Vote for the poem(s) you feel is the best (up to two). Remember to adhere to the "Honor Code" when voting.
While it is understood there is no absolute means to monitor the intent of a vote, we ask each PRC participant to exercise integrity when voting out of respect for the contest:
- Please give each poetry submission an equal opportunity in attaining your vote.
- Please read, or at least skim, all the entries before voting.
- Please do not vote for your friends just because they're your friends.
The Poetry Running Contest puts good faith in its participants to act in an honorable manner.
Contestants, remember, you are required required to vote (and you can't vote for yourself)!
Happy voting!
*Interested new participants should submit their poems here.
I have to agree here, it was not easy to chose favorites, however I will explain why I voted as I did.
I voted for Blippy's due to the fact that I found it highly amusing and I really loved the anti-climax in the end, it came as a surprise and left me with a mixed feeling of completion and mockery.
I voted for Drowning Out The End because I felt like it a portrait of humans enslaved by their habits. It made me reflect on how I lived my own life, which none of the other entries really made me do.

Voted for Blippy. Sweet flow and amusement.. then it slapped me in the face with it's last line.
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy what I put here, as I only write from life.
(Unless it's bat-crap insane, that means I was feeling frisky and started writing while listening to Eminem's old stuff.)
Also, is freeverse encouraged? Not a big freeverse writer myself, but this would be a cool place to give it a shot.
I can only speak for myself, but I am unbiased towards any sort of poetic writing style, most of the poems I write are in Danish and I would hate to translate them, so I see this contest as a good place to challenge my English poetry, but I write pretty much any style myself, so if you make a good freeverse poem, give it a shot, worst case scenario is that you don't win and if you are just testing, I don't believe that is such a bad thing.

Freeverse is fine, IMO. (I'm assuming you mean no meter, rhyme, or formal structure)
Basically, the rhythm comes from natural speech. There is something slightly poetic about it. Which, in the case I tried, sounds really cool if read correctly. (To me anyway)

I absolutely do encourage it! I think I know what you're referring to, sort of a stream of consciousness poetry type thing, right? If, in your mind, it's poetry, feel free to submit it.
Good week so far, I'm gonna need to re-read one more time before I cast a final vote.
Apologies to anyone who did not receive a formal welcome to the PRC as a result of my absence. You all seem to have figured everything out alright, but always feel free to shoot me a PM when in doubt. I look forward to reading your work in the future
Congratulations to Blippy, Chiligyro, Pancake Puffs and iCwalzy, in a PRC first four way tie for the win! I always love to see fresh faces, especially when they write this well. Thanks for entering, and I hope to see you all again!
