Welcome Orzov players. To get started, if you haven't already checked out BlackJack's Ghost Council thread it is the best place to get started for information. My own list differs a bit from his in the fact that mine does not specifically attempt to combo out win so much as play as a heavy control deck in a non combo / mass LD meta. I still run cards if they work as a whole with the deck to do good things though but about the most I combo would be using Yosei to lock someone up which works ok but not amazingly in multiplayer. If you are looking for more of a combo angle I would encourage you to check out his list instead.
Somewhat surprised to see you tossing out a :symb::symw: deck list. Always thought you were pretty disinterested in their legends :p.
Normally yes, but I tried out a Ghave sac themed deck a long while back and liked the theme but disliked how everything he did went infinite. This would sort of be my approach to have a non combo based sac control list. I like that the commander is hard to remove and has a sac outlet built in which means I wouldn't need to add many sac outlets.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Less Elspeth Tirel, more Land Tax?
Also, is Karmic Guide/ Reveillark the only reason you guys on this site play white ever? Seems less auto-include than I've seen, but I digress.
2) Surprised I'm not seeing an Animate Dead in here. Sun Titan already goes infinite accidentally with Fiend Hunter, might as well go the whole hog. And throw in Angelic Renewal as well.
3) A little light on ramp, as you mentioned; I'd cut Curse of Death's Hold and Wall of Omens; those look to be your most 'do-nothing' cards at the moment.
4) I've been running Elspeth 2.0 in my Teysa deck for a while, and she's kind of disappointing even there. Not sure how it's gonna work out for you.

Guide / Lark were not in my build to begin with. I was sort of thinking about cutting the Guide though as it isnt as neccesary here but I think Lark is really solid due to my commander's sac ability to trigger it.
To start with though they were not in the build, as of currently though I think lark will be sticking but I could be talked out of the guide.
Land Tax would be nice to add I suppose... I will see what I can do.
To start with though they were not in the build, as of currently though I think lark will be sticking but I could be talked out of the guide.
For the record, Lark looks really amazing in this deck. I love where you're going with the Faceless Butchers and the Fiend Hunters, the synergies just feel good. Karmic guide just falls into place there. It just seems to me that they show up in the rough draft of every white/X list, and it takes some personality away, I think. If it makes the deck better in the long run so be it.
Added landbase mostly scalping what RWF mentioned but adding and cutting in a few places.
A few other changes:
CUT: Karmic Guide - I am not extremely creature heavy and she doesnt have the same value here as lark does. I included her a bit as just a white goodstuff card but I will see how it does without. I think I want victimize in here anyways. Wall of Omens - I like him because he is a free body but I agree, he isnt really huge and I needed to make room. Elspeth Tirel - Ok... I probably do have other things that will be better than her. I liked the idea of her being another wrath option but still... not hugely impressive. Curse of Death's Hold - I decided that I have enough wraths that I can probably just use them instead of relying on something like this for token players. I have a ton of good enchantments to pick from where I probably dont need this here. I keep trying to make it work for some reason though lol.
ADDED: Victimize - a nice 2 creature pickup. I dont like how I can only rez off of my own stuff but my deck operates off of death triggers quite a bit here so this should sill be nice. Coalition Relic - more ramp Darksteel Ingot - more ramp
I considered adding land tax as well but it didn't seem as important as the ramp for now. In my experience so far, land tax is sort of a mono white replacement for some card draw especially in conjunction with things like Scroll Rack and Teferi's Puzzle Box. This list doesn't have a ton of high mana stuff in my opinion and the draw factors plus ramp if I can include enough should be better than just guaranteeing my land drops.
Also... the Fiend Hunter / Faceless Butcher have a really cool interaction with Reveillark in here which I didnt first catch as well. Both of them can be used to re-trigger any of my ETB / leaves play abilities in this deck as well as be used as permanent creature exile.
I considered adding more sac outlets but in the end it would only facilitate more infinite combos in this deck. I dont really want to include cards that really only have the purpose of going infinite as I dont much care for that.
You should think about Leonin Relic-Warder. Same interaction as Fiend Hunter/Faceless Butcher but for artifacts and enchantments, and it's small enough to grab with Sun Titan and Reveillark. Mangara of Corondor is another solid one, especially if you can give him haste.
Nether Traitor is one of those creatures I think should be in most black decks. He has haste and shadow, so he can carry Swords like a boss, and his recursion is very easy to trigger in a deck like this.
If you're looking for mana rocks, is there a reason you're not running Orzhov Signet?
Tombstone Stairwell is another of my favorites for decks like this. You stock your yard pretty well, and this gives you a massive amount of fodder as well as a huge number of dies triggers every turn.
I would rethink Terminus and Hallowed Burial. Having one as a tutor target is nice, but you're using graveyards pretty heavily here. Tucking everything can be kind of a pain. I'd rather run more GY hate (like the incomparable Withered Wretch) and just destroy creatures.
You're playing my kind of deck here. Welcome to the club. You might check out my Vish list for ideas. It needs a couple updates to match what I'm actually running these days, but it's got a lot of the same themes you're using here.

Leonin Relic-Warder - Not bad... I like the creature exile versions a bit more due to versatility. With this guy I cant think of a lot of times I would want to protect or re ETB an artifact or enchantment of mine outside of being ready to whipe them myself. It has pros and cons overall... I will see what I can do about it but I have a slightly less optimistic viewpoint on this guy as I do the creature versions.
Mangara of Corondor - saving it from being exiled isn't bad but without more haste outlets I am not as keen on this one.
Nether Traitor - I was trying not to bother too much with recursive creatures. I wasnt even sure if I was going to keep Bloodghast and I am less keen on the Traitor than I am with Bloodghast.
Orzhov Signet - Honestly... I just didn't think about it lol. I will either replace the coalition relic or make room for it.
Tombstone Stairwell - Ehhh.... I think this is better in your Vish deck. I dont want to be giving opponents tokens.
Tuck Wraths - Keep in mind, I can sacrifice everything I have beforehand using my commander and blink my commander until end of turn. I agree that loosing everything can be a pain but with the fact that I can sacrifice my guys I think they will probably work out fine.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
A few more changes I came up with while trying to push the list together:
Blood Artist -> Orzhov Signet I think these creatures are going to be better off in my balthor build where I rez lots of guys in one shot. In theory I think they work better with large number of creatures in play at a time. This deck probably wont have as many creatures in play at one time. I needed to include more ramp as well.
Falkenrath Noble -> Knight of the White Orchid Same problem I mentioned above where I wont be having as many creatures out at one time. The Knight gives me more ramp as well which is nice and it can be recovered with a number of creature rez.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad -> Helm of Possession Sorrin seems problematic... While the token spawning isnt half bad I dont think the utility he provides is as good as what Elspeth 1.0 offers. Helm of Possession seems totally sick with a dedicated sac outlet commander so I can just keep chewing creatures up that I steal.
Terminus -> Oblivion Stone I just wanted another noncreature wrath. I like the tuck wraths for this deck however the ability to pop it at instant speed seems nice.
Pawn of Ulamog -> Sensei's Divining Top Added more fetchlands so the top's library manipulation seems worthy of testing out here. Most of my decks dont have enough shuffles for me to feel it is worthwhile but I think I have enough here.
Fetchlands - I bumped this count up.
Cabal Coffers -> Shizo, Death's Storehouse I dont have a ton of big mana stuff in here and in a 2 color deck coffers can be a bit harder to use. Shizo tapps for colored mana, comes in untapped, and gives me some evasion to push my commander through.

could you use oversold cemetary instead of victimize? and possibly use of corpse dance as another reanimate spell? faiths reward maybe to save from board sweeps?
could you use oversold cemetary instead of victimize? and possibly use of corpse dance as another reanimate spell? faiths reward maybe to save from board sweeps?
Oversold Cemetary - I am not entirely excited about the grave size to activate nor the fact that I have to wait a whole turn rotation before I recieve any results from it. Due to that I like cards like Sword of Light and Shadow more because I can put it to use right away for a rez. It also has a harder time with graveyard hate because it requires more cards to be in my graveyard to activate. Due to how much over time rez I already have with the Sword of Light and Shadow + Debtors' Knell I think I would prefer something else. It just gives opponents too much time to deal with it for sort of worse results than the other cards I am already running.
Corpse Dance - Honestly I would probably be more for including this than Oversold just because it doesn't open itself up to as many removal options as well as not requiring a number of creatures in the graveyard. Its sort of spendy to abuse though but its an option... I am trying not to be overly dependent on graveyards though and unless it was swapped in for something else I dont really care to add more.
Faiths Reward - to be honest, I hadn't thought about it in here. Normally I dont care for it because of how narrow sometimes creature deaths can be however in here, my commander is a sac outlet so it is more powerful. I will have to think about it for a bit but you could be onto something with this one here...

Twilight's Call and Living Death do not do the same thing though. Living Death gives a heavy benefit to the player without creatures in play and a huge yard, whereas Twilight's Call just benefits everyone with a creature in the yard.
Depending on how you build your deck, TC can be severely worse than Living Death.

Thanks to the fact that my commander operates as a sac outlet as well it lets me sort of dodge loosing anything in play as I can dump everything before going through with it.
I agree with RWF here, the versatility of Living Death is more than that of Twilight's Call here. Thanks to grave rez and grave hate in the deck as well I feel like I have an edge over the rez portion of the card as well.

Right, it becomes of Wrath of God for everyone else, and a full rez for you... and even if they get a few creatures back, that's fine, you're going to benefit the most from it in almost every scenario.
However, it is worth noting that at the time when you sac all your creatures and play Living Death, Grave Pact goes from being amazing to horrible real quick.

If I have Grave Pact in play with a bunch of creatures then I dont think it would really be an appropriate tome to use Living Death. At that time I would likely just control the board with the Grave Pact.

If I have Grave Pact in play with a bunch of creatures then I dont think it would really be an appropriate tome to use Living Death. At that time I would likely just control the board with the Grave Pact.

I know YOU would lol, I was referring to people that are maybe trying this deck out. It's important to remember other board pieces, even when going for a big play like Living Death (and the ensuing sacrificing of your creatures).
