Quite the interesting card here. Recover is a neat mechanic as well.
The card itself is not too impressive, but I believe the mechanic as a whole has potential for abuse. Even the assassin could be decent in the right deck, although with Char and Flames of the Blood Hand floating around, it is difficult to say for sure. -DL

I really don't like this keyword ability. Has potential, but it seems the cost of them may be a little bit too extreme to make it worth while

I like it, aside from having to remove it as soon as another creature dies or pay half your life, not bad at 10 or less life though, it should return it to play for that much life

Half your life??? Isnt that Quite a big cost to pay for a recursing Dark Banishing... And especially with all the burn in Standard, the cost is quite Hefty. But it is the only card with no mana in its Recover cost....

this card is good(if you can pay the bbb), regardless of that jank recovery cost. The mechanic may be good, just not on this card.
ALSO: they did show us Cover of Winter in the Arcana shouldn't that be posted too? EDIT:dang, Glix beat me 2 it. |

Recover seems too steep of a cost for such a poor card. For
![]() ![]() shouldn't at least be any creature and not nonblack?

Hmmm...
I like this guy to some degree, and the mechanic is quite lovely. He's the creature form of that one card.....a cookie to the person who can come up with the name of that Enchantment that let's you pay half your life and ![]() to destroy a critter.Costing ![]() ![]() for a 2/2 is iffy, but even if he gets to do his work once he's likely worth it. He can frequently 2-for-1 or at the very least beat your opponent's face. He'll be fun, the abilites are nice for limited, although his CC is limiting, no pun intended.

Well its an interesting mechanic but it seems like a way too conditional and harder to control version of dredge. The recover price on this card is very steep and Im sure theres some dredge cards that can do what this card does Im a bit disapointed in the mechanic. In black decks I dont see this card replacing stinkweed imp or even seal of doom. theres better card that can recur themselves without such a steep cost
EDIT: theres a neat little twist on the cumulative upkeep but again I dont like the idea of increasing the upkeep cost again a card that can easily be replaced with cheaper combat nullifying spells Last edited by mada7 : 06-29-2006 at 11:12 PM. |

The mechanic is OK. However, we have Dredge and I don't see why they make another one...
As for the card itself, it's pretty bad. ![]() ![]() , half life for one Dark Banishing? No no... |

Im Hungry so Murderous Betrayal for you Tarbosh
As for the cover, it can save you for a long, long, long time with a large amount of Snow mana that is... It may see play, but i doubt it

i really don't like it, the cost is wayyy to much for the effect, even if it has no mana, BBB, destroy target non-black creature doesn't seem very efficent, limited card at best i think. good potential in the mechanic though.

Also, Death Spark was shown in the new card frame. I'm guessing it'll be reprinted in a starter. |

I don't like the card itself, as it seems kinda overcosted for the ability and recover. The art however is great.

Your looking at it the wrong way. It will be played in mono, or primarily, black decks where the cost isn't prohibitive (ravnica has tainted us with its multicoloredness), and the recovery cost can be ignored.
It is a Seal of Doom with 2/2 that can hit artifact creatures in a mono-b deck. Its not a bad card.
