The normally bustling streets of the Seam were empty as Katniss and Gale made their trek to the Hob, District 12's black market. They haggled away their haul from the morning, careful to save enough food to split between their families for the next few days. Katniss had already promised to help support Gale's family should he be reaped, and his reciprocal vow eased her mind greatly. They separated, Katniss returning home to wash up and change. When both she and her sister Primrose had been deemed presentable by their mother, they were sent out with the rest of the teenagers to congregate at the Justice Building. After getting their blood tested to verify their identities, Katniss was forced to leave her sister and stand with the other 16 year-olds. When the doors to the Justice Building opened a few minutes later, the familiar and gaudy figure of Effie Trinket pranced onto the impromptu stage set up especially for the annual event.
"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor."
Katniss had attended several Reapings since she was 12, so she was already familiar with the long-winded speech about the "War. Terrible War." that tore Panem apart, resulting in the obliteration of District 13 and the victorious Capitol demanding two teenage Tributes from each remaining District each year to compete in the Hunger Games. The winner of the Games would return home a hero, but the losers would make their way back in body bags. With 20 slips, Katniss knew that she was at a greater risk now than ever due to the extra tesserae she had taken to feed her family, but she refused to allow Prim to take tesserae. It was bad enough that Prim had to attend Reapings at all. Katniss thought of Gale's 42 slips, and worried for his sake as well. As Effie's hand reached into the Reaping Ball, Katniss hoped with all her heart that her name would not be called.
"Primrose Everdeen!"
One slip. How could her name be chosen when she only had one slip? In a state of shock, it took Katniss several seconds to muster her body forward and volunteer as Tribute in her sister's place. Prim began to cry uncontrollably as Katniss was grabbed by Peacekeepers and escorted to the stage. Katniss began to slow her breathing, focusing herself mentally and physically so as not to appear weak in front of her future competitors, who were sure to watch the video replays. Just when Katniss thought that things couldn't get any worse for her, Effie pulled a name from the boys' Ball.
"Peeta Mellark!"
Peeta Mellark. The boy with the bread.

0. Ignorance is not an excuse. Know these rules and do not break them.
1. Bold your votes and unvotes please, this makes it easier for your moderator. They should look like this: Vote loran16.
2. If you are unvoting, please write Unvote loran16 rather than just Unvote as this makes the vote counts easier and more accurate.
3. Any votes or unvotes not in bold will not be counted.
4. Do not communicate at night or day unless your role PM says otherwise.
5. Do not quote PMs or you will be modkilled. You may discuss the flavor and paraphrase it in your own words, but do not quote any PMs.
6. Unvote before casting a new vote. Failure to unvote may result in the vote not being counted.
7. You may Vote: No Lynch, and a majority of these votes will end the day without a death.
8. Please do not edit or delete your posts no matter how stupid a mistake you made. This will get you modkilled. This is your only warning.
9. Once you’re dead, you’re dead, so stop posting please. A single ‘bah’ post is permissible.
10. Even after you are dead, please refrain from discussing the game or your role with anyone, even other players who have also been eliminated. If you have any questions about this rule, please ask.
11. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 72-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Otherwise, you may be prodded or replaced.
12. If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. The game will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice in time, tough! No choice will be made.
13. Lynches will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will go unheeded.
14. If you are requesting a mod prod or vote count, please bold your request so that your moderator can see it more clearly.
15. In order to keep this game moving, everyone is expected to post at least once every two to three days and if you don't, you may be replaced or modkilled WITHOUT WARNING, whatever your side.
16. In the event of a Day ending with a deadline instead of a lynch, No Lynch will occur.
17. Players and spectators cannot thank posts.
18. HAVE FUN. This is not optional.
19. Lastly and most importantly: Respect us and the rest of the players; your moderator hopes to not have to modkill anyone.

"Greetings, viewers of Panem, and welcome back to live coverage of the 74th Hunger Games! I am your host, Caesar Flickerman. I hope you are all as excited as I am about our field of Tributes this year. The Games are about to start, so let's jump right into the action!"
It had been a wild ride. The past weeks felt like a blur of color and sound. Everything from the train ride to the parade to the interview were so vividly etched into Katniss's memory. Even if she were to die here and now, she still feel grateful for those who had supported her. Effie, Haymitch, and Cinna. Her prep team. Her mother and sister. Gale. Peeta. Katniss was still unsure how she felt about the boy with the bread, but she certainly didn't expect him to confess his love for her on national television. She tried to push aside those thoughts, as they would only confuse her during the Games. For all she knew, she would have to kill him, or be killed by him.
"Let the Games begin!"
With a start, Katniss jolted back to reality. Until that moment, the mines buried in the ground around the Tributes had been active, but with the start of the Games, the Tributes were free to move around the Arena. Following Haymitch's advice, Katniss grabbed a nearby backpack with the intention of fleeing the inevitable bloodbath at the Cornucopia. However, the boy from District 9 had the same idea, and each struggled to wrest the precious bag from the other's hands. Suddenly, the boy's eyes rolled back in his head as he collapsed to the ground, a knife protruding from his back. Katniss instinctively raised the pack to her head, and the second knife sunk into it with a solid thwack. Catching a glimpse of the hate-filled eyes of Clove, the girl from District 2, Katniss didn't wait around to see who would triumph and claim the treasure trove of food, supplies, and weapons nestled within the Cornucopia, instead turning and running toward the woods.
"Viewers, that was certainly an exciting first day! How about that Cornucopia Bloodbath? Clove is proving herself as one of the Tributes to watch! District 2 always puts on a good show. But there is something about Katniss, the Girl on Fire, that is fiercely compelling. The way she handled being surrounded in that tree, only to defeat Glimmer and make her escape sends chills down my spine. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the most riveting Games in recent memory!"
Ecophagy has been killed. He was Boy D9 (Town Vanilla).
Quote from Sample Town Role PM »
Boy D9 (Town Vanilla) http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/District_9_male_%2874th_HG%29
With odds of winning at 22-1, no one expected anything of you. They weren't disappointed. Your bloody corpse will serve as a warning to those who would defy the Career Tributes, and your death a legacy to the indomitable might of the Capitol.
You have no special abilities.
It is now Day One.
With 12 alive, it takes 7 votes to lynch.
Day One will end no later than 11:59PM, Wednesday, September 5th.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

This is a bit suspicious to have such significant qualms about voting for someone when this is clearly still the random voting stage.
I would like to inspect further:
Unvote Tordeck, Vote Cythare
And thus ends the random voting stage.
This is worth investigating though. I'm gonna hold my vote until he explains himself though, as this pressure seems to be enough to get the answer we want.

@Cythare I think it's hilarious that people are ganging up on him because of the first the post he made in a mafia game, ever. Honestly I don't give much credence to the case against him, he's new, of course he has qualms.
This is my first game as well (in at least two to three years).
With that said, I'm not nearly at the point where I'm stating that anyone is scum or not. I am saying that I'd like to have more information rather than less to make my final voting decision for today. This is hardly a "case" against anyone. Just a bit of information gathering.

Yeah, that makes sense. A little pressure for the purposes of information gathering is a useful tool. However, there are derpy doos who think Cythare is actually scum (I won't specifically name any of them but one of them is Megiddo), who are the people I mostly aimed my comment at.

Second, yes, I am attacking you, but not for "calling me out" on asking a question. I'm attacking you for defending cythare when he could and should have spoken for himself.
You're tying yourself to Cythare. Now you're reframing the events of the game to make me look bad. Why?

What you want here is a hash tag (#) not an at (@). @ implies you are speaking to someone, # is about.
First, you're using loaded language. "slammed" implies a very strong attack. Here's my post, for examination:

He is tying himself to Cythare, to some extent. Which inclines me to believe that they are not both mafia, though I don't know how good at this game atog is, having never played with him. If he's good, though, he would let the other maf establish himself first. Instead he's playing to look out for scum among those who are attacking Cythare.

I can't tell if this is a slip, or just poorly thought out.
To me, it reads as if Cythare is admitting they are both scum and he thinks he's being set up for a bus.
At the very least, it seems a very odd choice of phrasing for a Townie.
I just came out the gate too overly untrusting, and very skeptical that I would get very far in my first game, especially with the hole I've been digging myself

-bows- I do what I can, good sir.
Went to a new shop from a friend's recommendation, DQ'ed for willful violation of CR 100.6b.
Have played duals? I have PucaPoints for them!

Nice misrep. To clarify, Meg slammed Cythare for making a newbie post and is now attacking me for calling him out on it.
At the very least, it's mudslinging.
I said you were a derpy doo, not scum. Of course, this opinion can change.
And a little mud might be appropriate if it's being slung at the chief mudslinger himself.
If we didn't manage to get any weapons from the Cornucopia, mud is a perfectly acceptable weapon.

That's too obtuse to be fishing for power roles, but an odd and unnecessary thing to say regardless.
I almost let you trick me here.
First, you're using loaded language. "slammed" implies a very strong attack. Here's my post, for examination:
I asked him a question. I'd hardly call that "slamming."
Second, yes, I am attacking you, but not for "calling me out" on asking a question. I'm attacking you for defending cythare when he could and should have spoken for himself.
You're tying yourself to Cythare. Now you're reframing the events of the game to make me look bad. Why?
He's tying himself to me until he can stab me in the back

Gogo Pokenerds.
And I didn't have to make a single post!
What you want here is a hash tag (#) not an at (@). @ implies you are speaking to someone, # is about.

If that's the case, they might very well be a scum team.

Tog is the more important one to examine, though.

There is logic missing in there somewhere.
My head hurts.
