Nightveil could also easily be Orzohv. They have a dusk-y feeling.

"Veil" implies being hidden or obscured, though, which is very much Dimir.

Nowadays you dont need a good reason to have good creatures in blue.

Black and blue are both good at flying, having both in the CC pulls it down. Think WatchWolf or Wooly Thoctar

Black is not good at Flying. It's in the middle of the pack, really (and that's discounting the "Dragon bonus" in Red).

I want to see this specter.

cheap enough to matter.

Flying
deals damage opponent discards a card and you draw a card.

Thanks for the information.

If it's anything to go by, RTR's buy-a-box promotional card was Supreme Verdict. If the guys up there want to continue the trend set by one card for one expansion, it's a potent multicolored card.

Maybe that's reading too much into it, though.

Whenever SpecterName deals combate damage to a player, that player discard a card.

Nightveil Specter sounds like a Dimir card to me. If for no other reason, the name makes me think of Vela the Night-Clad.

Fun to speculate on!

When I first saw the name I thought Orzhov, and now that I think of naming conventions I am starting to think Dimir. Mainly for what veiled has been in the past (phasing, unblockable, shroud, etc...) which were very much blue. I then remember that we have a veil in M13 Veilborn Ghoul. This may be a graveyard manipulator flyer which may be guild associated, but could be simply mono-black. Well, that's my 2 cents. Cool name, but can't pass judgement till I know what it does.

It's called "Veilborn" because Liliana (and her Veil) raised him from the dead

Based on the name I'd say it's reasonable to assume it is a creature which does some form of discard (like all specters).
Most likely 4 mana if it is repetative (liliana's one was a one-time discard, most other specters are 4 mana).

The name also suggests that it might be hexproof, which would fit well, because then it would be a Dimir card and a discard hexproof guy definitely has a Dimir vibe.
Also, there hasn't been a hexproof specter before, so it's a very easy fit (not too complex either).

So something like:
2BU
Flying, Hexproof
Whenever ~this~ deals combat damage to a player, that player discards a card.

I'd wager a spectre (opponent discards card) with evasion (nightveil sounds like it will be unblockable) plus an additional ability

specters, demons, spirits, horrors, vampires, etc. Black historically has a leg up on White in terms of flyers, though the recent block has given us a plethora of angels and spirit flyers. White was very much relegated to the "angel bonus" until the original ravnica, actually. Now white has archons, spirits, pegasii, flying cats, too many angels, and birds.
