thoughts on deck:
so i think that vela isnt so much a ninjitsu deck but more of a token deck with a ninjitsu subtheme.
i build her on the lines that i have built my teysa deck ie, have tokens that are fodder for the big beatsticks that follow.
what i find vela does better than teysa is that she has control magic, and that is what makes her more lethal. Although white has removal, i find that black and blue have the same amount of removal that it isnt sorely missed.
this deck has etb creatures for ninjutsu targets and ltb abilities. vela's ability is there as a damage accelerator
Tombstone Stairwell might get some good dmg in. I'd like to see what your interactions list is.
thing is that tombstone stairwell will help by oppenents before it helps me, i would rather avoid it. also i dont really like the cumulative upkeep cost.
its basically "tap 2 possibly deal 2 damage and opponents lose 1 life"
If you want a combo kill, throw in a Triskelion. You can use Buried Alive to grab it, Mikaeus, and a Nether Traitor that can help you get your ninjas in.
Once they're in your graveyard, use Volrath's Stronghold, Sheoldred, Living Death, or Victimize to get them back and win on the spot.

Tombstone Stairwell gives tokens to every player during every upkeep. If you have the most dead creatures, It'll benefit you the most.
I don't think the mikeus + couldron combo works. You would give a creature persist and then sac him he would come back with a -1/-1 counter on him but he would no longer have persist. So the best you could do is blink him twice. Unless of course it was a deciever exarch or pestermite so you can keep untapping cauldron.
If you are already running Ashnod's Altar and Nim Deathmantle, you could run Cathodion for infinite colorless mana. Or Priest of Gix for infinite Black mana.
These can get you enough mana to feed the same combo with a blue creature to deck some one with Dire Undercurrents.
I'm thinking of adding Scuttlemutt to my list to add a mana dork with another Commander-relevant ability - he's colorless so he can get through easily with intimidate, but can also get a ninja or Sworded up creature through. I'm also going to try Govern the Guildless as well.
I really want to get my deck to be more of an aggro deck, but there are so many fun combos to put together!

These can get you enough mana to feed the same combo with a blue creature to deck some one with Dire Undercurrents.
Dead-eye Navigator can fuel some similar combos, Priest again, or Palinchron
