Aaron Forsythe just joined the Pro Tour Webcast to announce "Modern Masters" a product targeted at Modern players.

A short run booster pack set of cards from 8th Edition to Alara Reborn. 229 card set. 15 mythics, 53 rares, 60 Uncommons, 101 Commons.

Some cards shift rarity for various reasons.

Developed with draft in mind by Lead Developer Erik Lauer. You can draft "Storm vs. Faeries vs. Dredge"!

$6.99 MSRP per pack

24 packs per box.

No basic lands. Instead of land you get a foil.

Release June 7th, 2013.

Available in English only, but distributed worldwide.

Contains no cards currently on the Modern ban list.

There will be 1 Modern Masters Limited Grand Prix next year.

20 to 30 cards with new art. Some of the Tokens are appearing in paper for the first time.

Oh boy, here comes the "Modern Player's Arsenal".
So, if this happens to be true, this could be a way to reprint the staples without ruining Standard. I just hope that this doesn't become some sort of FTV or any product that goes ten times the price of it's MSRP.

This is extremely exciting and could potentially be a very good way to get people into the format. We'll just have to see the contents and the price first.

I've already got my disappointed hat ready for when this is a $250 limited print run of 10 foil staples.

(Fingers crossed that I get to wear my super-excited hat, which I also have at the ready.)

I really hope it is something like Chronicles, Modern DESPERATELY needs it right now. Things like Bob, Goyf, Jac--- Oops, forgot he was banned because he's like, 100$...

In all seriousness, I hope we get some AWESOME modern staples, like Fetchlands, Bob, Goyf, Jace, and all the other awesome staples. Cryptic would be nice too...

All in one set would make a fair ammount of players sell their cars to buy the product, but they could deliver hard-finding playables along with main staples (Bob, goyf, etc) in a regular way, like a 'yearly' product. But, please, no Desert ever again.

It really is a joke that the original, allied color fetch lands are not modern legal.

Ahh haa haa! Referring to what i like to call the FTV: Desert Incident?

Seriously, there's too many staples in modern right now for too many competitive decks to just release event decks. IT'd have to be some sort of large set of cards. Like Chronicles, or think of it as "Modern Core Set"

I love the card Desert, but I'm just a grain of sand in here. (Get the reference? Huh? Huh?) - Yet, the card is useless except in places like my mind, where I can create pointless homebrew formats that having cards is a must)

The thing is, a product without fillers would be nice. I don't know if the Event Deck recipe will work right, because, remember the PDS product.

I'm just really afraid of the price, you know...

Premium Deck Series problem was that it was printed in MUCH higher volumes to distribute to mass market stores, and the fact that premium decks sat on shelves gathering dust didn't help things either, they were forced to put more outrageous things in Graveborn just to get it to sell. They didn't like what they were being forced to do just to get the product to sell at major retailers.

Event decks are a much SMALLER print run and are only distributed to specialty stores.

However, I'm hoping that this is a Mass Market product like a Chronicles set or Modern Core Set. This way Modern is more accessible to a LOT more people. Just like the Commander decks did last year.
