I honestly like the card. Not sure how I would use it to be exact but I think if you had the right deck then he could be a real problem. I know there is a lot of removal answers but I still think it is a nice card

Yeah, pretty much that.

It can be good. It's pretty hard for most burn decks to get rid of (2 for 1 just to kill). I played against a guy who ran this in a MBC deck, and it was rough for me. Most of my guys couldn't swing through him, and when I blocked he still trampled over. Some decks have answers for him (like Path to Exile), but I just couldn't deal with him with the deck I was playing.
I think it's a sad day when 4cc for a 6/6 flying trample isn't the epitome of efficiency.
Even if he does have a hoop that you have to jump through.
Especially when you can get a 3/2 Flier for 1 with a much easier hoop to jump through.
I think he could be cool in a UB deck; You'd need the addition of Snapcaster to bring back removal (for him specifically) or you might find yourself in a bad spot where you cannot win. And this guy next to Delver would be neat.

Yea you could make a crazy ub deck with these guys
I used to play persecutor in extended, since once you resolved it vs. Faeries, it would just wreck them. That being said, 4 mana creatures that don't combo kill, don't have flash, and don't have haste are on the slow side of things in modern, especially when there is a somewhat legit drawback to said card. If you're looking to simply get damage through quickly, Geist of Saint traft deals the same amount of damage, but also is hexproof and 1 mana less (although he can be killed by chump blocking).
I will say that persecutor is a really good finisher in a control deck, and will block just about anything in the format and live to see another day, but it also is a big investment for something that often just gets hit with a path, terminate, or cryptic command..
If you're playing Persecutor, I would suggest running him alongside Miren, the Moaning Well as a easy to use sacrifice outlet that also helps out against decks like RDW.

It's a dumb beater. What else is a dumb beater, and costs 2 mana less, and whose only drawback is having to splash green?
Persecutor would be better if Cabal Therapy was legal.
I really like this card. As long as you have sacrifice outlets and removal that can hit nonblack creatures you're golden. He seems good in Mono-Black control for that very reason, but he still isn't their best finisher. I wouldn't be surprised to see a deck around him, it is in fact my intention to make that right deck happen (and I think Heartless Summoning as Erenax said is a good way to go)
I just don't think you want to play this card. Reason is that the B/x aggro decks in Modern are going to be running 3-4 Dark Confidant and 4 life is a lot to lose when it might be a couple turns after your opponent is "dead" that he actually loses, and those couple of turns could be a big deal. It could certainly be playable, but the interaction with Bob is one I want to avoid, and I don't want to cut Bob if I have access to him.

Basically this. There are a bunch of relevant tools for a Percy deck that are legal in Legacy but not Modern (see also Innocent Blood) and without them I'm just not sure if playing him is viable.

Well if you are playing mono black Victim of Night is fairly good for spot removal.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
The deck I played against was using Smallpox, Liliana of the Veil and Consuming Vapors. It seemed to have no problem ditching him when needed.
Yeah I've been considering it in my Pox deck for that reason. That said I don't think a 6/6 flyer is necessarily what I even want out of my four slot, if I choose to even run a four.

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
If you didn't yet try out him and Disciple of Bolas in one deck, you should seriously do it.
I did that for large amounts of win. Even if the deck was tier 2, I had a lot of fun when opponents were at -15 or so and I was toying with them having sudden spoiling and Disciple of bolas at hand.

There's lots of cool cards that sacrifice. In Alara-Zen standard I used him with Sarkhan the Mad, Bloodghasts, Rotting Rats and Bone Splinters.
Such a fun card.
