yu-Gi-Oh. I started playing MTG again just right before Innistrad began so yeah, my knowledge on cards, especially from the past sets is quite limited. I started playing Legacy because my friends also started there too. Once I got the basics from the format I started to shift to Modern then Standard and finally EDH. I know my knowledge may be limited to please bear with me if I make any (maybe alot) of mistakes.
Deck History
Ever since I started EDH, I have been shifting from general to general for a while. I couldn't really find "the deck" for me. One day, while I was looking through my LGS's binder I saw her, the most beautiful boggart I had laid my eyes on. When I read her ability, I just fell in love with her more. True, she wasn't Riku of Two Reflections but I didn't care, I bought her (less than a dollar too) and there started the most beautiful relationship ever.
The General
Now we can meet the lady. As you can see Wort boasts a hefty casting cost of 6 and she only has 3/3 for her body. When you read her ability you'll understand why I love this girl. When she comes into play, she generates 2 red/green Goblin tokens and she gives every green/red sorcery/instant you cast the ability Conspire
What is Conspire?
Conspire is an old mechanic from the Shadowmoor block. Basically, whenever you cast an instant or sorcery with the ability, you may tap two untapped creatures with the same colors as the spell and you can create a copy of it.
Rulings for Consipre:
1. You can only conspire a spell once and you cannot conspire a copy of the spell. This is not allowed because the copy of the spell has not actually been casted, therefore, it doesn't follow the requirements for it to be able to be conspired (My head just hurt there)
2. The two creatures that are gonna be used for the conspire ability don't need to share the same color with each other, as long as both of them share a color with the spell, they can be tapped. Ex: When you cast Giantbaiting you can tap 1 green token and 1 red token to conspire it.
Why Wort over Riku?
Ever since I started using Wort, she has always been compared to Riku and people always say he is significantly more powerful because he also has access to U. I won't deny that Riku is alot more powerful than Wort, I actually tried using Riku for a while but I found out that he doesn't really fit my playstyle so, I'll be listing as to why she is and she isn't better than Riku.
Why Riku is better
1. Access to U
2. Lower CC
3. Can copy creatures as well as spells
4. ????
Why Wort is better
1. Comes down with 2 green/red tokens.
2. Bigger Body
3. ????
Well, I think I did a crappy job of defending Wort there.
Wort could be for you if :
1. You like to focus on two colors
2. You generally don't like counterspells
3. You like burning the field all at once
4. You like small tokens that can suddenly become big
Typical ramping cards, Ramping is always fun and with Wort, any simple ramping can become very explosive. I actually put Harrow in there because once you pay its cost and conspire it, you get to put 4 lands into play untapped for the price of sacrificing one. A very good deal IMHO.
Just like with any Wort build, Burn cards are a must. Also, we can't overlook the flashback potential of Devil's Play so it deserves a spot in this deck. Red Sun Zenith also exiles any pesky problems and it recycles itself too.
Very fun card, once you have a field full of tokens, even if they're 1/1, a simple Conspired Soulblast can take out one, or even two people at the same time. Also, it helps us when fighting U decks, especially if they cast Evacuation or any board clear for that matter.
AVR has been very kind to this deck. Whenever Avenger of Zendikar hits the field, 0/1 tokens are produced. Usually, without Primeval Titan, these tokens are nothing more than chump blockers or sack materials, but now these tokens can serve a different purpose. When you have a lot of 0/1 tokens and find yourself wanting to burn your opponent, fear no more. Just cast Burn at the Stake, Conspire it and watch as your opponent burns. A very awesome card.
To keep the engine running, we need a mixture of R and G draw cards. Reforge the Soul is another epic gift from Avacyn because we don't have to wait for 4 freaking turns before we can draw cards. This deck's creatures also have the capacity to grow very big so Momentous Fall gives a way to draw and to heal up some life.
Note: I am aware of cards such as Wheel of Fortune However, I haven't been to acquire these cards. I will update the list with the cards once I get them
Token and Recur Spells
[CARD]
Firecat Blitz
Dragon Fooder [/CARD]
A small token generator, with Parallel Lives out and, if conspired, it gives a total of 8 goblin tokens. Also, it gives Siege-Gang Commander more bullets. Flare Cat Blitz is an old card that I found. I find it to be fun but dangerous since the tokens will be gone by the end phase. Use at your own risk.
Just some cards that allow recurring. I'm not sure if there are any better cards out there. I especially like Noxious Revival because paying 2 is nothing in EDH. I originally wanted to add Life from the Loam but it's too restricting.
A very underused card. Overwhelming Stampede has the potential to be a game changer. Say you have a big creature out. Lets say, you have some tokens out with Wort. Once you cast Overwhelming Stampede and conspire it all your tokens receive +9/+9. This happens because the Overwhelming Stampede resolves giving your tokens and Wort +3/+3, because Wort is your strongest creature out. When the second one resolves it gives +6 to all your creatures because of Wort's new stats. Also, it comboes well with Souldblast
Mana Geyser isn't anything new. Almost all decks with red I've seen run this card. Very self explanatory.
Battle Hymn is another beautiful card from AVR. Adding R for every creature on your field for the cost of 1R? Sign me up! Even with just 5 creatures on the field. When you copy this card, the mana produced is just insane. Personally, I'm wondering why this card isn't used a lot in Standard.
I always believed in the saying "Always have a Plan B". When Wort isn't available, Reitirate serves as a valuable copier. The combo with Mana Geyser is also valuable. (Although I seriously think that the combo can't be done.)
Control Cards. When your opponents have too much problematic cards, its up to you to destroy/exile them. I also wanted to add Beast Within but I haven't been able to get any.
Past in Flames
Remember when I said that we should always have a Plan B. Well, here's Plan C and Plan D rolled into one. Past in Flames gives us a chance to reuse cards that we need. Just be careful when you flashback a card since it becomes exiled.
Finisher Cards. Insurrection punishes opponents who cast too many creatures. Tooth and Nail conspired is just game ending. Urabrask + Avenger + Behemoth + Siege-Gang/Primeval Titan are my personal favorite creatures to call on.
The token generators, these cards fuel the deck at the same time create tokens for protection or other lulzy effects. Personally I'm still testing Kessig Cagebreakers and may change him for Wolfbriar Elemental the only issue I have is that I need some open mana for Burn at the Stake or Soulblast, and casting Wolfbriar usually calls for tapping out if I wanna use him to his fullest.
Another gem from AVR. Move over Primeval Titan because this guy is Avenger of Zendikar's new BFF. At 9 mana (just enough for Tooth and Nail) you get 9 9/10 saprolings. Fun!
Both of these cards are here for only 1 reason. Haste. While Anger is graveyard bound, Urabrask is usually only called upon when casted with Tooth and Nail. Although, Urabrask's stalling ability can be a life saver. Although, to be honest, I haven't utilized it a lot.
Kiki-Jiki is somewhat the lieutenant of this deck. While he is only restricted to copying creatures, copying an Avenger of Zendikar, Chancellor of the Forge or Siege-Gang Commander generates a lot of advantage. Also, combos well with Zealous Conscripts.
Red Token generators. Siege-Gang can offer a way to burn the opponent or his creatures. Chancellor is just crazy with some creatures out. Also, creating a copy with Chancellor is just nuts since it literally doubles the number of creatures you have.
I know what you're going to say..."Where's Doubling Season?" well, I can't really afford the card at the moment but I know its an instant put when I get it. Parallel Lives serves as an adequate replacement for the time being. Feed the Pack also helps, especially when other players try to steal your creatures *cough*Primeval Titan*cough* Just sac that creature and get X 2/2 Wolves for more token fun.
The main playstyle of this deck it to ramp up and start burning your opponents, if that doesn't work then you can overwhelm them with tokens that become big. There are more ways to win than just burning X opponents with Comet Storm or attacking with Avenger of Zendikar + Primtime's kids. I'll be discussing them in a while but first lets discuss how you're going to fight without your general.
With general tactics
The main focus here is to just multiply the tokens. While Wort is out, token producing cards create x2 the tokens, with Parallel Lives out that increases to x4!. Remember to always choose the cards you're gonna conspire wisely, especially if you have a limit to your tokens. Don't just go casting Wort and then casting Red Sun Zenith for X and conspire it at somebody without actually killing them or having a political backup, they will surely go after you. Instead, try and wait it out and destroy somebody instantaneously.
Combos to consider
1. Mana Geyser + Reiterate
2. Avenger of Zendikar + Burn at the Stake + Conspire
3. Tooth and Nail for Verdant Force and Dragon Broodmother will give you 1 Saproling token and 1 1/1 Dragon token each upkeep or 1 3/3 Dragon token if you let it devour the saproling.
4. Couple of tokens out + Chancellor of the Forge + Splinter Twin
5. Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin + Zealous Conscripts.
6.
General-less tactics
We all know how tucking can be very annoying, especially if your deck relies alot on your general. Unless you have B for tutoring or have U for mass draw then you're out of luck. While this deck struggles without its general it is in no way in danger of stopping at any time. Besides, we've got some tutors too.
Once you're general gets tucked, you have a number of things you can do, such as:
1. Search her out with Goblin Matron or Tooth and Nail
2. Stall out and pray you draw her
3. Token spam
4. Burn spam
Cards such as Kiki-Jiki Mirror Breaker don't necessarily need to have your general out. Remember, while Wort is your general, you have Kiki-Jiki as your lieutenant. You also have Zealous Conscripts to help you steal some stuff. Wort's main use in this deck is to create a more explosive end to the game, without her, the deck can get explosive too but don't expect the game to end in a big bang. When she gets tucked, play politically and wait it out if you have to.
Conclusion
The deck I created goes against the "traditional" way of playing G/R. I have seen games where the G/R deck just goes ramp then BOOM and he still dies. This deck goes against that philosophy. While in early games you need to ramp, once the mid game starts, start to use your head and think of the best possible ways to fight your opponents. Remember, EDH was created for fun and I created this deck for fun too.
Note: I will still be updating this deck. Updates may take intervals of 1 week mainly because I have alot of stuff to do too.
Changelog

Taking out:
- Journey to Nowhere
This card costs too much just to get 2 lands into play untapped. Harrow does the same thing and costs less.
-Primeval Titan
Primetime always gets Bribery'd and turns into a disadvantage more than an advantage. Besides, I'm getting sick of using him
-Soulblast
Requires your creatures to be big. While it's not really hard to do, it requires much more setting up. Burn at the Stake is far more supperrior
-Wood Elves
Just got a Solemn Simulacrum. Maybe I'll put her back in sometime later but for now, nah.
- Urabrask the Hidden
My favorite praetor just can't cut it. While I do love him, he's nothing more than a beatstick with haste. Players almost always get a way to get him off the field. He may stall out for 1 turn but other than that, Nothing else.
-Devil's Play
I've been finding Devil's play very underwhelming. Even with its flashback ability, it doesn't stand out. With Past in Flames already in the deck, a flashbacked Comet Storm hurts more.
-Caterfoot Behemoth
I'm trying to steer away from these cards. I want my deck to be casual-competitive. Not competitive-competitive. I may put him back in sometime in the future.
-Kazuul, Tyrant of the cliffs
Not really reliable, I'm trying not to give the opponent's the ability to choose on their own since it almost always ends up with me being on the bad end.
-Chandra the Firebrand
The beautiful redhead just doesn't make the cut. While I love her second ability, her uselessness far outweighs her usefullness.
-Overwhelming Stampede
I admit I overestimated this card. While it did have its shining moments in some of my games, I had even more games where I was sitting with some 1/1 tokens and had this in hand. Turning them 2/2 isn't frightening at all.
Adding in:
+Predatory Advantage
A nifty little card that nets me advantage. It forces blue players to use mana that otherwise would be used for counterspells. If they don't cast any creatures, I get another Conspire target.
+ Sol Ring
I used to think that Mana rocks weren't necessary in a deck with ramp, however no one can deny the power of Sol Ring.
+ Hunting Triad
I was stupid to rely on creatures for tokens. Wort's power relies on spells and I'm building up a lot spells that generate tokens. While I don't have Beacon of Creation and the likes yet, sticking to cards like this should help me a but.
+Splinter Twin
I love Kiki-Jiki's ability so much I decided he should have some help. Most of the new creatures left are gonna have some ETB abilities so Splinter Twin really makes the cut.
+Gelatinous Genesis
I'm seriously disappointed in myself for forgetting this card. An epic token producer, I just wish it wasn't XX
+Skullclamp
What would you do with a 0/1 tapped saproling token that was used for Burn at the stake? Clamp it and draw!
+Mogg War Marshall
I know what you're thinking. I know I said I would try and stay away from creatures that created tokens, however, when I tried this little guy out he was a great help. With Parallel Lives out he gives 4 tokens in total, he can be Skullclamped for cards too. He also costs only 1R giving an early game advantage and can be used in tight situations mid-late game.
+Burning Vengance
I'm still not sold on this card. Currently still testing it. If it does however fail, I'll be changing it.

-Chandra Ablaze
Chandra has been fun, don't get me wrong. She's a powerful card that can help setup Anger in the graveyard but with new cards coming in, I'm inclined to take her out for the space. Especially too since she hasn't been able to use her ult for a while.
-Kessig Cagebreakers
Meh, I was already very iffy on this card. Besides, Wort decks are suppose to rely more on spells.
Adding In
+Primeval Titan
My meta suddenly turned into a competitive one when new players joined so I guess adding in Prime Time again isn't an issue too much.
+Hellion Eruption
Fun new card that I got from the Planeswalk deck. Turns 1/1 tokens into 4/4. The downside of this card though is that I can't conspire it because it would literally do nothing else.
What is Conspire?
Conspire is an old mechanic from the Shadowmoor block. Basically, whenever you cast an instant or sorcery with the ability, you may tap two untapped creatures with the same colors as the spell and you can create a copy of it.

Eternal Witness
Recurring important spells/permanents. A staple in any deck with green.

Personally I'm still testing Kessig Cagebreakers and may change him for Wolfbriar Elemental the only issue I have is that I need some open mana for Burn at the Stake or Soulblast, and casting Wolfbriar usually calls for tapping out if I wanna use him to his fullest.
Fierce Empath
I generally don't like tutors for my EDH decks but this deck has too many high CC creatures for me to pass up this little guy.
Caterhoof Behemoth
Another gem from AVR. Move over Primeval Titan because this guy is Avenger of Zendikar's new BFF. At 9 mana (just enough for Tooth and Nail) you get 9 9/10 saprolings. Fun!

Recur important spells
Red Token generators. Siege-Gang can offer a way to burn the opponent or his creatures. Chancellor is just crazy with some creatures out. Also, creating a copy with Chancellor is just nuts since it literally doubles the number of creatures you have.
Utility creatures. Matron offers a way to search for either Kiki-Jiki or Siege Gang. While Hellkite has always been a personal favorite.
