This is my second attempt at Thada Adel, Acquisitor. The first attempt was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it immensely. The only problem it had was usually finishing things off while managing threat because no one likes having their stuff taken. It never quite got there, which is a shame. Eventually, I took her apart for a surprisingly successful Wydwen multiplayer deck, but I recently disassembled that in anticipation of the new Rakdos. That means it's time for Thada 2.0, which will let me include some of the toys I bought for her and never got to use (like my prowl cards). I should also mention that we have banned infinite combos in our group, which is why Palanchron and his ilk are absent.
That's the gist of it. Obviously, this is still in the tweaking phase. I have a fairly decent card pool, but I know I'm missing a few obvious cards that I am looking for. Feel free to make suggestions and I'll tell you if I have them.
I am thinking about a Mycosynth Lattice + March of the Machines bomb. Get myself into a good position and then wipe all the lands off the board and then attack with my army of robots. Hell, if I could get an Anthem effect, I could even keep my lands alive.
Maybe it's too cute but have you thought about Quicksilver Fountain? It's another way to get Thada through and additionaly screws with your opponents mana.
Another possible addition is Gather Specimens, but you probably already knew about that one.
Gather Specimens is on my list of things that have been avoiding me, unfortunately, but it is something I'm looking for.
The Artist is a blue, repeatable Harrow, which is pretty amazing if you ask me. It's blue ramp and all you have to do is pitch a card from your hand, which shouldn't to big of a deal. Pilgrim's Eye fetches land, carries a sword, chump blocks, and eats Edicts while having evasion. Lotus was in the original build and might make it in again after testing. Depending on how important some of my non-basics will prove to be, an Exploration Map might also find it's way in.
I am also looking for a Quicksilver Fountain, but that too has evaded me.
I can help you with a few cuts, as I'm sure you probably have more than enough spells you want to add to this list:
- Skullclamp: Almost always a great card, but it doesn't trigger when Thada goes to the Command zone, and you're a little light on actual bodies, so it seems like it's not quite at its best here.
- Explorer's Scope: Seems pretty weak without a Top to make sure it hits, and even then, aren't there better ways to ramp? - Sphinx of Magosi: Seems awfully big and slow for a draw spell. For that same six mana, you could get a Consecrated Sphinx or a Recurring Insight that would likely draw you a lot more cards a lot faster. Even something like Opportunity would probably be better for you. EDIT: I see you cut the Sphinx, probably just need to delete it from your list.
