Today I was bored and wanted to make an EDH deck, so I decided on GB and went to work with Glissa, the Traitor. I was inspired by some of the strong synergies with cards like Thornbite Staff and Ulvenwald Tracker, allowing me to turn Glissa into a machine gun. Without further ado, here is the decklist:
No one has anything to say about this deck at all? Is it just a boring idea? Not unoriginal enough? Or are there just not any improvements to be made?
I know the latter is not the case, as I this deck hasn't been tested a whole lot yet. I would really appreciate help on the deck, as I've been wanting to build a new EDH deck for a while, and GB is my favorite color pair.
I would remove Caged Sun, in theory this can make an insane amount of mana but at cmc 6 I never was really happy with the inpact it made for me.
What do you think about Soul of the Harvest to me it looks like an underwelming card.
I really like Caged Sun because I can usually drop it on turn 5, and then drop huge fatties or x-spells next turn. I'm not sure about Soul of the Harvest. I haven't used him much, but he seems like decent draw. He's not amazing, but I'm trying him out right now.
I kind of want to add more Deathtouch and/or Trample enablers. The interaction between these two abilities is really great, and I also have some ping and fight cards to abuse Deathtouch in particular.
Grave Titan is definitely awesome. I'm not sure about Basilisk Collar. It's definitely cool, but I'm not sure it has enough of an impact to warrant a spot.
I need to figure out what cards to take out so that I can add Grave Pact, Executioner's Capsule, Tormod's Crypt, and Profane Command.
Triangle of War. Someone suggested it to me in my Kresh deck (given that I was already running Glissa). It's performed above and beyond what I expected, especially with a significant number of deathtouch guys.
Given that you already have Mikaeus in the deck, you could definitely add Triskelion and Workhorse as well. Workhorse gets infinite mana on the spot with him, as well as being pretty cool to bring back with Glissa, and Trike is...well, just amazing, and even more powerful because Glissa can bring him back too. I should really post my own Glissa list some day.

Wow, I've never seen that card before. It's definitely something that would be worth including. Kind of a "hidden gem."

I thought about Trike, but I figured it would only be good with Mikaeus. I didn't even think about the fact that it's an artifact creature and it acts as removal. Seems like it should go in. As for Workhorse, I believe it requires a sac outlet to make infinite mana because it gets +1/+1 from Mikaeus's other ability, meaning that it won't die even though it has zero counters on it. Still probably worth including. Mikaeus can also go infinite with Woodfall Primus and a sac outlet. It looks like I need to find a few more free sac outlets. Any suggestions?
I dont think Triangle of War works with deathtouchts. The card says that they deal damage to each other in the amount of power they have.
The updated wording of the card uses the "Fight" keyword. So yes, deathtouch is very relevant here. And as a matter of fact, I think I should probably find room for this card as well. Perhaps.
I like Blasting Station and Mortarpod personally. How convenient that they are both artifacts in and of themselves too.
Nice. Mortarpod won't go infinite because I have to pay the equip cost, but it's still good. Blasting Station is perfect. What do you think of Spawning Pit? If I make infinite mana with it off of Workhorse, I could then make infinite creatures as well.
Maelstrom Pulse is probably better than Beast Within, IMO. Not an instant, but being able to mow down endless tokens is a pretty relevant effect in my playgroup. Plus I hate giving people a 3/3 creature to hit me with.
Here's a couple of cool nonbasic lands that I have in my Glissa deck that you're missing from yours (possibly due to budgeting reasons or not having them or whatever, not all of these are super expensive). These should help you with mana fixing & getting more value from your manabase:
Also, if you're looking for some backup deathtouchers to wield the Viridian Longbow, the Garruk Relentless deathwolves are good candidates, and I'm a pretty big fan of Vampire Nighthawk as a low-cost utility creature. Good luck!

I suppose Spawning Pit is relevant, though I've never been much a fan of it. Altar of Dementia seems pretty incredible here though.
While a once-a-turn effect, Grim Backwoods is pretty amazing too.

Yeah, Altar is nice because it can serve as a wincon with Workhorse or Woodfall Primus. I'm not a big fan of Grim Backwoods because it requires a ton of mana and isn't very reliable since it only works once per turn.
I run Arena in Kresh, but I'm specifically going for a fight theme. Not being able to choose their creature really hurts it. On top of that, remember it doesn't tap for mana either. I think you're probably better off without it.
I had the oppurtunity to trade for a Grave Titan, but I didn't want to part with my Knight of the Reliquary. I think I'll just wait for him to drop when he leaves standard.
I got to play the deck in a multiplayer game against Ghost Council, Sedris, and Thraximundar. Unfortunately, the Sedris player was highly focused on taking me out quickly, and convinced the others to help, despite my fairly non-threatening board position. I died when I was one turn away from casting an Exsanguinate for x=10 to get back into the game. As a result I didn't get to see much of how the deck behaved. I'm not exactly why I was such a target, since none of them had played against this deck before. I guess that shows me that I need to make the deck better so that I can handle situations like this.
scythe of the wretched and mindslaver would be great in this deck, fighting with your general and the scythe turns into creature theft, and it still triggers glissa as the target goes to the grave yard

Mindslaver is already there. Scythe of the Wretched looks pretty good though. Definitely something I want to try out.
I have the opportunity to get $10.00 worth of free cards based on magiccards.info prices, and I want to put it towards this deck. What suggestions do you guys have?
As you guys can probably see, I've veered away from the combo plan, instead choosing to focus more on the artifact recursion to abuse Birthing Pod, Swords, etc. I'm still keeping the combo pieces in my back pocket in case people in my playgroup get too competetive and need to be taught a lesson.
Sylvok Replica works great with Glissa. The ability to blow up artifacts and enchantments while preventing combat damage from a creature is really good! It was always an auto-include for me.

Also if you don't seem to be drawing enough cards, get some more Spellbombs. You can pitch them to draw, then bring them back with Glissa to do it again. Other cards like that are Chromatic Star, Scrabbling Claws, and Mishra's Bauble.
If someone gets INCREDIBLY annoying, try Jolrael, Empress of Beasts. Pitch two artifacts to turn their land into creatures, then wipe the field with mass removal and bring pretty much all your artifacts back to your hand. It's pretty brutal, but I like it.
As for ETB creatures, it seems like you've already got a good selection, but Priest of Gix is decent, especially if you get him from Birthing Pod.
Sorry if I'm spamming you with my ideas. I have too many of them for my non-existent income so I end up foisting them onto other people
