Sorry if this has been discussed before, I couldn't find anything immediately when searching for it. Fairly simple question: how far do you travel to your LGS?
Also, side question: what sub-forum should I post in if I'm looking for a store in my area?
I am in the 0-10 minutes, but there is an LGS 30min I sometimes go to and trade with people. I'm in a fbook group with around 200+ people in it for magic in the area and sometimes locals don't have what i need and I need to go somewhere else.

Meh, I don't have a car, but usually I'm already in town where the LGS are. It could take me about an hour to go there with public transportation, but when my friend gives me a ride, about 15 mins.
I have a gaming shop closer but I avoid Old World Games in Vacaville, CA at all costs and go to A1 Comics in Sacramento, CA about 30 plus minutes away where it is soooo much better.
Currently driving about 25-30 minutes (due to speeding) but I travel anywhere from 1 hour and 30 minutes out of my way to go to other stores. Also, my favorite LGS is moving to about 45 minutes+ away from me in October, and then I'm moving about 30 minutes closer in November.
This poll should really be based on distances (metric and miles), and if +30 minutes is about 20 miles, you should expand it to 50+ as your finial vote. I know some people that travel that far to play FNM.

I thought about making the poll in distance rather than time, but 15 miles means very different things to different people depending on the road network in their area. I have a couple different stores I could go to, but I'd rather go to a further one because it takes less time (more convenient off the freeway).
I have a store right around the corner (~5 minutes), but I don't go there. The prices aren't good, the owner doesn't make me feel welcome, and its not a very friendly atmosphere. I drive about 20 minutes to get to another store, everyone is really friendly and made me feel welcome the first time I went and didn't know anyone. Honestly I wish I had more friday nights off work to head down there, but I enjoy myself every time I go, which is more than I can say about the closer store.

what area of southern california are you in? and what are you looking to play
My country is considered a city state, whereby it just takes around 1 hour to drive from one end to the other end of the country.
I happened to stay near my LGS, about 10 mins drive away, while the furthest game store from my place is 40 mins drive away, we have two other bigger game stores that are about 25 mins away. All in all we have around 3 major stores and 4-5 smaller ones.
There are 4 stores within 25-35 minutes on public transport, though traffic through downtown SF can sometimes add on to that. There's another store I could walk to in 30 minutes, but haven't had the opportunity just yet.

Great question, I should have specified: I'm primarily just looking for a place to play on a regular basis.. most likely going to be FNMs. It'd be great to find a group of people that play EDH at a store, though.
I live in Long Beach. According to the Store & Event Locator on the main MTG site, I have to go North to Bellflower, East to Anaheim / Garden Grove, South to Huntington Beach, or West to Torrance. None of these are particularly appealing, as they mean either taking the 405 or surface streets.
I guess what I'll do is try out different stores and see what they're like and when they have different events throughout the week.
The closest store to me is right around the 30 minute mark. I wasn't sure whether to mark 21-30 or 30+ because they both say 30. I chose 30+, because getting there in less time generally requires going a little fast. I'm driving highway speeds most of the way there, but I do have to navigate a good chunk of smaller roads and rural roads as well.
Next time I move, which I hope is soon, I'm planning to pick a location partially based on proximity to an LGS. Magic's just that important.
The closest game store (Gamescape North in San Rafael) is a 10 minute drive from where I live. The next closest game stores for me would be in Berkeley or San Francisco, and that would be a 30 minute drive.

Focused on limited for now. Occasionally play some standard/modern as well.
My area is ringed by three stores that are roughly equidistant, about a 20-30 minute drive on the freeway depending on traffic. So, not very "local" gaming stores at all.
For big competitive events, I expect no less than an hour drive.
There are 2 main stores I go to. Store A is about 25 minutes from home and less than 5 from my work, and I love going there if I'm in just a casual mood, because there are little to no competitive players there so it is always a fun time. If I'm in a competitive mood, I go to Store B, one that's about an hour away from my house. One hell of a drive, but there are a lot more players and more trading that can be done, plus its where I got started playing magic so I know a lot more people over there.

I have two that I play at, depending on my mood (and finances). The closest one (which has an entrance fee) is less than a 1/4 mile away and I can walk there in about 5 minutes. The other one (which is free) is in another states, but still only about 12 miles away. I can drive there in about 15 minutes.
Those are just the ones I choose to play at. There are probably 8 more within a 30 minute time frame that I haven't played at.
I live in a small town in the middle of freaking nowhere. My CLOSEST LGS is 85 minutes away driving by the speed limit. I can, if I try really really hard and don't meet any "resistance", make it in 65. That isn't really adviseable, as these are small town cops with delusions of world domination (and they don't respect Mana Leak when the flashing lights go on).
So, I am not active in league play. I attend prereleases, and show up for drop day, and try to hit a FNM once a month, if my wife and my work schedule permits.

I drive about 20 minutes for FnMs and about 45 for Wednesday night Legacy. If there are other events it just depends on which LGS is hosting. I traveled about 4 hours to SCG Bama. That's the longest trip I have taken.
Mine's about 10-15 min depending on traffic. There's one like 2 minutes away but I never go there because it's overpriced and the customer service is practically nonexistent.
