Kublia is a human planeswalker wielding blue, black, and red magic. His specialty is necromancy--to him, nothing is ever truly dead. No matter how big or small in life, every creature's body is more useful to him after its time has expired.
Kublia is one of the few Grixis survivors of the Alaran War, the influx of vis from the corners of the merged world enabling the strongest soul-manipulation magic since the fall of Vithia over a thousand years in the past. The collapse of Sedris' floating castle over the necropolis of Sedraxis has caused the release of thousands of souls. In doing so, he believes he can resurrect the fallen lichlord. Months after the war ended, he gathered Sedris' remains from the city, along with massive amounts of vis the souls of the fallen would provide. He was successfully able to resurrect the Vithian king, but at a price--the two had no subjects to rule over. With necromantic surges essentially nonexistant in Alara, the two are forced to make extraplanar journeys to find souls suitable for the revival of the demonic nightmare that is Grixis.
---
"Since the dawn of time, man has always sought a method to attain eternal life. Immortality through divinity is a farce. Immortality through any sort of irrational belief is likewise a farce. Those who believe in such foolish ideals are more apt to destroy the world than save it. His Royal Highness, Sedris, has risen from the bone and ash of Sedraxis once more, and he bears a message for the people of Alara. 'No matter what you do, you cannot overcome the power of death!'"
