Arctic flats: White green
Frost Marsh: almost definately black blue
Highland weald: definately green red
Tresserhorn sinks: almost definately red black
boreal shelf: probably white/blue, although why they chose the word boreal is beyond me.
Does it seem odd to anyone that the Snow Lands on the sheet are referred to as "Snow-Covered," while Wizards said they were doing away with that term? Just something that caught my eye.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
i picked sinks for red black because Tresserhorn has always been associated with black, and red to a degree. If they make it something like a caldera lake, then it would probably work. Any other ideas of what the B/R snowland is?

It's because they're still called Snow Covered Plains, Island etc, but their types are basic snow land - plains, island etc.
martyr of bones and martyr of spores are the 2 martyrs we are missing.
sun's bounty and orcish bloodpainter sound interesting, and surging aether seems to be the blue ripple spell we are missing (betcha it bounces.)
and so we know the final "reprint" huh? i say that it has a good chance of being a preview card, but who knows...
A blue raptor probably refers to a bird and not a dinosaur, as much as I wish it was a dinosaur.
But then again, with Allosaurus riders, anything is possible.
Im almost sure that white hoser will be a pacifism that may enchant only red or black creatures for W. And I doubt the counter would cost only 1U. 2U sounds a lot more believable, or maybe UU if we're lucky, but I doubt it.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
This is integral information, and will be used to, um, speculate the card's abilities, and effects.
Yay, thumbs up for Frozen Solid. It is a shame that it probably won't get any "errata-ing" to incorporate any "snow" into its text box.
Again, thank you so very much.:)
that is probably a good thing as i'm sure a lot of people would be confused when trying to count how many snow permanents a person controlls, since the caster is controlling the enchantment even though it is over on the opponents side of the table.
A couple notes on names"
W - Squal Drifter: is it a Weathered Wayfarer variant?
U - Frost Raptor: this better be an efficent U creature!
B - Rime Infusion: black booseter enchantment?
R - Rite of Flame: Rite of Initiation variant?
G - Steam Spitter: why wasn't this in Izzet? :-p

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
When I was young, the smallest trick of light,
Could catch my eye,
Then life was new and every new day,
I thought that I could fly.
I believed in what I hoped for,
And I hoped for things unseen,
I had wings and dreams could soar,
I just don't feel like flying anymore.

Why must the raptor be blue? We're talking about the land of IA here. Everything is frozen over and snow covered. Reptiles would have had to evolve to survive (they are cold blooded). Red's dragons, lizards, ect would have evolved, but still be red themed/flavored. I believe this to be red unless it is, as someone said earlier, refering to a bird.

Don't want to steal anyone's thunder... but Jushi Yamabushi was actually referring to it being blue because it's listed as a blue card on the checklist. See for yourself.
EDIT:
Some more speculation on the cards. I am interested to see what Ursine Fylgia does, because I think there are between 4-6 instances on "Fylgia" from the orb. Plus there was one instance of "Bear" and none of the other card names reference a bear. Maybe a cross between the original Fylgia and Elephant Guide.
I think Chill the Bone will be an Irradiate varient. -1/-1 for each Snow permanent the enchanted creature's controller controls.
Steam Spitter is probably our missing Slug creature.
I'm like 96% sure that Controvert will be a counterspell.
From Merriam-Webster.com: "Controvert" transitive verb: to dispute or oppose by reasoning
It also follows a naming pattern for recent counterspells that begin with the letter 'c' (Condescend, Convolute, Complicate) in that it contain three syllables, almost as an homage to the original.

Ah. i See. The link did not work for me earlier, so I had not seen the list. My apologies.
Feste: I agree with the reasoning from webster, however i do not see a pattern. How about frazzle, spell snare, induce paranoi, muddle the mixture, remand, and rueboggle?

Into the North = best name of the set, hands down.

Any chance someone could copy it and post it here? I think at this point it would qualify as public information.
A to whoever does.
