I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, so I figured I'd try to stimulate some sort of discussion. I'm considering adding this to my powered 360 list. As I see it:
Pros
-It's very cheap to cast--only a single green mana
-It's splashable
-It's creature removal in a color that traditionally doesn't have access to it
-It's an enchantment, making it more difficult to remove
-The ability isn't targeted, so it can destroy hexproof/shroud creatures
-It can absolutely savage/delay an aggro deck if dropped early, helping a control deck recover if it starts slowly
-It's synergistic with green's larger creatures
-It's synergistic with manlands
-You get to choose which creature is destroyed in the event of a tie
-It's a very unique effect
-It's nostalgic
Cons
-It actively works against mana elves, a large part of green's ramp strategy (though it's fine if you're ramping with Kodama's Reach or Cultivate)
-You cannot choose to target a larger creature that's facing you down
-Does nothing on the turn you cast it
It's one of those cards that you have to work a fair bit with your play and your deckbuilding in order to get a significant advantage. I lump it in a similar camp to things like Arboria, Smokestack etc. Of course, some of those sorts of cards are easier to abuse than others.
Drop of Honey, like Arboria, whilst a powerful effect, just seems not worth building your deck around just to abuse it (particularly if there is only one of them in your deck), which makes it a card that will sit in sideboards unused most of the time.
But, by all means, I encourage you to try it. Maybe it's awesome.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

ExpiredRascals you sir are a god-like hero.

Porphyry Nodes was terrible for us, not sure if the original is better, but to be honest, I don't see the appeal of the card.
We tried the white version too and it was quite bad. Even in control decks, you may want a finisher like Meloku who has a fairly low power. I can't see it being any better in green: even if you are dropping a fatty you are likely to have some low power mana elves or walls. Even if you don't care about losing your own creature, it will still protect your opponent's creatures.

It was insane with Shroud until the Erata. You could sit with a Nimble Mongoose in play and never have to play a removal spell lol.
The fact that it doesn't happen on each upkeep makes it somewhat unplayable. You really need the right situation for it to be good. But its never going to be great.
I was thinking about this card a little while back and really wanted to include it as I loved the art on it, but ultimately couldn't figure out how it would be truly useful. If it didn't die when there were no creatures in play it would be the nuts, on par with The Abyss but sadly it's not and as such it's not very playable.
I guess if you have enough indestructible creatures, but most of them are either going to win alone or aren't very playable.

What about in White? There is Porphyry Nodes whose only additional drawback is that it's near impossible to spell correctly off the top of your head.

i agree that it would be good in most UG builds, but I think that's about all it would be definitely good in, making it pretty narrow.

Not to sure I would like it in most UG-control we end up with here. It kills your walls (Blossoms, Root) , Mana Elves and Looters.
Sure you could make a UG deck without those but why play green then?
