Let's see how well Wizards wants to make money.

Reprints of non-modern Legal cards would be really cool, in a Chronicles-style set.

Not gonna happen, though :/

I don't mind a lot of reprints as long as it doesn't ruin the secondary market prices. And make them non foil. Foils in constructed formats suck. A normal face tarmogoyf would be sweet for those with futureshifted ones, since the frame difference will make pimpness distinction easier.

Please let this be something good and not the horrible joke that Commander's Arsenal was. I don't even play Modern, but there are a lot of pricey Modern cards that I would really like to have for casual/EDH purposes. I really hope this is something that makes a lot of them easier/cheaper to get.

Considering the PDS got cancelled because 'not enough people were buying it' which is bs imho, I doubt this announcement will be anything similar.

It could be a new pack series, smaller packs, with old modern cards, mostly rares and mythics. It would be randomized from a 'cube', that would change every year. This way, we still have to crack packs which is where WOTC makes their money, we get the staples we want, and all without effecting standard. Maybe, even as a kicker, the cards in this series will have their last expansion symbol instead of a new one, so that you can't tell if that Bob came from Rav or this release, to avoid that 'not real' feeling.

Or maybe it's the MTG:Cube product we want so bad. Would have it's own card backing for easy tracking, but sleeved, it could be used as a proxy in other formats.

That would destroy the secondary market for the originals. WotC has never reprinted a card that was identical to the original, outside of MTGO nonfoil redemption sets. That set idea would be far more likely to work as a "Modern Core Set" that's not standard legal & has a new expansion symbol.

It's not because not enough people were buying it, it's because they overextended into mass market territory... If they had limited it to Game Stores, it wouldn't have been cancelled in my opinion.

But, they did, and it was. So let's move on.

They in all seriousness COULD release a Modern-border Non-Standard legal set with Modern staples and even bringing older cards that are very much needed into modern (I.E. Onslaught Fetches, Stifle, etc.)

How much longer do we have to wait now? lol, I heard the announcement was at the end of round 14,

I assume it's going to be either:

Duel Decks: Dark Confidant vs Vendilion Clique

or

Duel Decks: Tarmogoyf vs Mutavault

Are Modern PT matches best of 3 or 5? I want to hear the announcement, but I don't want to sit in front of the computer through the match.

I'm fairly interested in this since I'm coming back to MTG (left around Time Spiral) and I'm really liking the Modern decks I'm seeing. It'd be nice to see a goyf reprint but I'd settle for Fetches.

Modern Core Set is the stupidest thing that I have ever heard anyone say on this forum...at least in the last hour.

Will be interested to see what it is though.

hmmm doubt it. That would mean they would have to make stuff likeswords to plowsharefrom the duel deck series legal. Im guessing this will be a booster type thing. Or maybe a cube worth of modern cards.
