This card has probably staple status. It ranked only behind Fact or Fiction and Counterspell in the absolute number of cubes running it. The card is very solid and useful in many situations. It fits probably into EVERY deck playing blue. BUT paying 2U at sorcery speed to draw 2 cards is far from cube standarts and paying 4U to get a 3 for 1 at sorcery speed (concentrate doesn't see play), where one of it is a 2/2 flyer is also below cube standarts.
Are the interactions with bounce/blink/vat/reanimation/... what makes this creature to a cube staple?
@mods: I'm not able to copy image location with an ipad.
I assume it's the versatility that makes it so good. Being a 2 for 1 at 2U AND a 3 for 1 at 4U and having crazy interactions with blink/bounce/whatever all rolled into one makes him quite good.

I actually think Mulldrifter without evoke would still be very cubeable. I evoke it from time to time, but hard-casting it is what I want to be doing and it's more than worth the mana when that happens. You make it sound like a 2/2 flyer is a bad thing
The versatility and the body are both nice. It can be combined with a lot of cards to get tremendous value, and it's a great source of splashable card advantage.
He's one of my favourite cards in the cube. It's all about the versatility. Divination is a bad card, but it works better for Mulldrifter because it's easy to get value from creatures in the 'yard. He's played 5 out of 6 times as a 5 mana guy, though, and that's fine along with two cards even if you don't get to blink him, bounce him, or whatever. Played as the last card in you hand, you have three new cards when you next untap.
...where one of it is a 2/2 flyer is also below cube standarts....
How is a 2/2 flyer below cube standards?!?
It's worth more than a card! Would you play with a 2/2 flyer for U???
If so, it's worth a card and a mana (it's actually more IMO). Then add the two cards, and consider it's flexibility to evoke if needed or abusable. Plus synergies with blink, bounce, and Recursion and you have an excellent card.

It's actually a 2/2 flying for 2, notU. The time point in the game where you play this, the 2/2 body is not so threatening anymore. For U more you get consecrated sphinx which can draw you more cards and has a relevant body size for that stage of the game.
Ya, but the Sphinx doesn't have guaranteed draw and can't be abused by your own bounce and blink. If my opponent is holding a Doom Blade, I know which one I'd rather have, despite having a smaller body.

why are we comparing a card that can be played on turn 3 and 5 to a card that can only be played turn 6? you can play drifter and sphinx in the same deck, in the same game. they're different kinds of cards. "this 6 drop is better than this 5, 4, 3, etc drop" is not a very useful game to play. 17 lands and 23 finishers is not going to make a good deck.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Muldrifter is one of my favorite blue cards, the evoke cost is really what makes is superb in my opinion. Sometimes you just need a divination and drifter is there to provide value. Love him in my blink decks as well. 2 power is a nice bonus for reveillark strategies as well.

Want to Cube but don't have one? Check the map if anyone is in your area and get cubing!
I like Mulldrifter a lot. Its obviously very good in decks with the ability to abuse it, but even in a simple control deck its very good.
Its a lot like Solemn in control mirrors. A lot of times a hard cast mulldrifter actually needs to be countered because its body is relevant and the ability is pretty strong, but its also very easy to just run it out because you're not afraid of getting your threat doom bladed.
While I wouldn't play Divination in cube, it is great to have the option to play a more expensive card as a Divination when you have mana troubles. If you have all your mana out on turn three and don't want to risk missing your fourth land drop, you can just evoke Mulldrifter. Also, if you are desperately looking for answers later, you can evoke it to have more mana open to play those answers in the case you might draw one.
As far as divination not being good enough or it being just a 2/2 flyer, look at Burst Lightning. Shock won't make many lists neither would a 4R instant that delt 4 damage, but when you add in the versitility that both effects give it pushes burst lightning over the top, I see Mulldrifter as exactly like that and with most cubes having such a high power level games are becomming more about card advantage in a ton of formats and this guy is super advantage. On top of evasion and card draw this guy can pick up a sword and the fact that he has such synergy with blink, reanimation and bounce can not be overlooked.
