Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
he's pretty cool, but he can actually work with elspeth pretty well, since he's an ajani and not an elspeth. That said, I could see far better uses for him in a persist based deck. He works really well with that theme.
I just don't like him at all. His impact to the board when he goes down is minimal to nil, and being a three drop, he's competing with Geist of Saint Traft, Mirran Crusader, Rhox War Monk, and Knight of the Reliquary as the premier three drop creatures in the format. Unlike Elspeth, he doesn't protect himself either, and pumping a Noble Hierarch just seems... suboptimal. I'd rather have Goldmane in an aggressive tokens deck for my high-end card.
All in all, he's just not that good.
Rating: 1.5/5. Rating 2/5, because the Kitchen Finks interaction is actually decent, which I failed to recall when I thought about it the first time.

This seems too slow to me. I can't see his ultimate being relevant in very many matchups. It only arises when he has given out four +1/+1 counters... It could be some good tech in some matchups for Mono-white though, such as in the mirror.
Oh, and he would also annoy me a lot if he ever found a home with Glen Elendra Archmage.
The Kitchen Finks interaction is the main reason I'd consider the card in this format. I agree he's a little slow. That said, I think people are underestimating how much cheaper three mana really is compared to four. Elspeth is certainly a better card overall, but you can't really compare them so directly. If you need a three-drop, you need a three-drop, and not a four-drop.

The Angel doesn't have to live a full turn to add any damage. It's Honor of the Pure with a 3/3 flying body. Now, Hero has a lot merits, most notably being an "army in a can" so to speak, in that it doesn't require you to already have board presence to be a threat. They are both very good cards.
If Pod is popular in your area probably. I'm pretty sure she shuts off Phyrexian Mana. Not only that but she shuts off Pod as a whole. And is a buffing flying beatstick. Which is kind of nice.
She can also make decks sputter on Fetch lands. That could be fun.
(also, i think he's being hypothetical in his assessment, i don't think he has a WW deck made; for the record though, if i were to make one i'd probably go the traditional 20/20/20 route and go with a Kithkin Base and splash red for Bolt and Helix)
Ajani interacts very favorably with landfall guys in an aggro shell. You haven't lived until you lethal someone with a 7/7 geopede.
As someone who has probably played him in this format the most (seriously - DEs, PEs, and the modern event Blippy ran), I also feel like he's a very broad spectrum threat, as all of his abilities interact with other decks. Dropping +1/+1 counters on first strikers or flyers tends to be very relevant in most matches, while having access to an ability that generally does an additional 4-7 damage while granting evasion threatens the slower decks. He also acts on a different axis in grindy matches by forcing them to come after him at some point, as very few decks can answer 12+ 2/2s.
Imo, anything with hexpproof and a sword or something similar (like bant) could really use this guy. A 2/2 geist that evades and doublestrikes, together with a sword spells doom to almost any deck and things with trample/vigilance really like him too.

This.
The card shines in Blouses and Troll Worship Bant lists where he comes down on turn 2, and usually results in a flying, hexproof, regenerating 10-12 damage to the dome in short order, while buffing your lil dudes for a turn or two. Yes, it hurts that his big buff is a -3 instead of a +1 like Elspeth's, and no he can't protect himself like she does. However, he's faster, and his double strike buff is considerably better than elspeth's when auras and Exalted triggers come into play.

"Stoned players can't attack, block, or play spells or abilities."
If a WW deck ever became good in Modern he'd be the PW'er to use. 4cc is too high of a curve for 18-20 lands.
