Nice new card here. Combo potential I see, especially in Extended. He has the ability to initiate some crazy interactions with the Mirrodin block guys (Mindslaver is looking nice here) as well as some overcosted artifacts that never saw play, but might now (Darksteel Forge for one).
His impact on standard I think may be more limited, but we shall see. And Resize also: -DL

I don't like it very much, but if nothing else, it serves as a decent way to kill someone's Darksteel Colossus or Masticore, although no one really plays the latter anymore. Also, it seems like a balanced Tinker on a creature.

As for Arcum, I like it a lot. I think it has great combo implications. The first rare from Coldsnap that I'm really excited about.
The expensive Giant Growth seems pretty good for limited, yeah. Not much of a trick if your opp. knows you have it, but it will make combat more sticky. Last edited by Feste : 07-02-2006 at 11:52 PM. |

Agreed, it looks awesome for Limited. Hopefully i won't forget it's in my graveyard when a creature dies.

Yeah, I am liking it in limited a lot. This will, however, require that you leave some mana untapped if used (well not require, but reccomended).

I'm thinking more of a way to abuse it by sacing your own cheap artifact creatures to play something like.....mindslaver or the like. given that you now have a 0 mana protection spell in the form of Comandeer you can probably keep him alive for the first turn until you can use him.
Putting any non creature artifact straight into play is pretty strong, particularky at 0 mana to do so. Can fetch costly equipment, which can then be equiped with the mana you have free for example. My bump of trouble is itching here....repeatable "straight into play" effect can be very dangerous. All you need is a new manakin or another similar useful cheap artifact creature or two to feed him and things could get ugly fast. |

I agree, recover has potential in both Constructed and Limited, but Resize, like pretty much all growth cards, is only really good in Limited. But I'm crossing my fingers for a tutor or counterspell with recover, or at the very least a Boomerang.

Resize has very good use with Greater Good.
swing and Resize your creature, then Sac it to Greater Good for 3 extra cards and get it back. On a shambling Shell, Daggerclaw Imp or Centaur safeguard that means you effectively pay GG2 mana to swing for 6 and draw 7 cards, discard 3. Even without any tricks, it's a pretty handy spell. a Giant Growth is always good, one you can get back is even better - even if you only get it back once it's pretty handy. I'm thinking that Recover will work best with creatures you can sacrifice at will, like the new Martyr cycle, or the rusalka's. The EOT sacing of Hana Kami just got better too netting you 2 cards for a total of 4 mana. Last edited by Heidrek : 07-02-2006 at 11:44 PM. |
