This card is good, but it's narrow. It's an amazing card against draw-go decks that rely on playing stuff on your end step and countering anything you do of relevance, and I guess it makes aggro-control decks like Delver play their removal on their turn, meaning they have to choose between putting more pressure on the board and removing your stuff... It really seems like a very narrow card, but it's playable in the sideboard.

Final rating: 1.5-2.0/5 - Playable, but pretty narrow ad doesn't do much against most decks.
I didnt even know of that card... Hates blue...splashable in naya colors... Art by one of the best magic artists of all time. I'm a fan man.
as for defence grid... Seems really good against control/ tempo. However with Resto control being the best control deck, and most tempo relying on snappy, Id rather have torpor orb or pithing needle. Or Grand abloshiher to stop it dead.
Shoulllldddd some real control cards come back into the mix, I could see it gaining steam.
I have a semi-casual Doubling Season + Planeswalkers deck that I play on cockatrice, and I run 3 of these in my sideboard, because tempo is such a terrible matchup for the deck, and I can't pay the WW for Abolisher. I like it but it is a bit slow costing 3, and it can always get leaked d:
EDIT: HOLY HELL, it only costs 2! I've been overpaying for this card for like 2 months!

The problem with Grid is that there aren't many decks in Modern that actually run very many counterspells. The few decks that do run some counterspells are primarily RWU and RUG, and both of those are Tempo decks. Unless I have something very important that I don't want countered, I would really prefer not to be spending two mana for a Defense Grid when I am being pressured by a Geist of Saint Traft, a Delver, or a Tarmogoyf.
I think if modern gets some more counterspells or more spells you would like to play end of turn, then this card becomes better as is, i do not feel it is quite the best right now. However, i could still see it being used in sb for certain decks, like already noted, storm.
This card is primarily a SB card for Combo, in order to beat counterspells. It functions like Gigadrowse in that regard, making your opponent have insufficient mana to cast counters.
Whether you want Gigadrowse or Defense Grid depends on what your deck runs. Storm plays Gigadrowse more often because it has a lot of blue sources, and Gigadrowse is an instant, so it synergizes with Pyromancer Ascension and Past in Flames. Eggs plays Defense Grid because it has a lot of colorless sources, and it can Reshape for it, and feed extras to Krark-Clan Ironworks.
Defense Grid is also amazing against Gifts Ungiven. They practically have to play it on their turn, giving you a full turn to find an answer (exile their grave, kill them first). Plus it shuts off those annoying counterspells that Gifts decks so often play.

Went to a new shop from a friend's recommendation, DQ'ed for willful violation of CR 100.6b.
Have played duals? I have PucaPoints for them!

Some notes for combo players: Defense Grid can stop Mindbreak Trap, something that Gigadrowse can't. Gigadrowse can stop Tormod's Crypt, Defense Grid can't.
