Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I think it will forever be in Qasali Pridemage's shadow.
Splashing colors is so easy, and you get plenty of other goodies from green like Tarmogoyf. Couple in costing one more than QP would, and it just doesn't stand a chance.
Even if you wanted to stay mono white, the reach of Restoration Angel seems pervasive enough that you would try to get something that works with it like War Priest of Thule.

I support WotC's goal of shaping Modern in favor of diversity.
I ran a thought experiment on my blog Modern in a Nuclear Wasteland
of an extreme case of banning 20 more cards to make sure they get everything, then scaling back where appropriate. WotC seems to be on a slowly build up approach. Both ways probably reach similar end points.
The post Gatecrash metagame is proving to be closer to the endpoint than I estimated, so its very possible that few (if any) more cards need to be banned.
It doesn't fit into any archetype and costs way too much for a SB card. Chances are, if you need to kill an A/E, you don't need a 2/3 body along with it.
I don't think it's Modern playable. As others have mentioned too many better options exist such as Qasali Pridemage and Harmonic Sliver (if you're podding). If you're playing a white deck that doesn't make green mana Disenchant is typically a better option due to being more cost-efficient. 4 mana is a lot for this type of effect and the 2/3 isn't worth the extra cost.
Alternative discussion is great. Modern has such a big pool that its hard to think about all the cards that do what you want. I've seen Harmonic Sliver in Pod lists. Do any other decks like Bant play it, or are they more in for Pridemage due to Exalted?

They were used in standard back in the day. took out some trouble enchantments mostly, but it hit sledge and collar too.
That being said, it was used as a disenchant on a stick, used to block, and eventually got replaced by natures claim when people figured out how good that card was.
Pridemage does its job better. And if your not in green, disenchant is better
Hmm. So basically it's a worse version of Harmonic Sliver? Good in Kor Tribal I guess? Not much to say on this one.
About sums it up. Aggro decks that need hate against those things have better more efficient choices, and white still seems to go with disenchant if they need this sort of thing.
Edit: could be good as a 1 of in decks using ranger of eos, though.
Edit again: nvm, ranger wouldn't be able to fetch him.
The card seems lackluster to me. In the decks that play white, you'd rather have Oblivion Ring at 3 mana, since it's hitting other things as well and hard to interact with. If you specifically want artifact hate, then there are much better cards in white, like Disenchant, which is just instant speed removal that hits enchantments too.
Sure, it's a body at 3 mana, but it's not a very good body. Considering the ability, it's probably fine, but I doubt when destroying an artifact is your top priority, that the 2/3 body is relevant.
If you're playing a different colour, you have better access. Aside from Martyr Proc, many white decks aren't mono white, so you're gonna get Sliver or Pridemage in green, and Hurkyll's Recall in blue (if that's what you want).
Maybe if you are focused on Clerics, or Kor, or something where he makes more sense than just a disenchant with a body. If you are looking for artifact/enchantment hate specifically, there are better options.

Big Johnny.
meh. Even for mono white decks the cost is pretty high for what it does. He's not too terrible of a card, though.
