There was a discussion in the "Pimp thread" about the authenticity of an artist signature on a Magic card.
As a signed card collector people keep on asking me about their cards and their sigs. And while I am always very happy I think this info needs to be shared...And this is the thread.
People can post scans of their cards to show the sig or ask the community about an example of artist X's signature.
This is NOT another pimp-thread where people can show off their signed foil Japanese Jace2 or Russian Polluted Delta (yeah, I know they don't exist...you know what I mean)...It's about the sig and only the sig.
Also: This thread's intend is not for me to feel like the greatest guy in the universe. It's a friendly service I like to provide because I dig signed cards and want to spread the joy...and I happily invite the other signature-fanatics to answer the questions that pop up because I am not 24 hours online and I certainly don't have everything signed...
That's already it. Post you cards and we can start :).
@mods: Didn't know where to put it so I started it in "General". Feel free to close/move it to wherever you want...

Jesus Matt...How did you get those? Those are all not the artists.
Oh believe me, I know they aren't the artists lol. I have a box of signed cards from random, non-artist, non-garfield/maro/etc. I pick these up at events whenever I see them (usually for next to nothing once I tell them the artist isn't the signer) out of sheer curiosity.
I believe they're signed by pro players but why anyone would want a pro player to sign their card instead of the artist is beyond me, no offense.
I feel the same, no appeal to me at all. I don't even really care about Garfield's sig. I think it's a spur of the moment thing; I mean you're at the PT and some high up player does really well and it's all exciting so you somehow wind up in front of them with a pen asking for an autograph. The thing is, 9 out of 10 pro players kind of stop after they graduate college and get a real job, which makes all non-kibler type sigs virtually worthless imo. Not like financially, I'm sure somebody would enjoy them, I just mean irrelevant. Unless it's something like from the guy that piloted a new archetype.

For me it has the same appeal as the signature of any other Magic personality and I place the same value on them. A fair percentage of my signed collection is not from the artist. I'll compare those against what I've got when I get home.
Of the grouping I posted over on the pimp thread earlier this year, 4 out of 9 signatures were not the artist.

I have a signed card and I was wondering if anyone had a Jeremy Jarvis signature so I can see if mine is fake or not. I'll try to scan the card later and attach it.

I was digging through my signed cards to help the other posters when I found a mystery of my own. I have a Dark Heart of the Wood with a signature I can't identify. It's not Christopher Rush.
Card in the middle. Other signatures are the artist.
***Edit***
I found another one, a Thran Tome that doesn't match anything I have for Donato Giancola.

I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.

My foil Yawgmoth's Bargain is signed by Zvi Mowshowitz. I didn't get it signed personally, but I assume it's just as valid as an artist's sig, considering he was the guy who popularised the card.
I have 4 Concentrate signed by both Glen Angus & Arnie Swekel (I believe both have passed on) and ton of other Glen Angus signatures and that day in Cleveland, OH during Odyssey Block PTQ he signed everything in Japanese. I have a few Crusades signed by Mark Poole and Disenchant & Steadfast Guard signed by Adam Rex & ton of Edward P Beard Jr sigs. If I get time I'll post them especially the Concentrate its neat having both sigs on the card.

Actually, Dan Bock hasn't been a pro player for some time. He's a dealer in the Wisconsin/Minnesota PTQ circuit and an eBay seller. You'll commonly see trash sig'd by him for apparently no good reason.

This is my beaten up Italian Mana Drain with Mark Tedin's signature, and out of curiosity I'd like to know if it's fake or not
That looks exactly like his signature. Seems legit.

Always good to know that it is at least a real signature !
Picked this up on eBay a while back, compared it to Mark Tedin signatures, but doesn't look more like it... any idea who it could be?
Thanks!
Looks like Richard Garfield. See post #6, Shahrazad.
It is Richard Garfield's signature

It's an abbreviated version of his signature, but definitely real.
